Chapter 50 WE MEET TO FIGHT AGAIN.
CONTINUATION…
I heaved painfully with a tired grunt as I killed the last one in the higher court. I had used the same move Jereum had used to get behind me to kill the second wolf. As it had bit at me, I jumped, planting a foot firmly to the walls and pushing myself forward. Driving the sharp silver blade into the creature's neck and severing just about every blood vessel on its back.
All the adjudicators lay in pieces on the floors. Their bodies slowly vapourizing away. I went through a door at the back of the large assembly hall, that's where the refuges were held. On walking down the stairs and getting to a lower floor I was roughly hit and then pinned down by something.
The wolf snapped at my head repeatedly and I dodged to either side while still lying under it. It went straight to me this time and placed a hand on its snout and pushed back on it as it tried forcing its head down. It was winning, its open jaws getting closer to my head. It was less than an inch away and I groaned under the pressure it was pushing away, when I head a fast slicing sound and next thing I knew, the wolf fell to its side, dead.
The female adjudicator I had saved stood over me, looking victorious. She pulled me up.
"You decided to fight huh?" I asked her.
"You saved me, I save you."
"Protect that door."
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"The war, it must have stared by now."
"Then you are missing something..."
She unlocked the safe doors and I heard a loud gasp as we walked through. Leya ran to me and jumped me into a hug. I hugged her back tightly.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yes." She looked at the blood on my clothes. "Are you?"
"Yes, just a little wolf problem."
"How about your friends?"
She had been standing close to a little dark skinned girl which was part of the clan of the Nymphets. All of them with double the outstanding beauty of a vampire.
"We are all good."
"Okay."
The adjudicator returned, holding a flooded red clothe in her hands.
"You know I don't like the red robe—"
She unfolded it by letting it drop whilst holding the top part of it and I saw that it was actually a red and silver embroidered one arm jacket.
"Whah?"
"Your clan leader ordered this specifically for you. A long time ago."
Jhan, always full of mysteries. I collected the jacket and put it on. I liked it.
Leya looked at me in surprise.
"Okay Leya, I gotta go help our friends okay."
She nodded.
"Stay here and stay safe."
I had almost cracked away when I heard the adjudicator shout, "wait!"
I turned around to face her. Wondering what it might be this time.
"Here..."
And she handed me two long bladed swords.
"Thank you. Close those doors and be ready to fight in case anything badd happens."
She nodded.
"I'll see again Leya." And with that I had spd out of the room, weak but determined. I ran west, passing in between houses and other buildings until I go to the forest. I kept an open mind. Carefully watching out for any sudden movements but none.
I kept up the speed I carried, the clearing was not too far away from here now and at the speed I was running, I would reach it in a few minutes. It was fast but I was a bit faster, I ducked, bending my head low and tumbling over as I lost balance.
I got up quickly to see a rather large wolf with ginger fur.
"What? You!"
'That's right, my brothers that broke in freed me. And I've waited for you knowing that you'd go running to your friends!'
He jumped at me, three unce long claws outstretched and releasing a deathly growl. I dodged to the side, leaping up a tree in the process.
It took just two large destructive swipes at the base of the tree for him to bring it down. Frustrated, I jumped off it and he seized the opportunity to slam his large in my back, at same time lashing out my skin with his sharp claws.
I fell, angered at the fact that he had just ripped my new jacket. I jumped at me again and this time when I dodged he turned around sharply using his strong muscled tail to wipe at my body. The force sent me against another tree and I groaned as I felt my spine break.
I couldn't feel my legs, but I didn't think he knew that because he Wass slowly inching closer to me. I was in a state of panick, if he should jump at me now he'll definitely get me and tear me to pieces. I tried to look determined, like as if I had a plan in mind so he'll take more caution and buy me some more time to heal.
My heart racing, this was a very critical matter. I mentally felt my spine, the soar area was becoming less painful but a a slow rate. He jumped again, jaws wide open and for a moment I had given up. I gambled on my life and leaned forward, a loud crack and next thing I knew I was head rolling under the wolf. I raised up the sword, digging it into his belly and as I rolled I sliced down his abdomen allowing his guts to pour out of him and he squealed his last as he died.
I had never seen a war but this was something else. I stood at the top of the small slope that led down to the clearing, watching in shock and fear as beasts fought beasts and ripped away each other's throats, vampires slashed and killed opposing wolves and as vampires were instantly torn to multiple pieces by the ferocious bite of a wolf.
I spotted a great grey wolf. About half the size bigger than Nicha and he gang. The wolf was saddled with the red and silver and it had a red fiery blaze in its eyes. A long scar ran down the grey wolfs left eye and Alzaraq fought powerfully against an equally large, dark brown wolf with the same fiery blaze in its eyes—Hardaj.
