The Best Revenge
"Did you hurt?"
Cherie saw something on her eyes.
At that time, Cherie has just returned from work. It's early morning. No wonder Cherie is surprised to find a young man in this time.
"Do you want to be slaughtered by the Ghouls or the criminals?"
Cherie didn't get any answer. She then grabs the young man's hand and took him home.
"I don't have time to go to hospitality. I'm tired. Sleep in a room on the first floor. If you feel hungry, just take the food in the black refrigerator. Don't open the red fridge, because it contains body parts. You must know what food is. Ghouls, aren't they?"
Cherie winked at the young man. She immediately cleaned herself up and fell asleep instantly without worrying that the young man would throw a tantrum.
Grim would faithfully guard her while she sleep. The wolf did look tame when he is near Cherie. Don't get him wrong, he can get pretty wild if Cherie is in danger. It is the instinct of a guard.
When the sun is up, Cherie is still asleep in her dreamland. She only woke up at ten o'clock.
"Have you had breakfast?"
"Thanks for your help. I couldn't make breakfast for you because I don't know how to Ghoul. My name is Dion, by the way."
"Oh, hi Dion. I don't mind. I hope you are comfortable with my home. By the way, if you have a problem, you can tell me. Don't think of me as a stranger because I intend to help."
"Can you kill my parents?"
Cherie walks towards the window, she open the window so the cigarette smoke could fly into the outside air.
"What are you going to give me by that?" challeng Cherie.
"I will give my body for you."
Cherie chuckles softly, it seem that she has already guessed the conclusion of this young man's matter.
"I'm not interested with you," Cherie reply.
"Is it because of my thin body?"
"No, it ain't because of that. I hate human body that wants to die of hatred and despair. Look, we are Ghouls, by no means monster or predator. If you feel disappointed in the world, revenge is the key."
Dion chuckled, "I don't have money, friends and skills. You think life is a fairy tale? Seriously. I'm tired of living in poverty."
"Do you think death is the way out? Don't be a coward. You're just lazy to try. Ah, have you tried?"
Dion averted his gaze, he is reluctant to look at Cherie. If this is the case, Cherie will be more confident in her decision.
"You might think about dying, but don't kill yourself. Do you understand?"
"Who knows!"
Cherie stubbed out her cigarette and took a stock of drinks from the refrigerator.
"I'll teach you how to take revenge beautifully. The first thing you should do is take care of yourself. You're too skinny. Work out at the gym and meet a guy named Ronald. He'll train you."
Cherie takes a card from her purse and handed it to Dion.
"Buy some clothes. It's not free. You have to pay for it by being a better person. Don't refuse it, you need my help."
In one month of training, Dion underwent many changes. His body became more well-groomed and healthy thanks to physical exercise and adequate nutrition. Of course, Cherie didn't give up, she gives Dion guidance on how to survive the situation.
"I can't protect you forever that's why I taught you how to survive."
"At first I thought why foreigners are so nice to me. Apparently, so far I haven't met a foreigner like you. Even though you're not human, why are you so nice?"
Cherie chuckled hearing that, "Humans are indeed the scariest. I'm not lying when I say this."
They both chuckled at that. Both understand how life is sometimes very difficult because of the actions of some humans.
"I'm only 20 years old, but I feel like I want to retire from the hustle and bustle of the world."
"That makes sense. I'm not going to judge you because you live your life. One thing you have to remember, that you always have a place to come home to. Come yesterday if you needed help."
It's not an expulsion. Cherie sincerely said it. She already tought that she suited this young man because of his easygoing nature.
"You know, I envy your dominant side. You push me to keep doing what you want in a positive way. I'm glad to do it because it all ended well."
"Really? Thank goodness for that. Most people hate this dominant trait of mine. They say women have to obey. I've never forced anyone to do what I want. If they want to do it, go ahead. If they don't, that's fine." Cherie said while shrugging her shoulders at the end. She closed her eyes while enjoying the sunset on the roof with Dion.
This has been like a routine for them since a month ago. Dion did not tell the problem in detail, he still told it in general. Cherie didn't mind that, she certainly understood the privacy that Dion is guarding.
"Humans often assume that they are the ones who are hurt and hurt the most. In fact, without them realizing it, there are other people who are hurt because of them. Nobody is perfect in this world, right? Neither did your parents."
Dion sighed heavily, Cherie is right.
"You mean I have to forgive them?"
"Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting, right? Forgiving means that you want to make peace with the situation. If you keep holding on to your pain, you will be destroyed because of yourself. Life is hard. Do you want to hold your pain to the end?"
"It's so hard to forgive," said Dion.
"Indeed, at least you are trying to come to terms with the situation. This is the reason I ask you to float, so that you are not shackled by your pain. You must turn your pain into strength. Show the world that you are the winner."
Dion smiled faintly, he rubs the deep scratches on his neck. It is the mark of his parents who almost killed him. The wound will probably always leave an imprint on his body. Until whenever.
"Cherie," Dion called to the Ghoul woman beside him.
"You once said that revenge was the key. What did you mean then?"
Cherie opened her eyes. At first, he had been swept away by the gentle caress of the twilight light that caressed his face.
"Right, I remember it now."
"Say, I'm waiting your words. I want to know. Is that something hard to do?"
Cherie bit her lip, it is her habit when she is thinking.
"What I mean is, a key that leads you to peace."
"What do you mean?"
Cherie look at Dion.
"The best revenge is forgiveness. Trying to make peace with the situation and rise from adversity. That is the best revenge we can do, Dion. You might try of you want."
