Chapter 28

Zander's Pov
Why did I do that? Why did I tell Allison that I didn't want a relationship? I'm so stupid! I watched her leave my office and I could see the hurt in her eyes and the unshed tears in her eyes threatening to fall. I wanted to call her back and hold her and never let go. But it's true I haven't wanted a relationship with anyone for years. I just keep girlfriends for the media so people can stop guessing and trying to be in my business. I regret hurting Allison, she doesn't deserve that. But I can't take it back now. I'm not good enough for Allison. I push those thoughts away and look at the time. I'm going to be late, if I don't leave now and I have many meetings I must attend today. I groan thinking about them. I get my papers I was working on and put them in my folder. I walk out to the hallway and walk downstairs. I look out and I see Allison walking around. Her back is to me and I watch her for a few minutes then decide to leave. I go to my car and get in, and drive away. I get to my building and park, I remember when I had brought Allison with me and she just made the day better. I can't think about that now. I greet the two women at the front desk and head toward my elevator. I get in and push my floor. I get off the elevator and head for my office. I don't see Lacey right away and just walk in. I sit down and get my papers out. Today I'd going to be a long day.
Tara's pov
It's 4 o'clock when I reach my brother's house. I can't wait to spend some time with Allison. It's so nice having a sister now especially when I only have two brothers. I park outside the front door and text Allison I'm here. Not even a minute later she comes out and gets in the car.
“Hey Alli! Are you ready to have some fun? I say smiling at her.
“Alli huh? I like that no one has called me Alli before. Yes I'm ready for some fun.” She smiles back.
“Alright, let's get some early lunch before the movie than we can sneak snacks inside.” I chuckle. Alli just smiles and shakes her head.
We reach a cute little dinner not too far from the movie theater, I park and we both get out. We walk inside and it's small and with few people. The inside is quiet and quante. We find a booth and sit down and soon a waitress comes and takes our drink order. I look at Alli and she doesn't seem happy at all.
“Hey is everything ok?” I ask worried.
“Oh yeah everything is fine.” Alli says. I'm not convinced at all.
“Is it my brother? Did he do something?”
“Well not exactly. Do you know anything about his past girlfriends? I met Tori last night.”
“What how did you meet her?” I ask.
“She showed up at the house and wanted to see if Zander really had gotten married.” Alli says, looking away.
That bi**h doesn't she have anything else better to do than try to get back with Zander.
“Don't worry about her. She will probably find someone else soon enough. And to answer your question about Zanders past, well he has had about five girlfriends but none ever seem that serious. In fact the only woman I have ever known to hold a place in Zanders life is you.” Alli looks shocked.
“Really what makes you think that?” Alli says, looking down at the table.
“Because from what I heard from the girls at the company Zander is very protective over you and a bit possessive.” I chuckle. Alli looks stunned. “I know you too were forced to marry but I haven't seen Zander look at anyone else like he does to you since Amber.” Oops I wasn't supposed to say that.
“Who is Amber?” Alli questions me.
Oh crap how did I let that slip?
“Um well I can't tell you. You will have to ask Zander yourself.” I can tell Alli is frustrated but she doesn't say anything.
We get our food and it looks delicious, we both got burgers and fries. We are both eating quickly appreciating how good the food is. Alli is about half way done when she puts down her burger and eats a few more fries.
“I think I'm full.” Alli says, looking at me.
“Really? Aren't you hungry?” I look at her plate doubtfully. “If you're really full you can take it along and finish it later.” I say looking at my plate that is devoid of any burger and just fries now.
“Ok I'll ask the waitress to bring me a box.” Alli smiles.
We pay and Alli gets her box and we leave. We decided to walk to the theater because it's not far. I spot a convenience store and think about snacks. “We should totally get some snacks!” I grab Alli before she can say anything and pull her into the store. We look around at all the snacks and choose a few. We pay and leave. “It's a good thing I brought my big tote along so we can sneak these through.” I giggle. “When was the last time you went to the theater?” I ask Alli.
“I have been to the theater once a long time ago when I was probably around six or seven. So it's been awhile.” She muses.
“So where did you grow up? There isn't a lot about you that I know.” I give Alli a questioning look.
“Well I grew up in a small town about four hours away. And I'm the second oldest, I have an older brother and three younger sisters. Wyatt is my brother and my sisters are Lydia, Kate and Olive. I worked as a child care worker in my hometown. I love working with children. And I love to draw although I'm not very good. And I love animals, but dogs and cats are my favorite. And I love Wolves too.” She rambles out.
“You like wolves? I ask skeptical.
“Oh yes, I love them.”
“Well Wolves are ok I guess. Actually a couple weeks ago I saw a wolf in the park. My friend and I were walking and a man came up to bother us and outta nowhere this giant wolf comes out from the shadows and growls at the man and he runs away.” I laugh at the memory. I remember the look on the man's face.
“Wow you saw a wolf?” Alli asks, bringing me out of my thoughts.
“Yeah and what is strange is how the wolf almost looked like it knew what it was doing and funny thing is, it seemed like it nodded its head to me when I thanked it for saving us.” I know it must sound stupid.
“Wow that sure is amazing!” Alli says. “And don't worry I believe you. No matter how outrageous it sounds.” Alli nudges me in the arm.
“Could you also not tell Zander? He would just think I'm crazy.” I chuckle.
“Sure I won't tell Zander.” Alli smiles at me.
“Thank you, sis.” Alli looks at me surprised. But then she just smiles and looks down at the ground.
We walk in silence, we get to the theater and pay for our tickets and sit down to wait for the movie to start. After the movie we go out and walk back to the car.
Allison's pov
The movie was great. It was a comedy and actually really funny. I can't remember the last time I actually liked to watch a movie. It was great to spend time with Tara. She was nice and someone I always wanted to have as a sister. My own sisters weren't nice to me except for Lydia. Kate and Olive were always cruel with their words and actions toward me. They were always perfect though in our parents' eyes. Wyatt and Lydia were the only ones to not like how our family treated me much less the whole pack. I stop those sad thoughts from entering my mind.
“Well what else should we do? It's only 7:30pm. Ooh we should go to a party!” Tara says, looking at me with mischief.
“I don't know about that?” I'm a little apprehensive about the idea.
“Oh please, we won't be out that long!” Tara holds my arm looking in at me.
“Ok, as long as we are back by ten.” I say nibbling my lower lip.
“Awsome, you're going to love it!” Tara turns to her car and we get in. “Let's go to my dorm room and we can get ready there.” She says.
I nod, and take my phone out. I was going to text Zander to let him know but stopped remembering that he probably wouldn't even care. We are just friends after all and he's busy and probably wouldn't appreciate me bothering him.
