Chapter 32 -Clarifying feeling
Since Jennifer had agreed, things had a direction.
Eddie decided to take Jennifer out for a walk first.
The place was in a small old town, the weather was cool in the early autumn, the boy rowing the oar boat waved to the new arrivals, the sound of the oar was melodious, behind him came the yell of the early riser, and the steaming buns were ready.
The relaxed, slow-paced life is the look everyone envies.
Eddie naturally took her hand, and Jennifer was slightly stunned. They were about to get married, so it was not a good idea to be shy, so she did not refuse.
After a silent response, Eddie was so nervous that his palms were sweating.
On the way, Eddie bought her a lot of trinkets, but Jennifer was always indifferent and did not seem so excited.
She ate casually and when she arrived at the fancy private room she had booked in advance, she said she was tired and fell asleep until late afternoon.
" Jennifer, wake up, let's go for a walk." She got up and picked out a red dress from her suitcase and put it on, because every time in her dreams she lived as passionately and openly as the sun, and after getting everything she wanted to live for herself for once.
Eddie spent the whole day out scouting, just so he could take her for a walk at night. The town was so beautiful after nightfall that Jennifer was tired of walking, so she sat directly on the river bank, stretching her feet and swinging in the river, her red dress fluttering, so beautiful.
Young couples set up lanterns of various colors by the river, their orange lamps forming a line that reflects the warmth of the white walls and ink tiles behind them.
Eddie took a cup of flower tea and walked over to hand it to her, gently reminding her, "Go ashore, in case you catch a cold."
The Buddha can redeem the suffering but cannot redeem the unwilling to come ashore
It was only after the autumn breeze had chilled her ankles that Jennifer stood up and followed Eddie back.
There are no incandescent lamps here, the stalls are set up with orange tiled lamps, the fiery red light hits down and the goods are especially nice.
Jennifer stopped at the stall selling pies, the granny saw how good she looked and gave her a piece for free, Jennifer was in a bit of a trance, Simon loved these pies more than she did, she had to laugh at him every time she saw one, not afraid of choking to death.
The memories were so overwhelming that Jennifer didn't have any interest in going out, and Eddie could see that right away.
As soon as the holiday was over, Jennifer went back to work, trying to familiarize herself with the company's business so that she could strengthen her management.
But as soon as she stepped into the office, she was startled by the sight before her eyes, her own secretary was no longer there, instead it was Simon sitting in the assistant's position, and when he saw her return, he even stood up to greet her, "Boss, welcome back." "What do you mean? Why are you sitting here?" Jennifer's hatred was written on her face and she raised her voice in no good way when she saw him, but Simon replied matter-of-factly, "I'll be your assistant from now on and I hope to help you in any way I can."
"Assistant? Who gave you permission to step into my office without my orders?"
"The company's arrangement, the orders I received, was to be your assistant." As soon as Jennifer heard this, she knew that it was probably Eddie who had done the deed, and she said in a cold voice, "There is no need for that."
"Jennifer." Simon knew it was hard for her to accept herself, yet he still wanted to fight for the chance to stay by her side.
"Please, don't kick me out, okay? I really just want to see you every day, nothing else."
"But the thing that makes me most sick is the sight of you."
After the words were said, Jennifer turned her head and walked out of the office without looking back, directly dialing the phone at the entrance of the building to find Eddie to ask for his punishment.
"Why did you put Simon in my office? Aren't you the chairman of the George Group, when did you get to be in charge of my company's affairs too?"
In the face of Jennifer's anger, Eddie seemed to have expected it, and he was silent for a while before speaking, " Jennifer, you actually still have Simon in your heart, don't you?"
This time it was Jennifer's turn to be silent. Faced with such a blunt question, she could have simply denied her feelings for Simon, but her mind unconsciously conjured up the image of Simon lowering his head and begging for forgiveness.
She had fooled everyone, but she could not hide her heart.
"Jennifer?" Eddie gently called out to wake her up at the other end of the phone, and then spoke, " Jennifer, let yourself go, okay? I have also decided to let you go, if the three of us are destined to have one person lose their soul, I would rather that person be myself, so that at least you can still be happy."
"Eddie ......" Jennifer wanted to say something, but did not know how to speak.
"You hear me out."
Eddie pressed out his cigarette and remained silent for a while before continuing, "I can see clearly and understand from the outings in the past few days, the person you like the most is still him, right?"
"But I can't forgive him."
