Chapter 25 I Love You
Edmund was calm and steady. Even if a thunderstorm fell on his ears, he could remain composed.
At that moment, he felt that his heart was grasped by an invisible hand. He was in panic and fear that he had never experienced before.
"Send me the location of the abandoned warehouse."
When Edmund said that, he turned around and went out of the building.
The executives by his side were panicked.
"Mr. Haines, the contract will be signed in two minutes. Where are you going?"
"Mr. Haines, it is important. Mr. Haines, it's the critical moment."
Edmund sat back in the car and slammed the door closed.
Yvette's eyes were full of surprise.
"Lord Hahn, we finally arrived on time. Why do you..."
"Rush to here as fast as you can," Edmund interrupted Yvette in a deep voice.
At the same time, he showed the location sent by Jack to Yvette.
Yvette had followed Edmund for years and had never seen him so anxious. She knew the matter was important to him, so she hurriedly started the car.
The car drifted and plunged into the driveway. It rushed forward at high speed.
Twelve minutes later, Edmund arrived at the warehouse.
The locked iron door was solid and heavy, but it was kicked open by Edmund.
The moment the door was kicked open, Edmund saw Victoria, who was lying on the ground like a body.
At that moment, Edmund, who was cold and firm, felt a sharp pain in his heart.
He strode forward to put his hand on Victoria's chest to test her heartbeats.
Her heart was still beating, and her breathing was steady and soothing. It seemed that she was tightly sleeping. Then, Edmund got relaxed and was no longer tense.
"It seems that Mrs. Haines had a fight with the two men who kidnapped her. After Mrs. Haines used two needles to defeat them, she fell into a coma.
"Mrs. Haines seems weak but is capable."
Yvette analyzed and examined the men on the ground.
Edmund was focused on Victoria, and his eyes were fixed on her bloody arm.
He said, "Take the medicine box here."
"What?"
Yvette was dumbfounded.
She had noticed the wound on Victoria's arm. Although Victoria was stained with blood, her wound had stopped bleeding. Moreover, it was not deep. There was no need to treat it.
Edmund should have common sense.
What was wrong with him?
"What are you doing?"
Edmund's voice was cold.
Yvette was so frightened that she trembled. She had no choice but to go to the car to get the medicine box.
After Yvette brought the medicine box, she stood aside and watched Edmund wipe the blood on Victoria's arm with disinfectant and bandage her wound. Yvette was in confusion.
Although Edmund was cold, he could be gentle sometimes.
He doted on the people he cared about, such as his mother and his sister, who was studying abroad.
However, Yvette had never seen Edmund treat anyone as cautiously as he treated Victoria.
Edmund treated Victoria's wound so cautiously as if Victoria was fragile. Edmund was afraid that he might accidentally break her.
After treating Victoria's wound, Edmund picked up Victoria and got into the car.
Victoria, who was in a coma, closed her eyes tightly, and her breathing was as even as a sleeping baby.
Edmund wanted to put her on the seat.
After he pushed her away, she snuggled into his arms again. Her arms wrapped around his waist tightly,
"Don't leave me. I love you."
Suddenly, an unprecedented feeling ran through Edmund like an electric current, making him indescribably warm and happy.
In his cold eyes, there was a trace of tenderness...
"I love you. You are the one I love the most and care about the most. I don't want to lose you. Please don't leave me." Victoria hugged Edmund more tightly, and her face pressed against his warm chest.
"I love you, Mom."
Mom?
It turned out that the hateful woman took Edmund as her mom.
The gentleness in Edmund's eyes froze into ice instantly.
Victoria hugged him more tightly.
"Mom, you are my only family member and the only one who is sincerely kind to me. You are the motivation for me to live. Please don't leave me. Come back."
Curling up in Edmund's arms, Victoria burst into tears.
Victoria was always strong, proud, and even somewhat cold in front of others. Even in front of Edmund, she always proudly maintained her dignity and never showed her weakness humbly.
It turned out she was as sensitive and vulnerable as other girls and that she would cry when she was sad.
When Edmund heard Victoria crying in pain and felt her trembling helplessly, Edmund's heart melted.
At that moment, love for her erupted hysterically.
Yvette sat in the driver's seat.
Glancing at Edmund, who had a strange expression, she said embarrassingly.
"I have checked carefully. The two men were punctured by needles and fell into a temporary coma. Jack will rush over to deal with them."
Suddenly, Edmund remembered something.
"Send me home."
"Home? What about the Golden Age Group?"
Yvette couldn't believe that Edmund, who was enterprising, would say something frustrating.
"Lord Hahn! That's a 70-billion-dollar project. Although you can't be there on time, you may still have time if you rush over. Mrs. Haines was only drugged and suffered from skin trauma."
"How could you know she suffered only skin trauma?" Edmund's voice was deep and terrifying,
"For a weak woman, she was seriously wounded."
Yvette thought she had misheard.
Edmund's eyes were brooding.
"Start the car."
Yvette dared not to say anymore.
"All right."
Edmund hugged Victoria all the way in the car.
After arriving home, he carried Victoria into room 202 and put her in bed.
Afterward, Edmund did not close the door of room 202.
He sat motionless on the sofa in the living room on the second floor. It was just opposite room 202.
Edmund could not help but look at Victoria in the bedroom.
Yvette knew Edmund was looking forward to Victoria waking up.
Yvette was forty-seven years old. She and Jack were Edmund's confidantes. Jack took care of domestic affairs, and Yvette helped Edmund do business.
Yvette wanted to persuade Edmund to go to sign the contract. However, Edmund was focused on Victoria. Yvette knew it would be a waste of words, so she shook her head and left.
Not long after Yvette left, Jack came to Edmund.
"Mr. Haines, the two men who had kidnapped Mrs. Haines are here. What do you want to do with them?"
