Chapter Thirty-Seven Sin POV
My flames dispersed I was standing behind the crowd facing the platform. My heart hammering in my chest when I saw Amaya swinging by her neck, her feet flailing as she tried to breathe but couldn’t. In a flash I was on the platform, I grabbed her swinging form as panic ripped through me. My heart beating a mile a minute, I carefully removed the rope from her neck and uncovered her face before untying her hands.
“Please don’t let me be too late.” I begged to myself as I felt for a pulse. Why had she summoned me so late?
She choked in a breath and relief washed through me, her eyes darting around trying to focus, “Save Abigail!” she whispered.
“I will save Abigail, but in return, you need to make that deal.” I responded, trying to keep my composure, I would help her anyway, but I needed her bound to me to protect her in hell. "Do you agree to the deal, her life and in return you are bound to me?"
“Deal.” she whispered as she lost consciousness.
I saw Lazarus was standing behind the crowd watching the scene; the panic leaked from his face and he looked grateful, which threw me. He had never been grateful for anything I had done before. He nodded to me before disappearing into his flames.
I heard someone move behind me and turned to face the executioner, and a man who had his hands bound. The executioner advanced towards me as the crowd yelled angrily that the execution had been stopped. I turned around, snarling at him as my hat fell from my head, my horns shown to the panicked man.
“You dare harm what is mine!” I roared as rage consumed my being. My claws lengthening, I sliced through the ropes around Abigail’s neck and hands. She uncovered her face and removed the rope before making a beeline to Amaya.
“What do you think you are doing?” The executioner roared, finding his voice.
“Protecting what’s mine.” I had never been so angry in my life. All the hatred and anger I had, I directed at the man. He screamed, ripping at his clothes as life drained from his body and he became a husk. He looked like human jerky as he fell to the ground and turned to dust.
The townspeople screamed and fled; I turned to Abigail, who stared behind me in shock but said nothing as she turned back to Amaya.
“Is she okay?” I asked, kneeling next to Amaya.
“Y… yes, she will be. Her neck is severely bruised but not broken, and she is breathing. She just needs rest." She replied as she smoothed out her hair. Her eyes were puffy from crying and tears streaked her cheeks. She was bruised.
“Why did you wait so long?” Abigail accused, "Our plan didn't involve her getting hurt."
“I needed her to summon me, and she did it later than I had anticipated.” I told her. “We need to get out of here. I pulled the box with the necklace out of my pocket and placed it around Amaya’s neck."
“What’s that?” Abigail asked, eyeing up the necklace.
“Your Goddess essence will protect you in hell and this necklace is mystically connected to my, ring which is syphoning a small amount of my abilities and energy to her to protect her from hells atmosphere.”
“Lad, you thought of everything, didn’t you?” She praised me with a small smile.
“Yeah, the only problem is how to get her to live forever, I am immortal and watching my fated mate age and die is not something I think any demon wants to witness.”
“That is a dilemma, but I am sure you will figure it out."
"Who did this to her face?" I asked with a frown, noticing a black eye and split lip.
Abigail looked at the man, who had his hands bound. It was Pastor Gideon. "He did this and worse."
"Worse?" I asked, as rage blinded me.
"He tried to take what is yours." Abigail stated, "And Lazarus stopped him."
"I walked over to him."
"You touched her?" I growled at him..
He didn't answer but said, "God will protect me, you have no power here."
I grabbed his hand and ripped it clean from his arm as he screamed. I did the same to the other one. "You will touch nothing again." I growled..
Laughing manically, I grabbed him and as the flames erupted around me; I transported him to hell and as he materialized; he caught on fire, slowly burning and melting into ashy puddle. "Lets see God save you now." I hissed as he screamed in pain. His eyes exploding from the pressure of the hell plane. Once he was reduced to nothing, I teleported back to Amaya and Abigail.
"It's time to go," I told her as I looked at the stunned crowd.
“I have to go collect my things.” Abigail shared getting up.
“No need, I had my servants collect them. Let’s get out of here.”
