Chapter 8 Edmund Almost Lost Control
"As I said, it won't be safe for you to know too many secrets, so you don't need to know why I do this."
Edmund's clear voice sounded again.
He had perfect lips. The warm breath exhaled from between his lips brushed across Victoria's face while being mixed with the natural mint fragrance.
It was charming.
"I see!"
Victoria felt somewhat sad for no reason.
But she stubbornly raised the corners of her mouth, smiling freely.
"Get divorced in a hundred days? Anyway, you are not my type. I'll sign it."
Picking up the signature pen, Victoria neatly signed her name on the contract.
"Besides, I'm not a fool. I can tell that you married me mostly to make your mother happy. And I promised to marry you for my purpose.
"So our marriage is a mutually beneficial thing. Neither of us owes each other, so you don't need to pay me for it."
Raising her hand proudly, Victoria handed the signed contract back to Edmund's chest.
Edmund looked at Victoria expressionlessly.
For some reason, her indifferent appearance made Edmund, who was very good at controlling his emotions, inexplicably annoyed.
The moment Edmund took the contract from her hand, Victoria unconsciously got closer to him.
He smelled the unique fragrance of her body again.
At this moment, Edmund felt that there was suddenly a fire in his heart and that the impulsive feeling of wanting to do something to her struck again...
This time, it seemed to be more difficult to suppress the feeling than the last time!
Edmund felt that something was going to be wrong!
Edmund found that if this continued, his defense line of abstinence might be breached by Victoria at any time, and he would do something shameful with her!
After handing back the contract to Edmund, Victoria got up and went to the back row of the car.
At this moment, her suitcase was lying quietly on this row of seats.
"Zipping!"
As soon as Victoria sat down, she simply opened the zip of the suitcase.
"What are you doing?"
A hint of surprise appeared in Edmund's icy eyes.
"Change clothes."
While speaking lightly, Victoria didn't raise her head.
Hearing this, Jack, who had just sat in the driver's seat for a few seconds, slid out of the car in a hurry.
Edmund looked cold and remained silent.
Victoria originally wanted to remind him not to look back.
But she suddenly remembered what Edmund said to her this morning. He said that he was not interested in her and would not peek at her. So Victoria just moved her lips and didn't say anything.
Edmund was always aloof. Even if Victoria was face to face with him, his gaze never fell on her...
So Victoria thought there was no need for her to do it.
She took off her red dress as if no one else was there, took out a suit of clothes she used to wear from the suitcase, and put them on one by one.
Edmund was sitting in a wheelchair, only a row of car seats away from her.
Edmund was abstinent and conventional at heart.
He hated the errant physical contact between a man and a woman before they got married. Also, he hated women who dressed outrageously and posed pretentiously in front of him...
However, looking at Victoria's writhing figure vaguely reflected on the window glass as she undressed and dressed, Edmund felt clusters of small flames spring up all over him, and he was indescribably thirty and burning...
What was worse, he couldn't help but want to turn around and take a closer look at her body!
Edmund couldn't figure out what was going on.
He felt this damn out-of-control feeling again!
"You don't want others to see your face, right? I'm going to open the door and get out of the car now. Although there is no one outside the car now, just in case, you'd better put on the mask or find something to cover your face."
Victoria, who was already dressed, spoke calmly.
Edmund was fighting with the burning sensation all over his body, but his face was still cold.
"Since there is no one outside the car, why do I bother?"
"Um..."
Victoria was speechless for a moment.
She thought Edmund was very good at chatting!
He could always make her feel as cold as being thrown into an ice hole and unable to continue the conversation by saying one sentence.
Victoria pursed her lips indifferently.
"Well, in this case, goodbye, Mr. Haines!"
When she got out of the car, she saw the bright red wedding dress she had just taken off and put on the car seat.
According to the customs of Seaside City, the bride had to wear a red dress for three consecutive days after getting married to make it a perfect marriage.
But now Victoria didn't think it mattered!
Anyway, she and he would part ways in a hundred days. So there would be no perfect marriage!
As soon as Victoria got out of the car, Jack greeted her with a smile.
"Mrs. Haines, why did you take off your wedding dress? Why do you get out of the car? Where are you going?"
Victoria raised her face.
"Work."
"Huh? Um..."
Jack tried to keep calm.
"Mrs. Haines, you have a distinguished status. If you must go to work, get back in the car, and I will take you there."
"Thank you, but no need."
While speaking, she ran to the side of the road and waved to the taxi that was a few thousand feet away.
"I don't have a distinguished status. The one with a distinguished status is Mr. Haines in the car, and it has nothing to do with me. Drive Mr. Haines home quickly."
Jack was surprised to hear the address "Mr. Haines".
And he didn't know why she said Edmund had nothing to do with her.
Jack shook his head helplessly and could only watch Victoria get into the taxi.
Edmund was sitting in the car.
This car was equipped with a high-grade air filtration system, so the air in the car was fresh and odorless all the time. But Edmund always had the illusion that Victoria's unique sultry fragrance was surging in his nose.
His gaze always fell on Victoria outside the car unconsciously.
At this moment, Jack got into the car.
After closing the car door, he spoke cautiously.
"Mr. Haines, as your subordinate, I have to do my job. I have something to say to you."
Edmund still looked at Victoria outside the car.
"Go ahead."
"I am more than 50 years old. So I am sure that I have an eye for judging a person. Although Mrs. Haines is stubborn, naughty, and rebellious, she is interesting, isn't she?"
Edmund's eyes darkened.
"What on earth do you want to say?"
Jack spoke with a meaningful tone.
"What I want to say is that maybe it's not a bad thing for you to marry Victoria by accident. Destiny brought you together.
"To be honest, I think Victoria is a good match for you, but her younger sister Xenia...
"Although Xenia looks pure and elegant, won't it be flat to marry and live with a boring person like Xenia for the rest of your life?"
Edmund moved his thin lips slightly.
Six days ago, to repay Xenia, he arranged for someone to go to the Beachside Villa to propose marriage, saying that he wanted to marry Xenia.
However, the Collins family insisted that they wanted to replace Xenia with Victoria.
Hearing the news, Edmund originally planned to call off the marriage.
However, his mother learned about his proposal of marriage to the Collins family somehow.
Edmund's mother only wanted to have a grandson before Edmund "died suddenly", so she made a scene to force Edmund to agree to marry Victoria.
Edmund had no choice but to agree.
But as a grateful man, Edmund thought he must repay Xenia, so he met Xenia with another identity two days ago.
Xenia fell in love with him at first sight and offered to be his girlfriend...
Edmund agreed that Xenia was indeed pure, elegant, sweet, and obedient.
Of course, he thought she was indeed boring!
But Edmund doubted that Victoria was naughty and interesting.
When Edmund thought of Victoria, her delicate face suddenly appeared in his mind very clearly...
And again, he felt inexplicably annoyed!
"Your wife Victoria..."
"Shut up!"
Edmund interrupted Jack in a cold voice.
"Don't mention her name in front of me in the future."
Jack was speechless and stunned.
As Edmund's butler and confidant, he had followed Edmund for twelve years. Jack knew that Edmund was restrained and calm. He had never seen Edmund so irritable.
At this moment, Edmund's cell phone rang, and the name "Xenia Collins" was displayed on the screen.
Edmund picked up the call and said coldly, "Didn't I remind you that you are not allowed to call me at will?"
