Chapter Twenty-Seven (Lazarus)
Livid, I followed as Pastor Gideon took Amaya to the church, how had I not realized he would come for Abigail tonight, he had told me it would be soon. I had planned for Amaya to be gone when it happened. The damn device I gave the pastor just signed her death warrant. My mother had promised me Amaya would be safe.
I followed as he walked inside the church and headed towards the cellar; he opened it and the two men that had Abigail threw her in before Pastor Gideon threw Amaya in beside her. I gritted my teeth as anger consumed me, how dare he even touch her, but to treat her this way he would pay!
After the door was closed, Pastor Gideon locked it and looked at his two henchmen, “Guard this door until we have proper cells built.” He ordered. The men nodded and moved to stand on either side of the door.
The courthouse was being renovated, a back portion was being built on for cells and an office.
Pastor Gideon left the room, and I followed as he headed to his office. He walked around his desk and took a seat. I closed the door but remained standing.
“What can I help you with?” he asked, raising a brow.
“We had a deal; you could take the old woman but not her.”
“So, you are protecting witches now?” he asked, leaning back in his chair, assessing me.
“Our deal was for the old lady; I gave you that monocle and I can take it back.” I threatened, As I fought to keep my anger in check.
“You take it back and I will have you thrown in there and tried as a witch as well.”
I laughed, “You can go ahead and try.” I could feel my demonic aura slipping, my claws lengthening as I watched the old man squirm.
“She will be put on trial like everyone else.” He declared, his voice shaking. “Now leave this house of God.”
“You think you can order me around?” I spat at him.
“Now son, is that anyway to talk to our dear friend?” Hellebore asked as she walked out of the shadows from behind the pastor. “He is, after all, helping us with our problem, is he not?” she questioned, her eyes swirling purple and pink as she sat beside Pastor Gideon at his desk.
Pastor Gideon seemed to be in a sort of trance. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her like he was bewitched, he watched every movement she made closely, not wanting to miss anything. It was confusing to watch. She had the same hold on my father. It was unnerving how the man lost all control.
“Why are you here?” I questioned irritably.
“To make sure you don’t screw this up!” She declared as she moved closer to me, a look of warning on her face.
“You wanted Abigail out of the way. You promised to leave Amaya out of it.”
“She shouldn’t have got in the way.” Hellebore shrugged.
“You know who she is to me and still you brush it off like it is nothing?”
“What can I say, she is not what I want for you.”
“No, you want me alone, so you can use me as a puppet, I have had enough of this, and I am done with you.”
“If you leave now, I will tell her about your part in everything and how you helped get Abigail caught.” Hellebore threatened, her eyes going snake like as she moved to stand in front of me.
She reached up and stroked my cheek, “Don’t worry dear son, all is fixable.” She looked me in the eyes, "you will stick to our plan will you not?”
Against my will, I nodded, I hated when she used this ability on me; I hated not knowing what she was or who I was, for that matter. I would figure out a way around this and I will find a way to defeat her. On my life I swear it, for now I will just have to endure the loss of free will.
“Now be a good boy and go see what Sin is up too, I think he may be plotting against us.” She purred before she turned and walked back into the shadows, disappearing into her flames.
Seeming to snap out of it, the Pastor looked at me, “Hmmm, I seem to have forgotten what we were chatting about. Never mind, on your way Samuel, we will hold the trail in a few days."
Why was it that they never remembered her, she’d come in and bewitch them and even the strongest demon I knew would forget her involvement or that she had even been in the room to begin with? It was infuriating.
I nodded my head and left his office heading out of the church and towards the trees behind it, the minute I was out of view from the town's folk my flames consumed me, and I was back in Hell's castle court.
Demons can only time travel because in the different planes of existence, time travels at different speeds, and because demons were designed to travel in between the planes. They could enter different pockets of time if they knew how to time their portals. Being royals, my brothers and I and even my mother had an easier time jumping between planes, we are also able to control who can see us and who we will remain invisible to.
When lower demons jumped into different planes, they would need to hide in a human body to be able to stay, as they would have no corporeal form, they would take over the person's consciousness so they could carry out whatever plan they had intended.
Seeing Sin on his throne, I walked over to him. “Evening brother.”
“Hey, Samuel…” Sin sneered as he looked at me.
“I’m surprised you didn’t tell her who I really was.”
“She will find out soon enough and it will only work in my favour.” He smirked as he drank from his cup of spirits.
“We shall see, won’t we?”
“Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be following her around like the stalker you are?” Sin asked me.
“I could say the same to you.”
“Unlike you, I have a kingdom to run, so as much as I would love to spend all my time lying around and playing patient to the beautiful Amaya, I am unable to.”
“She is my fated mate, why not just give up?” I scolded him.
“Is she now?” Sin smiled.
“What is it?”
“You will find out soon enough.” He laughed and added, “So, why are you really here? I’m assuming Hellebore sent you?”
“Nope, just came to let you know that the Pastor has locked up Abigail and Amaya and they are to be put on trial for witchcraft.”
Sin nodded and frowned but didn’t reply.
“What hellcat got your tongue?”
“No, there is nothing I can do, your mother has reinforced the whole church so I can’t get in or out.”
That was surprising, “I wonder why she did that?”
“Who knows?” Sin replied, bored as he drank from his cup again.
“You have something planned, don’t you? There is no way you would be this calm.”
“Maybe I do, maybe I don’t.” He shrugged, eyeing me intently.
“You better, because if something happens to her, I will kill you and my mother for dragging her into it.” I spat before turning and leaving.
“At least I know you can actually care about something.” Sin retorted as I turned to face him.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I snapped.
“It means what it means.” He replied as got up and left the throne room.
Of course, I care. Everything I do is to protect those I care about. stupid asshat can't see that he really is blind.
