Chapter 25
Allison's pov
It broke my heart to see Zander get hurt and over me nonetheless. I look over at him and he is frowning looking at his laptop. Seeing my father was painful but I felt safer with Zander. I could sense the frustration and tension coming off him in waves when my father spoke about me. It's true the words didn't hurt as bad anymore. What was worse were the beatings I would get, thankfully Zander didn't see my scars on my back. But I can't keep them hidden forever, someday he will see them. They are from the silver chains and whips my parents used on me. Nobody really knew the extent of my injuries. Not even Stacy or Lydia. I kept it hidden from them, especially my older brother Wyatt, the next Alpha, there would be nothing he could do and if he went up against our father he would have lost. He wasn't strong enough to take on a full grown alpha male. The sound of Zanders phone goes off and he picks it up. From what I can hear with my excellent hearing is a man saying he has something to talk to him about.
“Ok come in and we will talk.” Zander says to the man on the phone.
There is a knock at the door and a man walks in. He is dressed in all black and black shoes. He is a bit taller than me. He looks at me and smiles. He walks over to me. “Hi I'm Sam, I'm Zander's friend. I work for him at the company. I knew he got married but I didn't know his wife was so pretty.” He smiles at me but this time it is genuine and not creepy, not like how Paul was staring at me earlier.
I look over at Zander and he is looking over at us. I can see him fuming and sucking his cheek in.
“It's nice to meet you Sam. I'm Allison.” I say taking his hand and shaking it.
Zander gets up and calls Sam over. Sam winks at me and walks over to Zander. Zander sits back down and they talk a bit.
Zander's pov
“What are you doing here?” I say annoyed at my friend. It's the second guy today that has called my wife pretty. I was getting fed up about it.
“I have some news about your brother. He is back in town now and seems like he wants to stay here for the time being.” Sam says whispering as not to talk too loud.
“What brings him back here?”
“My sources say that he has been selling drugs and is going into the business now.” Sam says.
“He's always had that problem. And he is taking the easy way out.” I say rubbing my fingers in my head. My brother gives me a headache.
“I'll have my men keep an eye on him and his business.” Sam says, looking at me.
“Thanks, tell me the moment you find out anything about him. I don't need him messing around.”
“Will do boss.” Sam cheerfully says getting up.
“Oh and Sam, if you ever say my wife is pretty again it won't be pretty for you.” I say staring at him.
“Are you jealous Zander?” He smirks at me.
I ignore him, “Just remember my warning. I won't tell you again.” glaring at him, he may be my friend but he can't say that about Allison.
“I haven't seen you get so possessive over a girl for a long time, not since Amber.” He gives me a mix of a sad and curious look.
He is right. I haven't been so jealous of a girl since my first girlfriend. It ended badly between us after I found out she betrayed me. Ever since she left me broken, I just dated girls for the media, I never liked any of them. They were all shallow money hungry piranhas who were just after my money. I always thought that I would never want to care about someone else but Allison is different. There is something about her that makes her different from all the girls I have dated.
“That name won't be repeated here.” I bit out never wanting to remember her.
“Yes boss, sorry.” Sam quickly says.
“It's fine.” I turn to look at Allison and she's drawing. Strange I didn't know she could draw. Without thinking I get up and walk over to her. I stand next to her and watch as she draws. She is drawing a landscape and it's very good. She has a good eye for detail.
I didn't notice Dam had walked over too until he spoke, scaring Allison and I.
“Wow, that looks really good.” He said loudly.
“Oh um thank you.” Allison smiled and looked at me. Her eyes stared into my soul, I couldn't look away.
I clear my throat. “Yeah, you draw really well. How come you didn't tell me you could draw?”
“Oh well I haven't drawn in years. I only started again today when I found some blank sheets in here. I hope that's ok.” Allison said quickly. Almost like she thought I would be angry.
“That's fine, I don't mind you using blank paper from my office.” I want to reassure her.
“Oh well thanks. I drew these earlier.” She handed me a small stack of papers.
I sat down next to her and looked through the drawings. There was a mix of everything, all her drawings had a lot of detail.
“You have an eye for detail. And you haven't drawn for years?” I say surprised.
“Thank you. Yes I was never really allowed time to draw as I got older, I just became so busy that I hardly had any time.” Allison said. I could feel there was more to it but I'll ask her later when Sam wasn't here.
“Well, continue drawing because you have talent.” Sam says, smiling at her. Allison returned his smile and it was making me jealous. I wish I could understand why I felt almost a pull to Allison and if I'm honest I have felt it since we got married and have gotten stronger since. And it's something that won't be ignored.
“Well I have work to get back to.” I hear Sam say.
“Ok keep me updated.” I call after him as he leaves. He waves his hand in acknowledgement. I go back to my desk and continue going over reports. After I found out that my father has a serious gambling problem and owed Mr. Barnes a lot of money I was furious. He knows better to gamble especially if the company is on the line. So now I go over where all the money goes and I look to see if he has slipped up again. As I don't want a repeat of what happened last time. And when Mr. Barnes wanted to merge with our company. I wasn't too happy about it. And I definitely wasn't happy when my parents forced me to marry a stranger. But I'm not too sad anymore being married to Allison.
“Come in.” A knock sounds on the door.
“Oh hey boss. I just wanted to give you my typed reports and tell you I'm done for the day.” Lacy says coming forward with a stack of papers.
“Thank you Lacy. You can go home. I'll see you tomorrow.” I take the folders and put them on my desk.
“Your welcome sir. See you tomorrow boss.” She says happily walking to the door. “Bye Allison, text me sometime we should hang out maybe this weekend.”
“Ok I'll text you, see you later!” Allison says with a smile.
Lacy leaves and I look at the clock. It's 6 o'clock and probably time to go home too. I got my bag and put the folders in it and put my laptop in there too.
“Are you ready to go, I'm sure Connie has some good food waiting for us at home.” I say getting up.
“Yes, just let me put these papers back.” She says trying to separate the blank sheets of paper from the ones she already used.
“Just keep them, I don't need them.” I say smiling at her. She nods and picks up the papers and the pencil she found earlier.
We walk out of my office and I lock my door. We get to the elevator and ride it down, I look over and Allison doesn't look too good.
“Are you ok?” I ask concerned.
“Oh yes I'm fine. Elevators just make my stomach turn.” She says looking down.
The elevator stops and we get out and leave the building, most of the staff have left for the day so it's quiet as we go out the back to the parking garage. I unlock the car and get in. Allison gets in and I notice she still looks unwell so I grab a water bottle from the back for her. She takes it and smiles and sips the water. It's a short drive and we are home. As I pull into my driveway I notice a car in the driveway.
What is she doing here?
