Chapter 18 The First Time to Please Him
Edward looked around like a frightened bird.
"Where can I find him the mastermind? Twenty-four hours have passed, and I'm worried that Edmund will send someone to catch me. I've been hiding from place to place and dare not even go home.
"Edmund made trouble for me because of you. After all, it was you who put me through this. You're ungrateful."
Victoria put on a wry smile.
She was the victim, but in the end, she became the "ungrateful" one.
"Go to Edmund and tell him not to let it go." Edward gave the order as it should.
Victoria was helpless.
"You saw how cold Edmund was yesterday. Do you think he might listen to me?"
"I don't care. You started all this, so you must help me settle it. Otherwise, don't blame me for being cruel to your mother."
With that, Edward carried the urn and got into the car.
A trace of coldness flashed across Victoria's eyes as she saw Edward fleeing in a hurry.
For fourteen years, Edward often beat her, scolded her, humiliated her, and made all kinds of unreasonable troubles for no reason. Up to now, she still hadn't fully adapted to it.
But her mother's life was in his hands, which left her with no choice.
Victoria wanted to contact Edmund.
Only then did she realize that she did not have any contact information for him, although she had been married to Edmund for two days.
Not daring to be negligent, she could only ask Vernon for leave and hurried back to Royal Mansion.
But Edmund hadn't returned home yet.
Jack was nowhere to be seen.
Except for Victoria, all the deaf-mute people were left in the huge villa. Victoria signed, trying to ask a few deaf-mute people for Edmund's mobile phone number, but it was in vain.
In desperation, Victoria could only bite the bullet and call Xenia.
Because Edwin was Edmund, who was probably with Xenia.
"Bitch, you threw yourself at Edwin right after seducing Leila's fiancé in the bathroom. Now everyone in the restaurant is talking about how cheeky you are. Why do you still have the cheek to call me?"
Xenia sneered as soon as she picked up the phone.
Victoria didn't bother to explain to Xenia.
She asked, "Are you with Edwin now? I have something very important to find him. Put him on the phone."
"What? You actually want to talk to Edwin through my phone. You vixen, what do you think? Don't you have any sense of shame?" Xenia's voice trembled with anger.
Victoria had no time to worry about Xenia's feelings.
She said coldly, "Then give me his mobile phone number, and I'll call him."
"Victoria, go to..."
Before she could utter the word "hell", Xenia's voice changed drastically and became as soft and sweet as honey.
"Edwin, why took you so long to come back? I've been standing here waiting for you till my legs are sore."
Hearing Xenia talking to Edmund in such a charming voice, Victoria felt inexplicably uncomfortable.
"Give me your phone." Edmund's deep voice came from there.
"Ah? Oh..." Xenia reluctantly handed the phone to Edmund.
After a while, Victoria heard Edmund's voice.
"What's up?"
Victoria, who didn't expect that Edmund's voice was so nice on the phone, gathered herself together and said, "About what happened yesterday, I would like to..."
"It's not a good time to talk about this."
Edmund interrupted Victoria's words in a neutral manner.
Victoria opened her mouth in embarrassment, with a look of disappointment in her eyes.
"I'll go home around 5:30 in the afternoon. Talk to me then."
After speaking, Edmund ended the call.
Knowing that Edmund meant what he said, Victoria could only wait.
In addition, Victoria knew very well that she should not ask someone for favor empty-handed, so she decided to cook dinner for Edmund.
Some people said that the best way to a man's heart was through his stomach.
Victoria knew herself very well. Edmund was cold and noble, so she didn't expect to win his heart... She just hoped that she could impress him a little with delicious food so that he could agree to her request...
Nowadays, people were under high pressure and living at a very fast pace, and most people had a weak stomach.
Edward was one of them.
Edward often socialized outside until late at night and vomited badly after returning home. Victoria felt sorry for Edward and learned to cook some stomach-nourishing dinners when she was a teenager.
But in the end, Victoria didn't win Edward's heart, and instead, he had gone even further.
Today, what Victoria was going to cook for Edmund was her best stomach-nourishing dinner.
Just after three o'clock, Victoria went to the kitchen to prepare.
Around five o'clock, she had everything ready.
At 5:32, a luxury car drove into the villa, and Edmund went home.
Victoria hurriedly gestured for the servant to deliver the love dinner she had made to the table.
As soon as Edmund walked into the house, he was greeted by a light scent. The smell made him, who had no appetite at first, suddenly felt hungry.
He went into the dining room.
A plate of baked potato, a plate of salad, and a bowl of porridge were neatly placed on the dining table.
The common dishes appeared to be unremarkable.
He sat down, casually picked up a potato and put it in his mouth.
Edmund was a finicky eater, and the delicacies from mountains and seas in star-rated hotels did not arouse his interest. However, he couldn't stop eating after finishing a potato and unbelievably ate up all the dishes.
"Who made this?"
Edmund pointed to the empty plate with a trace of satisfaction in his icy eyes.
At this dinner, he actually tasted something that belonged to home that he hadn't had for many years.
He wanted to reward that chef well.
From Edmund's gestures, a deaf mute could see what he was talking about and raised his face and blinked rapidly toward the outside of the dining table.
Edmund looked up and saw Victoria standing there in loose home clothes and an apron. A trace of surprise appeared on his handsome face.
Victoria was stubborn by nature and never took the initiative to please anyone.
It was because she never stooped to please Lacey and Xenia that she was repeatedly abused in the Collins family.
However, this time, for the sake of her mother, Victoria managed a smile and walked up to Edmund flatteringly.
"Honey, I specially made the stomach-nourishing dinner for you. Is it delicious?"
