Chapter 33
Allison's pov
I stared at the pictures that Zander handed to me. I looked at them and I was shocked that the little girl in the pictures looked like me. I was crying in a couple but there was Wyatt too. I also saw another little boy and girl. I started to remember that day.
Flashback to 13 years ago
“Hurry up, don't dottle, we won't wait for you.” I could hear my mother say. I was enjoying looking at all the wonderful sights, our parents had brought us to the city for the weekend and even I was allowed to go. We had gone to the movie theater and it was amazing the smell of the delicious popcorn still rang in my nose. I still couldn't believe there was a big screen that we could watch a movie on. Now we were at the big park in the city. There was some kind of carnival going on and there were alot of kids and adults. The adults were standing around talking and drinking while the kids were playing games and walking around. I was amazed at all the colors and sounds and smells.
“Oh I want some cotton candy!” I heard Olive yell.
She went sprinting and mom went after her. They came back a few minutes later and had two big bags of cotton candy. We all went to grab some but something caught my hand or rather someone.
“You know the rules, you're not allowed to have any.” I heard a sparky voice. It was my mother. She held my wrist with an iron grip and I tried not to show it hurt.
“Yes mam, sorry.” I bowed my head and waited for everyone to finish.
Soon we were off and waiting for what Olive or Wyatt to do next.
“Here I snuck some for you.” Wyatt handed me some of the cottony heap.
“Wow, thank you!” I took it and stuffed it in my mouth. It was delicious and it melted almost instantly in my mouth.
“Glad you like it, just don't get caught by mom or dad.” Wyatt gives me a sad look.
“I won't, I promise.” I smile back hoping to make him smile.
“We are going to go on some rides with the girls. Wyatt, would you like to come along?” My mother asks in a sweet voice that is not her own.
“No, I think I will walk around and look at some of the games.”
“Ok, make sure Allison doesn't cause trouble. Or there will be consequences.” My mother said in a hard tone.
“Yes mam, I won't cause any trouble.” I said bowing my head a bit.
“Good, I expect you will not do anything to embarrass us.”
“I promise I won't.”
We watched as our parents and two younger sisters walked away and then we almost sprinted to the games. Wyatt played a few rounds and he made sure our family wasn't watching and then he let me play a few rounds. I had won a teddy bear but I had Wyatt hold it so our parents didn't know. I didn't feel like getting punished for disobeying.
“Look.” Wyatt said, pointing toward a food truck. “I'm hungry. How about you?” he asked, looking at me.
“I am but you know the rules, I can't eat until everyone else has eaten.” I frowned.
“”It's ok, we can share.”
Wyatt pulled me over and we got in line. We were behind a group of boys that looked to be older, probably around Wyatt's age. The group was being obnoxious and loud. As we were there longer, I noticed that the boys were bullying other kids. One boy tripped another and the kid fell and started crying and the group were laughing. I watched as the boy ran away and disappeared in the crowd. I felt bad for the little boy. Finally the older boys got their food and started walking away. I could hear them cackling about something or someone. We got our corndog and Wyatt looked around to make sure no one saw us. I took the first bite and it was amazing. The greasy fair food tasted so good. Finally we finished and went to look around some more. Wyatt was playing some games while I again saw the same group of boys but this time there was a smaller younger boy with them but I noticed that while the older boys enjoyed picking on younger kids and making them cry the younger boy looked uncomfortable. I decided to go find Wyatt, being around so many people was making me nervous. I guess I wasn't watching where I was going because I bumped into one of the boys and he pushed me down on the ground. I started crying and that's when it started.
“Oh look guys fatty fell and now she's crying.” The boy who pushed me down said while standing over me. I willed myself to stop crying but I couldn't. My body hurt and I just wished Wyatt was there.
“Hey, get away from her!” a boyish yell came from behind me. I turned around and Wyatt was there leaning down.
“Hey what happened? Are you ok? Are you hurt?” He rushed out looking me over.
“I'm ok, the boy pushed me down and called me fatty.” I could see my brother's eyes change. He was too young to get his wolf but his eyes would still change every so often. He got back up, pulling me up along with him and turned to the group.
“Which of you meatheads pushed my sister and called her fatty?” He yelled out.
“What's it to you?” A boy asked coming forward out of the group.
“I want to know which one of you hurt my sister.” My brother said again with a calm unlike a 12 year old.
“Well that's easy because none of us did. Your fat sister fell on her own because she is clumsy and she started crying.” The boy laughed.
My brother was not happy, I could see it on his face. And that's when the fight started. Wyatt grabbed a hold of the boy and punched him in the nose. All I saw at first was red running down his face as he clutched in pain. The other boys, seeing what happened, jumped in and started attacking Wyatt. Wyatt was skilled even as a young boy to defend himself and within minutes all the boys were holding their noses or their faces that were bleeding. Wyatt came out of the fight with a few scratches and a couple bruises that were starting to form.
“Hey let's go before we get in trouble.” Wyatt chuckles.
“Are you ok?” I touched his face and he flinched.
“Of course, a few scrapes and bruises are nothing.” He said taking my hand. We were leaving when I felt a light touch on my arm.
I turned around and saw the young boy that was with the group of boys.
“I am sorry my brother and his friends picked on you so I wanted to give you this. I made it for a girl I like in class but I wanted to give this to you. And also I think you're pretty. Don't listen to what my brother and his friends said.
I stared after the boy and looked down at a beautiful bracelet, it looked like he had spent a long time making it perfect. I touched it softly and admired it. I tried to look for the boy but he was already gone.
“We should go before mom and dad start looking for us. By the way, that was sweet of your boyfriend.” He laughs and nudges me.
I don't say anything but for once in a very long time I feel happy.
End of flashback
“Wait so you were the boy that gave me this bracelet?” I ask Zander looking at him.
“Yes, I felt bad that my brother and his friends had bullied you so I wanted to say sorry.”
“Wait, you have a brother?” I asked shocked this was the first time I had heard Zander mention he had a brother.
“Yes, I do. He's older than me and lives a bit of a shady life. I don't associate with him unless I have to.” Zander says sharply.
“I'm sorry I didn't realize.” I said, giving Sam the pictures. “Well I'm going to go out for a walk. It's a beautiful fall day and I want some fresh air.” I told Zander.
“You know what? I will join you if you don't mind.” Zander said standing close to me.
“Oh um, I don't mind but don't you have work to do?”
“Yes but I can take a couple hours for a walk. And I should accompany my beautiful wife In case any men want to talk to you.
“Ok, whatever you say.” I smiled at him.
