CHAPTER 18: HOME

Aria

During the call with Aiden, I told him that I had an emergency to deal with and that I was very sorry to up and disappear like that on him.
It wasn't easy for me to tell him, at that moment, the emergency I was dealing with so I didn't tell him.
He knew something was wrong but he didn't go into details with it, and that I was thankful for. After a long pause and a change of topic, he asked me about the contract. I did tell him that due to this accident, I hadn't had the time to read throught it, but it was first on my to-do list for in the morning.
He said that he would call me in the morning to go over it with him and for me to have an open mind about it. He would also give me my space and a little more time to think the contract over until it was time for me to return back home, then he would expect to hear my answer.
I was also allowed to have my inputs and opinions about the contract as well.
Something was different about him, through his voice. He was being nice and understanding. Was it really because he missed me, or was it that he was hiding his anger through the phone, waiting for me to be in his presence.
He had decided that the earlier the better and we agreed that 8a.m would be the best time to call, seeing that I would be already awake.
After our conversation he wished me a good-night. I could lie, I missed Aiden very much. However, I knew that my business came first than anything else.
I had gotten home to my mothers' house by then. My mom was very rich, financially and in heart. Her house consisted of three floors and each floor was like an apartment. Each floor had a kitchen and dining room, a bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in closet, and a balcony. My room was on the second floor and I had turned one of my rooms into an office.
I walked in, threw my bags on the floor, and sat in my work chair. I stared at my computer thinking about if I wanted to get some work done tonight or just get some rest and wait until tomorrow. Seeing that I was already beyond exhausted, I picked the alternative. If I didn't get any sleep, I would not be able to think rationally after tonight, so I went to bed.
With today and all of these things going on around me, and my head spinning from crying mostly all day, I tried to get some sleep.
Sweet dreams to me, right?

*The Next Morning*

I could hear the birds chirping outside, and blaring car horns. It was morning already. I could instantly feel the little four hours of sleep that I had gotten wear off.
I slowly opened my eyes to feel a migraine coming on. All I wanted to do was to lay back down and cower under my sheets and get more rest, but I knew the day would not allow it. I had too much to take care of before I went crawling back to Aiden, (mental laugh).
"Ugh!!", I turned my head to look at my bedside clock and it was 6 in the morning. Aiden would be calling in another hour or so. I mentally prepared myself to get up and take a shower.
I went inside my closet and fetched a pair of grey joggers and a black crop top before I headed into the shower.
When I stepped inside the shower, the water was just right. I loved for my shower water to be hot and steamy. I loved the tingling and burning sensation it caused my skin to have.
I stood there under the shower head when an inage of my grandmother popped inside my head. I washed my hair and sung her favorite song under the water. I cried for a little while until I stopped myself. It's never healthy to cry as much as I was crying, hell I barely drunk enough water.
After my shower I put on my clothes and went down stairs to the main kitchen.
Alicia was one of the maids there and she was cooking breakfast for my mother. I wasn't sure if I wanted to eat or not, but the growling in my stomach said other-wise.
"Hello child!" Alicia said while walking over to give me a bear hug. She was in her mid-seventies and was a little older than my mom, well alot older. My mother was only 43. "You know, we have missed you. We all have. We are so sorry for your loss. If there is ever anything you need or want, do not hesitate to ask Dear. Thank goodness you're back."
I hugged her back and stared in her eyes, almost on the verge of crying, "I'm not back definitely, just for a while until we can get evrything taken care of and back to normal at least. I very much have missed you all too."
I gave her another hug and she smiled. "Well, at least to visit hmm? We will always be waiting on your arrival."
Alicia was one of the people that took care of both my mother and grandmother and she even helped take care of everything here when we went on family trips. She was well trusted and very well taking care of.
"By the way Dear, do you currently need anything?" she asked me and I was about to tell her no when again, my stomach growled.
She looked at me and smiled again, "I will cook you something fast. The other food I am currently cooking will still take a while. I will let you all know when that is finished. I know how much you like tuna sandwiches so I'll make that for you now? Yes?" I shook my head yes at her as she went to fix my breakfast, I call it, because whenever I did eat it was in the afternoon. She always knew what we liked and would always cheer us up by making it for us, since of course food was my favorite thing of the day.
She came and sat two plates on the table that had two tuna sandwiches and cheddar chips on them, and sat down. I looked at her puzzled and then she laughed and said, "You're not the only one who likes tuna, missy."
We ate and talked and laughed until I looked over at the grandfather clock and saw that it was already 7:50a.m and I hurriedly got up to put my plate in the sink and rushed up stairs to get ready for Aidens call. I only had ten minutes and I would have to plug in my computer charger because I failed to charge it last night.
I sat down in my office in front of my computer and waited for him to call me. As I did, my heart kept beating out of my chest. Why was it beating so loud? Was it because of me running up the stairs or was it because it was finally going to see him, hear his voice?
While I was thinking, my web cam rung and he appeared on my screen.
"Aiden?" I hung my mouth when looking at him, he was too hot. I froze when I saw him, then said his name like I wasn't sure if it was him or not.
"Aria..." he said with a smirk on his face. He took a long pause, "Finally. I finally get to see you again."
My heart nearly jumped out of my chest, when he said my name. Then, at that moment I found the answer to the question I asked myself.
I missed him.....