I spotted Tia, sh has her back to Jereum and Jhan was stabbing at a wolf's eye before he plunged the blade Tonite throat, punched his hand into the deep gorge and ripped out it gullet. The wolf bled and collapsed.
An unseen one jumped for Tia's head. I cracked from where I was speeding through the fierce onslaught, slicing at any wolf that was not saddled and jumping for the wolf that was ambushing Tia. I locked gazes with the beast for just a second before slicing at its throat and cutting off the head of the beast, clean.
They all looked on in shock but in a flash I wasn't were I was anymore, I was speeding thought the crowd of fighters and sending my blade into any wolf that was not identified. And force hit me, one that sent me tinge ground and worrying for my life three brown wolves circled me, death in their eyes.
I got up but was disarmed with a single tail lash at me back. My swords fell and clattered against the ground. Now I was worried one at my back jumped at me I dodged to the side but was met by a tremendous pain as one of them sunk its teeth to my shoulder. I screamed in pain as it lifted me off the ground.
'Does it burn demon? I heard it burns you kind when injured.' It was a feminine voice and the wolf suspended me in the air, teeth in my shoulder. She dropped me and I fell uselessly to the ground. Blood flowing down my right arm.
The continued to circle me. I looked at them. The were about the size of Nicha and her friends.
'Kaldar, please duck!'
Nicha! Hearing her voice in my head was soothing and made me feel more protected.
"It hurt alright, but not as much as thei woul hurt you?"
I threw myself to the ground and I saw a blur of white as Snow ravenously destroyed the wolf the had bit me. Jabari, Tom and surprisingly Cole jumped in as well. Killing off the remaining two.
'Your leader told me you were unable to fight!'
"He was wrong." A wolf tried to bite as Snow buhr Jabari but its tail, dragging it back as Tom and Cole killed it.
'Your arm—'
"It's nothing." The wound had already healed halfway. A loud growl erupted from Alzaraq, and for s moment everyone on both sides paused. I looked on in rage as a bunch of black wolves attacked Alzaraq, bitting at his arms and hanging on him.
"No!"
If the win it's over for us.
It was so fast. A speeding wolf grabbed Snow by the throat, bitting at her neck and I watched as her blood spurted out from her throat.
"NICHA!!!" I bellowed, picking up my swords and driving them into the Wolf's neck. Bloody, Snow fell to the ground. Slowly reverting back to her human form. I picked her and cracked away, running as fast as I could until I got to the slope that led down to her little village.
Many villagers came out of their huts and I watched as Nicha gasped for breath.
'You'll be okay, you'll be okay..."
"K-k-kal-dar, th-thank y-you." She struggled to mutter.
A larger man stood, arms outstretched and I obediently gave her to him.
"She can't die!"
"We'll see what we can do."
The man placed her on the ground before morphing into a dark brown wolf and biting at her limbs.
"NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
But the I watched as the deep wounds in her neck healer up quickly. He reverted back to his human form. "Biting someone not only makes them Lupine, it also helps heal their wounds."
"Now it just left to how much blood she lost and if she'll be able to recover—"
I was already speeding back to the fight, the red glint in my eyes burning and a sword held tightly in my left arm. I needed to end this. As I sped through the onslaught, I slashed at any wolf in my way that was not marked. I see Alzaraq. He—as a wolf—was bleeding all over. Hardaj got closer to him and lunged for his throat.
I had already landed from my battle cried leap, rolled under Hardaj but he clamped down on my right arm, tearing it away as I sliced at the enormous wolf's throat. My sword didn't go as deep as fatal but Alzaraq seized the chance, and ripped away Hardaj's throat. Eating and swallowing the gullet.
I fell to the ground. Dazed and bleeding. I was sure this was it. I had lost too much energy to heal. Alzaraq released a powerful growl that spread through the air and made the other wolves squirm.
The fight was over. We had won. I smiled in my own pain.
"Kaldar?" It was Tia's ear deafening scream.
"He's not healing... Jhan he's not healing!"
"There's nothing we can do," Jereum said, I was sure there would be a frustrated look on his.
"He's gonna die Jhan. If he's not healing it means he's dying."
"Bite his throat, if that doesn't work. Then he is all juiced out." Jereum said.
I felt the sharp stinging pain as Tia's fangs pierced into my neck and her soft lips against my skin. I felt her wet tongue as she sucked at the skin.
I sighed as I felt her drain a little of my blood. I touched the side of her face with my left arm. Stroking her cold skin. The feeling was good, like a little power was being given to me. But it wasn't enough.
She withdrew her teeth from my neck. I heard her call my name like a distant low cry.
"Keldurr? Keldurr? He'z eyez ar clozin J'han..." Hearing all the words as they should be pronounced. I drifter away peacefully, leaving the rest to rejoice in their victory over Hardaj and my clan to wallow in the sorry of my death.
