Chapter 14: the path and the voice

Diana turned to look at the tunnel Dante pointed.
She knew that tunnel very well. That is the tunnel that leads to the Dungeon. Wait is her father actually planning on throwing Irene Into that dungeon or what?
She knew her father will never do such a thing. Her father trusts her completely and will never hurt any of her maids because of her mistakes.
Something is wrong somewhere. She needs to find out before it will be too late.
Without thinking twice, Diana walks towards the entrance of the tunnel and entered it.
She walked through the dark tunnel panting heavily as she come across some hefty spiders on her way.
She stepped on a a stone and slipped.
" Ouch" she winced when her ass hits the ground.
She held her waist with a painful expression on her face and start walking again.
Irene is like a sister and mother to her. She can't sit and watch her being hurt because of her.
Despite their status and relationship, Irene treats her like a younger sister. He tells her things her mother never spend time to tell her. She thought her so many things and give her due respect.
She respect her decision and never talked back at her. Irene took blames for her and she is not going to let her take another blame for her again.
She saw something crawling towards her and she step on it before moving forward.
The tunnel is quite dark but Diana eyes are used to darkness do she was able to find her way through the tunnel.
She let out a sigh when she got out of the tunnel and find herself in a garden. Does it mean they showed her the wrong tunnel or was it a lie that this tunnel leads to a dungeon.
She was so confused and don't know what to do. She placed her hands on her waist and look around with her heart thumping on her chest.
If anything happens to Irene, she won't be able to forgive herself and her father.
' follow that way' the tiny voice sneaked into her head and Olivia frown her face in anger.
" You again? Remember you lead me into the woods which puts me in this dilemma I'm in now" Diana said and look away.
She is not happy with that voice in her head. She always gets her into trouble and sneak away but today she is not in the room to listen to her deceits and tricks .
" Forget about the woods and follow that path" the voice said impatiently and Diana hits her head with her palm.
" Are you crazy? Go away and don't come back to my head again" Diana yelled at her and the voice froze in her head.
She was only trying to help. She wasn't expecting that yell from Diana.
" Fine do what you like princess. I won't bother you anymore" the voice said and sneak away and Diana finally let out a sigh of relief.
That stupid voice just interrupt her thoughts and she can't remember what she was thinking anymore. She bite on her lower lips and follow the path the tiny voice showed her. She really don't have any choice as her instinct is not even telling her anything. She was expecting her instinct to tell her something so that she can follow it but it didn't. She followed the path. The path is very tiny and it will be impossible for two people to walk side by side in it.
The path looks quiet and only the chipping sound of birds can be heard. She stumbled on a stone and saw a bracelet on a leaf.
' this bracelet belongs to Irene' She thought to herself.
She can remember the day she gave that bracelet to irene on her birthday.
Her eyes turned dark when she realised they took her that way and she wonder what they are actually planning on doing with her.
She really don't know where the part leads to but she really need to find Irene.
She didn't take any weapon with her except for the pin under her hair. She wore the bracelet and continue walking down the path. She grab a stick by the side and use it as a self defense.
Even if she hadn't trained well yet. She can still defend herself against some Intruders and bandits or even wild animals.
She arrived at a three junction. One path lead straight which was the one she is and the other two go left and right.
' which one do I go now?' she asked herself silently as she swing the wood in her hand.
Now she needs that tiny voice to come back and tell her which way to go.
She search for the voice in her head but couldn't find it.
Seems like the voice is angry and has finally left her for good. The voice really don't like it when Diana tells her to leave her alone. She hate it when she is being yelled at.
" Must you have to run away that far?" Diana asked with a calm voice even when she knew she is angry she don't have time to waist. The more time she waist, the more chances of them taking irene away. She really don't have time to waist. She needs to get back to the palace before sunset to receive her punishment from the royal council and when it's dark it won't be easy to take the path back and the tunnel too to the palace.
" This is why I don't like you a bit. You always lead me the wrong way and then leaves like nothing actually happened. Always getting me into trouble and sneaking away like some coward" Diana said with frustrated tone and stamp her feet on the ground.
She really don't know which part to take or she should just go back to the tunnel before it gets dark. What if she end up in a strange place?
