Chapter 29 Watching the Show
Jack was resolute and stated, "Mr. Haines, Mrs. Haines didn't express whether she forgives those two men or not. How should I proceed?"
"She didn't say anything, which means she refuses to forgive," replied Edmund with a mesmerizing and detached demeanor.
"Let those two wretches suffer a fate worse than death."
Snake, who had been knocked down earlier, struggled to get up and, upon hearing Edmund's words, was so scared that his eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
At that moment, Edmund's phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID display "Xenia," Edmund's gaze turned even colder.
"I'm sorry, Edwin. I was just sleeping and didn't hear the phone. When I saw your missed call, I hurriedly called you back. I dreamt of you again last night, and I was so happy that you called me voluntarily," Xenia said, her eyes filled with joy.
A few days ago, Edwin took the initiative to approach her and agreed to be her boyfriend, but he hadn't contacted her proactively since then. He even warned her not to contact him unless it was urgent.
Their previous meetings were all initiated by Xenia, who persistently tried to persuade Edwin.
This was the first time Edwin had called her on his own accord.
"Meet me at Rime Garden in ten minutes," Edmund's voice was low and icy.
Since Edmund always spoke to Xenia in a cold manner, she didn't notice anything unusual. Instead, she excitedly jumped on the bed.
"Alright, Edwin, I'll go wait for you right now."
Rime Garden was renowned as a romantic destination, and if one ventured there late at night, it was common to witness couples seeking moments of intimacy concealed among the foliage.
Edwin had invited her to meet him there. Was he planning to make a move on her?!
Xenia quickly arrived at Rime Garden.
A few minutes later, a black luxury car parked outside the garden. When Xenia saw Edwin stepping out of the car, she ran up to him.
"Edwin, you're here. I... uh..."
She couldn't utter another word.
Because Edmund had already grabbed her throat with his right hand.
Xenia gazed at him with disbelief, overwhelmed by a profound sense of suffocation. Her previously fair complexion swiftly flushed with pink, and her eyes slowly reddened with bloodshot intensity.
She had no doubt that Edmund really intended to strangle her.
At least ten seconds passed before Edmund released his grip.
Xenia, already numb all over, collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud. Her cheek was scratched by a tree branch, and blood flowed down her face.
Edmund looked down at her from his superior position, his icy eyes devoid of any sympathy.
"Remember this well. I showed mercy only because you once saved my life. From now on, there is no debt between us.
"You and I, it ends here."
With those words, he turned resolutely and headed back to the car.
"Edwin!"
Xenia was in too much pain to care. She immediately got up and tightly embraced Edmund from behind.
"I don't understand... Why are you suddenly being so cruel to me? What happened?"
"You know it well in your heart," Edmund said expressionlessly as he pried Xenia's hands off his waist.
"Someone who is capable of harming their own sister has no right to be associated with me."
After saying that, he coldly threw Xenia to the ground and got into the car.
A tinge of disappointment was buried deep within his vast eyes.
That night, the girl left an indelibly beautiful impression on him, akin to a dream.
He never anticipated that Xenia would reveal herself to be such a contemptible and vindictive woman.
Helplessly sitting on the ground, Xenia watched the black car gradually fade away before her eyes, tears flowing uncontrollably down her face.
It was all Victoria's doing!
She would never let that bitch get away with it!
...
As a medical company, Best Medicine had extremely strict hygiene regulations and didn't allow employees to eat inside the company premises.
Therefore, Victoria bought a serving of spaghetti from a street-side stall and sat at a marble table outside Best Medicine to eat.
At that moment, a red Porsche quickly arrived.
"Victoria, you shameless bitch! After committing such a despicable act, do you still have the audacity to eat?!" Xenia exclaimed angrily, as she forcefully kicked open the door of the Porsche and confronted Victoria.
Victoria never anticipated that instead of seeking revenge on Xenia, it would be Xenia who proactively approached her, assuming the role of the victim!
Victoria halted her meal and rose from her seat.
"Does shamelessness run in the family? How can both you and your mother be so shameless? Tell me, what despicable thing have I done?"
"You seduced Edwin, and Edwin broke up with me because I bribed..."
In extreme anger, Xenia almost let slip what she shouldn't have said. She quickly corrected herself.
"Edwin broke up with me because of what Snake did to you, Victoria! Yesterday, you framed me over the phone, saying that I instigated Snake. You must have said the same thing to Edwin, which made him mistakenly believe that I am a malicious woman.
"Victoria, it was because of you, you shameless bitch, that you tore Edwin and me apart!"
Edmund!
Did he really break up with Xenia for her?!
Just moments ago, Victoria was seething with rage, but in that instant, her heart unexpectedly blossomed with indescribable joy.
"You shameless woman! You're actually smiling. It's definitely you who's been causing trouble between us! I'll kill you!"
Overwhelmed by grief and anger, Xenia completely lost control. She extended her arms and grabbed for Victoria's hair.
Victoria, swift on her feet, adeptly evaded the attack and seized hold of Xenia's right arm, swiftly executing a judo throw.
"Ah!"
With a piercing scream, Xenia fell backwards onto the marble table, lying motionless.
The bowl of spaghetti that Victoria had only eaten halfway spilled all over Xenia's face, drenching her in thick sauce and noodles.
At that moment, a top-tier black luxury car had already parked not far away.
Inside the car, a pair of deep and sharp eyes gazed at the scene.
Yvette, in the driver's seat, looked worried.
"Lord Hahn, your girlfriend just got attacked by your wife. It seems like your girlfriend is no match for your wife. Aren't you going to help?"
Edmund remained as composed as an iceberg, his eyes brimming with intriguing thoughts.
"We're just here to watch the show."
Yvette turned around, looking at Edmund in astonishment.
She was curious to know what his reaction would be if the roles were reversed and Xenia had attacked Victoria.
"You whore, how dare you hit me!"
Having never suffered such humiliation before, Xenia completely lost her composure. She spewed venomous curses, trembling with anger, and desperately tried to get up to fight back against Victoria.
At that moment, Victoria swiftly retrieved a silver needle from her handbag and precisely pierced a certain acupoint on Xenia's shoulder.
Instantly, Xenia's body went limp and numb. She could only lie on the marble table like a lifeless puppet.
She clenched her teeth and cried out, "Why can't I move... Victoria, what have you done to me?!"
