Chapter Fifty-Two (Amaya)
As we neared the cave, the water changed from a pink color to a thick lava. It was as if an invisible barrier separated the two liquids. The air grew thick and hot and even the boat heated up.
"Cana and Chusi, can you go to the castle and keep an eye on Hellebore?" I asked them.
They nodded, "See you soon Amaya," Cana said before she jumped in to the air, flying towards the castle.
When we reached the cave, Sin helped Abigail and me from the boat before grabbing a bag and leading us into the dark opening.
Sitting in the corner was an older man, he had sharp features, his chin and ears were pointed, and flames sprung from his head, making his two curved horns stand out. When he saw Sin, he smiled and stood to greet him, tiny fangs poked out from his mouth and his eyes were black.
“Sin, it’s so good to see you, and you brought guests, come sit.” He smiled.
“This is Amaya and Abigail.” Sin replied as he introduced us to him.
“It’s so nice to meet you. I am Magma.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” Abigail smiled.
Sin Handed Magma the bag,.
“Thank you, come sit.” Magma instructed again.
I looked around the space. All the furniture was carved from stone. A table and four chairs sat in the corner, there was a couch and coffee table along one wall and the cave seemed to go deeper into the mountain, I’m assuming, more caverns led out from this one.
Abigail and I took a seat at the table with Magma and Sin.
“How long have you been down here?” I asked him, distracted by his flaming hair.
“I have lost count.” Magma frowned.
“The furniture is amazing.” Abigail noted, looking around the room.
“Thank you, I carved it myself.”
“So, I’m assuming, since you brought provisions, that I still can’t come back to the castle?” Magma asked as he looked at Sin.
Sin nodded, “We finally know what Hellebore is and hopefully she will be out of the way soon.”
“Why can’t you come back to the castle?” Abigail asked, confused.
“I was exiled when Hellebore accused Sin’s mother and I of adultery, she is the reason I can’t come back. With others trying to stake a claim to the throne, it will not help Sin if an exiled criminal were to show up in court. Once the throne is secure, I will be able to come back.”
“When will the throne become secure?” Abigail asked.
“When Sin’s fated mate accepts him, and he can take on his full demon form. No one will be able to stand against him.”
Great, and he thinks I am his fated mate. I frowned as I listened to the conversation, “Sin is already King. Who else wants the throne aside from Hellebore?”
“Lazarus.” Sin replied.
“I don’t think Lazarus has an interest in the throne.” I frowned, “You should lift the sentencing to show that even though you are king, you can be merciful and correct the mistakes of your predecessors.”
Sin seemed to contemplate what I had said.
“Besides, Amaya can always send dragons after your enemies.” Abigail chucked.
“They aren’t at my beck and call.” I pointed out.
“Dragons?” Magma asked, surprised.
“Amaya is a druid. She can speak to the dragons and other creatures.” Sin informed him.
“With everything going on at the castle, another ally would be helpful.” Abigail added.
Sin thought for a moment, “Maybe it is time we brought you back to the castle. I need people I can trust around me.”
“Maybe he can help us figure out what is behind the hell gate?” I offered.
Magnus’s head shot up, “Which gate?”
“Envy.” Sin answered
“Why do you want to deal with that creature?” He asked in disgust.
“What do you mean? Hellebore is after it and the gate calls to Amaya.”
“If Hellebore is after that creature, it’s not only your throne that is in danger.”
“What is behind that gate?”
“Satan. A creature created from the evils of the earth to purge humans of their sins. The original evil, your ancestors locked him away, unable to kill him. He had gone mad with power. Being made from evil as the humans sins increased, so did his powers. They put him into a deep sleep before his power became too strong and sealed him away. My village was in charge of protecting the prison he is sealed away in. If Hellebore is trying to get to him, she is probably looking to steal the throne and rule with him.”
I frowned, thinking back. The first time I saw the creature, it was black, and I only saw his eyes. The second time, he was a large blue and green dragon. Could that be the creature behind the hell gate?
“What’s wrong dear?” Abigail asked me.
“I thought I met the creature from behind the gate and it wasn’t a man.”
“What do you mean?” Sin asked.
“When I was in Salem, I followed a thread while meditating that took me to a sleeping creature in darkness it opened its eyes and said I wasn’t supposed to be their yet, then when we came here, I saw the creature again only it was a dragon he said his name was Gibbes and he was protecting the gate."
“If you met the protector of the gate, that means you are supposed to help protect it.”
“How am I supposed to do that?” I asked confused, “I’m not even from hell.”
“I don’t think it is a coincidence that you can speak to dragons. You are here because you need to be. The Heaven plane may not think so, but our planes of existence do impact the earth plane and I think you are here to help protect it.” Magma Stated.