I picked up Amaya careful of her neck and grabbed Abigail’s hand, my flames surrounded us again and this time when they cleared, we were standing in my throne room.
Lazarus, Hellebore and Rook were standing in the otherwise empty room waiting for us.
“What are you doing here?” I asked Lazarus and Hellebore, annoyed.
“Why would you bring her here?” Lazarus asked me.
“She is my fated mate, of course I would bring her here. How else would I protect her?”
“She is Lazarus’s fated mate.” Hellebore pointed out, annoyed. “And she shouldn’t be here at all!” she yelled at me as she pointed to Abigail.
Snarling, I turned to her, “I am King here, not you, and she is Amaya’s mother and if your future Queen wants her here, she is welcome. “
Hellebore took a few steps back, surprised, "She will fry with the heat here. They both will."
“You and I both know I won’t, and neither will my daughter.” Abigail replied coyly. Hellebore angrily stormed out of the room.
“We have a deal.” Lazarus stated as he eyed Amaya in my arms. "She has a few months left before she has to choose one of us."
“I have a separate room set up for her, I am aware of our deal.” I replied angrily. Like he was going to win anyway, she summoned me and made a deal with me which has now bound her to me, I felt bad for manipulating her but having her bound and able to summon another demon especially Lazarus would be problematic to my plans, it was bad enough she was his fated mate and mine. "Why didn't you stop them?"
"I vowed not to interfere." He responded, looking guilty.
"Hmmm, I wonder who too." I walked past Lazarus heading up the stairs to the room, I had ordered Merula to make up for her.
Lazarus and Abigail followed behind me.
“Oh, and her being doors down from your chambers is a coincidence?” Lazarus accused seeing where her room was.
“Yes, entirely.” I smirked as I opened the door and headed to her bed, placing her down carefully, checking her pulse again to ease my mind. I pulled the blankets over her and turned to Abigail and motioned for her to follow me. She hesitated, looking at Lazarus.
"I just want to make sure she is ok then I will leave." He told her.
She nodded and followed me into the hallway and I opened the door beside Amaya’s and let her in.
Abigail looked around the room and turned to glare at me. “How did you get the stuff from my workspace in the cave? Only witches can cross the barrier.”
I shrugged, “I had a friend of yours pick it up for me, you should have told me about the other witches you were training Abigail.”
She shrugged, “There were only two others, and I thought they had left town. That was, until I saw them at the gallows.”
"No, they were staying in the forest and helped my servants get your things, right before they were captured. I'm sorry Abigail."
"Thank you Sin." She smiled as she looked at her belongings that were placed carefully around the room.
“Of course. I am in debt to you, after all.” I smiled.
"Not to me. To the Goddess." she corrected.
"No, to you as well, because without you, I would have no fated mate." I really felt grateful to her.
She nodded and smiled. "I will go sit with Amaya." She stated, excusing herself from the room. I followed her to Amaya’s room.
“I’ll come check on her later.” Lazarus stated as he turned and headed down the hallway.
“I will be by later as well, let me know if she wakes up.” I told Abigail as I looked at Amaya sleeping on the bed.
“Won’t the bond you got her to make tell you that?” She accused, eyeing me suspiciously.
"Yes and no, I can sense when she is in danger and needs protecting and now that the bond is created, she can summon me at will if she needs, speaking of which." I walked over to Amaya and removed the summoning stone from her shoulder.
The stone was so small she wouldn’t have felt it. It was red and the size of a pea. Placing it had been easy because she was so distracted by my flames that she didn’t notice me pierce her skin with my claw and put it there, removing it was just as simple, she was out and now would never have to know. With the stone in my hand, I turned to leave.
“Aren’t you worried she will be angry at you for manipulating her like this?” Abigail questioned.
"Yes, I worry, but I have a feeling that when she learns everything, she will forgive me and understand the necessity of it all."
She nodded, and I left the room heading to the kitchens to make sure the demons I had sent to bring human food back had done so, if she had been imprisoned she would not have eaten for a few days and both her and Abigail must be starving.
