Chapter Twenty-Five (Sin)

I hated leaving Amaya with Samuel, but I had no choice if my plan was to be put into action, I needed to be far away from her, and if Abigail was missing had it already started?

I headed towards the village searching for Abigail, As I reached the path heading to the village, she ran into me. I looked down at her panicked face as she looked up at me, confused.

“You need to go Sin, or the plan won’t work, I believe they will come after us soon, there are rumors going around town that Pastor Gideon has some kind of secret weapon to find witches, everyone in town is talking about it."

“Calm down Abigail, our plan will work.” I spoke to her as she rushed through her story.

“But I didn’t think I would be putting my own daughter in danger.” She sniffed as she looked at me, tears in her eyes. “Why did you pick her?”

“To be honest, I didn’t know it was her, it was a coincidence, I swear.” I reassured her. “I only found out it was your daughter when I saw the oracle. Have you known the whole time?”

“You think I wouldn’t recognize my own daughter?” She laughed, “She shares a lot of similarities with her dad.” she mumbled, wiping the tears from her face.
“You could’ve let me know.” I frowned.

“I figured you knew, and it annoyed me because her father would never forgive me if something happens to her. I would never forgive me.” Abigail fretted. “He gave his life to get us out of there.”

“I realize that nothing bad is going to happen to her. Go back to Amaya act like nothing has changed. We will get this to work, and it will fix things.” I reassured her.
“Thank you, Sin.” She squeezed my arm before heading to the cottage.

If everything was happening soon, I needed to prepare things on my end. As I made a mental list of what I had to do, the flames consumed me, bringing me back to my quarters in the castle.

I headed to my closet and rummaged through the boxes I had stored there, looking for the necklace that was part of the set with the ring my father had given me. I needed the necklace for Amaya. It protects the wearer from the scorching heat in hell so they don’t turn to ash when they come here, whereas my ring which was tied to the necklace would share some of my demonic abilities with the wearer. The necklace and ring were passed to the King when he began his reign going back farther than I care research.

There was a king who had a human fated mate, and the necklace and ring were created so they could live in hell together. The ring siphoned the kings aura and fed it to his Queen so she would have some of the traits of a demon but mostly to protect her, it would help her heal and survive the heat as well as making her stronger so she could defend herself.

Reaching behind some boxes in the top of the closet, I found the small velvet box. I opened it to reveal a ruby pendant in the shape of a heart on a chain made of white gold. Closing the box, I shoved it into my pocket and replaced the objects that had become disorganized during my search before leaving the closet.

Leaving my quarters, I went to the throne room looking for Merula, not finding him there, I expanded my search to the kitchen, finding him in a corner of the kitchen eating, and drinking spirits.

“Merula, I have been looking everywhere for you.” I scolded him.

“Sorry, sire.” He jumped up after hearing me. “What do you need?”

“I need two rooms made up. We will be having guests in a few days. Make sure they are close to my quarters and tell no one about this. Is that understood?”

“Yes, sire.” He nodded and hurried from the room, next on my list was to pick up Amaya’s things. My flames engulfing me as I emerged in front of the coffee shop, I had seen her at. Immediately I was almost hit by a car, jumping out of the way at the last second.

Cursing, I made my way to her apartment. Shielding my form from the eyes of humans, I easily broke the lock and entered, luckily Nisha wasn’t home.

Finding Amaya’s room, I smiled thinking that it fit her perfectly, there were crystals and candles on every surface, she had two large bookshelves filled with books on everything spiritual. Astrology, divination, spells, creatures, and books for tarot readings, along with an extensive collection of cards and runes. She was a witch before I had brought her to the past. Finding a suitcase; I filled it with her clothes. A large jewelry box sat on her dresser filled with unique pieces with symbols on them. I added it to the bag.

Deciding it would be best to bring everything with me, I snapped a picture of her room with the phone I found on the dresser, and I started packing everything up. I wanted her to choose me, but I also wanted her to be comfortable in hell and the way I saw it, if she had her own things there, it would be more welcoming than anything new I could buy her.

Deciding I would need more help, I summoned some lower-class demons to help me bring things back to the castle. After an hour or so everything had been moved, I returned to my now cramped quarters, after Merula had set up the room I would have him move her belongings in and set them up the same as her apartment.

Now to wait for the pieces to fall, I was nervous about my plan, but I knew it would work, or at least phase one, I needed her to come here with me from there. I would have yet more work to do. I hoped that when she saw Lazarus in hell that she would reject him and choose me, unlike him, I was honest with her about what I was, although I was putting her in danger, so was I really any better? If she knew why I had to, she would forgive me.

I got up and poured myself a drink before sitting in my armchair and using the stone I had placed in Amaya’s shoulder, listened in on her conversations.
She and Abigail were talking while tending to my insect of a brother.

“Tomorrow we will have to go out for a bit, there are some things we need to collect.” Abagail said.

“I’m just glad you are okay, I thought that something had happened to you when you hadn’t returned.”

“I had to help a child in the village that has fallen ill.” Abigail shared, "There’s a sickness spreading, which can be troublesome, people are dangerous when they are scared." She warned.

A knock at the door pulled me from my spying. “What?” I asked, annoyed as the door opened and Merula poked his head in.
“Sire, the rooms are ready.”

“I want this moved to the room that is closest to this one and set it up like this.” I showed him a picture that I had taken with her cellphone. He nodded and began moving the boxes into the room.

Pulling the curtains around the bed closed, I laid down, planning to sleep; her face popped into my head; I thought about her enchanting ocean blue eyes full of intelligence and her vibrant long red hair curling around her face falling to her waist, her slim, curvy frame, I have never felt this way about another woman before and I found it difficult to keep my hands off of her when she was around me.

The thoughts of her caused my body to react, becoming uncomfortable, I groaned and headed into the bathroom for a cold shower, as I promised myself that one way or another, I would have her.
