Chapter 29

Zander's pov
It's been a long day and it's only five o'clock in the evening. I spent the whole day in meetings and I am done with talking with people today. I look at my phone and I don't see a text from Allison. I feel a sense of loss but I shouldn't. It's not like I love her or anything. But my thoughts go to when we kissed and how it felt to have her in my arms. I can't think of that. I have no right to be thinking like this, especially when I told her that we should only stay friends.
“Excuse me sir.” I hear Lacey.
“Oh yes. What is it Lacey?” I ask, looking at her.
“Um sir, you have a visitor wanting to see you.” Lacey looks nervous shifting her feet.
“Who is it?” I look at her with a raised brow.
“Um well it's your brother.”
“What? Why is he here?” I seeth out.
“He didn't say sir. All he said was that he is here to talk to you.” Lacey says quietly.
“Fine, let him in. Thank you Lacey.” I say dismissing her.
“Of course Sir. Right away.” Lacey leaves.
“Hi little brother.” My brother says standing in the doorway.
“What do you want?” I seeth out.
“Oh come now is that any way to talk to your big brother?”
“What do you want?” I repeat my question again.
“What? Can't I come see you for no reason?”
I give him a hard look.
“Fine, you got me. I wanted to see you since it's been a long time. And I wanted to know why you're having Sam follow me and my men around.” He says sitting down and folding his arms.
“What makes you think Sam is following you around?” I ask.
“Don't play stupid. You're smarter than that. I know you sent Sam to keep a watch on me. So what? I wouldn't embarrass you or the family.” He snides.
“Someone has to make sure you don't make trouble.”
“Well if Sam or anyone else gets in my way. It won't be good. So I would tell Sam to stop following us around. Or you won't like the consequences.”
“Are you threatening me?”
“Of course not. I know better than that.” He has a sinister smile on his face.
“You wouldn't be so scared of being an embarrassment to the family if you weren't doing anything illegal.” I challenge him .
“What makes you think I'm doing anything illegal?”
“Well I don't have proof but I know you're up to something.” I sit back.
“And you won't have proof because there is nothing to have proof on.”
“Very well, if that's all you can leave.” I say going back to my work.
“Sure, see you little brother. Oh how is married life going? I am hurt that I wasn't invited to your wedding.” He fakes a hurt expression.
“Married life is going great. Now if there is nothing else please leave.”
“Fine, I'll see you again little brother.”
I watch as he leaves my office. I pick up my office phone. “Hey Lacey, could you please make sure my brother leaves the building?”
“Of course sir.” I hear over the phone.
“Thank you.” I hang up and call Sam.
“Hey Sam, what are you doing at this moment?”
“Oh hey boss. I'm taking a lunch break.”
“If you're on break. Then who is watching my brother and his men?”
“Oh um Jacob is.”
“Well could you please tell him to call me when he is going to show up at the building. I would like a heads up.”
“Wait hold up, your brother came to see you?”
“Yeah I have a feeling he was fishing for something. And he knows that you are following him so they keep a low profile for now on.”
“Ok,will do boss.”
I hang up, I wonder what he is up to? Whatever it is, it can't be good.
I will have to be vigilant and watch my back. I look at the clock and see it's past six. I have a couple more hours of work to do. It's going to be a long two hours.
Allison's pov
We went back to Tara's dorm and she went straight to her closet and she started pulling clothes out.
“Here you can wear this.” Tara hands me a skirt and almost see through shirt.
“I don't know about this.” I say doubting her.
“Trust me. You'll look great.” She says shoving toward me toward the bathroom.
“You can change in there.”
I go in and shut the door. And look at the clothes. The skirt was black leather and when on me, it came just above my knees. The shirt was off white and lightly see through. The outfit took me out of my comfort zone. I opened the door and walked back to where Tara was standing.
“Wow you look awesome! I knew that outfit would look great with your curves.” Tara says excitedly.
“Thanks but I'm not sure I want to wear this. I mean, isn't this a little too much?” I ask.
“Not at all, some girls wear much less to the parties.”
“Ok if you're sure.”
“Great, now let's go have some fun!”
We left and once again got into Tara's car and headed to the party. The house it was being held in was huge, much bigger than Zander's house. I look around and all I saw was drunk people hanging out. Some were getting rid of the alcohol by chucking up. We walked in and the big room was filled with young adults, there were some sitting on the couches and chairs and some were standing around. The air was filled with heavy loud music. It was hurting my head. The smell of alcohol and sweaty bodies was overwhelming. There were some dancing in the middle of the room.
“Hey let's get some drinks.” Tara pulls me over to a makeshift bar.
“Are you sure that's a good idea?” I ask unsure.
“Of course. Loosen up. Have some fun.” Tara said, handing me a shot glass. The burn of alcohol went down to my stomach. I put the glass down and we went back to the main room. I looked around and there were couples dancing or making out.
“We should dance.”
“You go on ahead, I'll wait here.” I say. Tara gives me a sad face but just nods and walks over to the dance floor. I look around at all the people. There are several guys staring at me and Tara. I felt uncomfortable with them staring.
“Hi, pretty thing. I don't think I have seen you around here before.” A man slurred, he was too close, almost right on top of me. He was tall probably almost as tall as my brother. He was definitely drunk. I could smell the alcohol on him.
“You haven't seen me before because this is my first time here. And get away from me. I'm not interested, I'm married.” I say pushing him away. I guess I pushed too hard or the guy was too unstable because he fell onto the floor.
“You b**ch! What the hell was that for? I'll make you pay for pushing me.”
“I'm sorry I didn't mean to push you so hard.” I say backing away. The man takes a swing at me and I block him. The good thing growing up in a pack is everyone is taught how to fight. I easily block his punch and fists. He kept falling and cursing. Soon his buddy's come to his aid and try to help. I continued blocking their fists and I punched the first guy in the face, my fist connected with his nose and I heard a loud crack. The guy fell down holding his bloody nose.
Zanders pov half an hour before the fight.
I was finally on my way home after a long day. I was tired and just wanted to have something to eat and go to bed. I reach my home and get out of the car. I go inside to find Connie sitting down looking worried.
“Oh good evening sir.” Connie stands and comes over to where I am.
“Hey Connie. What has you looking so worried?” I ask her.
“Well sir it's Allison and your sister. They went out at around four and they aren't back yet.” She says.
“Ok thanks for telling me Connie.”
I pull out my phone and text Sam
Hey I need you to track Allison's phone.
Sure boss, I see it says that she's at some house.
Send me the location and meet me there.
Sure boss see you in 10
“I'm going to go get them, I'll be back later.” I say giving Connie a hug goodbye.
I drive toward the location Sam sent me. It's a big house that my guess is a frat house. I see Tara's car there and Sam is waiting by it. I get out and go over to Sam.
“Have you seen them yet?” I ask looking around. All I see are drunk college kids.
“No boss I haven't, but I did just get here.” Sam says.
“We should check the house.” I walk toward the front door. I open it and that's when I see Allison.
