Chapter 25: Killing Hector

The party was still bursting with people as everyone danced with their partners.
" I told you she was going to drink the wine" Sarah said as she danced with Claudius and at the same time watching the king and his wife.
" The drug will put in the princess wine is working now. What are you planning to do now? " Sarah asked impatiently and Claudius smile at her. He already had everything planned out so there's nothing to worry about .
" I already planned everything out. You just have to trust me and watch me do the dirty work" Claudius smile evily at her and Sarah skilled back.
She really can't wait for this to be over.
The king danced with the queen for a while when he starts feeling strange.
" I will go check on the princess. I will be back soon" King Hector excused himself and the queen smiled warmly at him before going to sit on her seat beside the throne. King Hector walked out of the banquet hall without taking any of his guards along.
" I will be back" Claudius excused himself and went after king Hector. The hall way was quiet as everyone was in the banquet hall jubilating. King Hector turned around when he got to the spiral stair. He felt like someone is following him but any time he turned back, the shadow will hide in the darkness. He adjust his crown on his head and continue climbing the stairs. Before entering the princess room, he looked around first and check if anyone is actually following him. The royal soldiers opened the door and he walked inside the room.
He saw the princess sleeping on the bed with her hair falling over her face. He pushed the hair backward and tuck some strands behind her ear.
" I'm sure you're exhausted from your birthday. Sleep well child"He said stroking her hair gently as he don't seem to be able to take his eyes off her pretty face.
She looked exactly just like his mother except for the eyes which she took from him. Anytime he look at her, she reminds him of his mother who died for his sake just for him to get what rightfully belongs to him.
" I hope you be like your grandmother just the way you look like her. Always do good fight for what is right" he said still stroking her hair soothingly and Diana felt calm in her sleep. Her worrying heart became calm as she went into deep slumber with the soothing hands of her father and the effect of the drug in her wine.
Claudius climb the stairs up and got to the princess doorway where he saw two soldiers guarding the entrance. He almost forgot there were royal soldiers guarding the princess chamber.
' I need to think of a way to get the soldiers out of there' he thought to himself and approach the two soldiers and act as someone who was being chased by a ghost with his chest rising and falling.
" There's a snake. A huge snake climbing the spiral stairs" Claudius said in fright and the soldiers quickly drew their swords our from its shealth.
" Go quickly before it's comes to the princess chamber" Claudius urge them as he point towards the spiral stairs.
The soldiers quickly dashed towards the stairs forgetting their duty post. Claudius smile evily.
" Fools!" Claudius said before pushing the door of the princess room open.
King Hector wonder who will walked into the princess room without knocking.
He turned around and met the evil eyes of Claudius who approached him with a sinister smile on his face.
" What a father and daughter moment!" Claudius said clamping his hand together and Hector glare at him.
" What are you doing here Claudius?" He asked with his voice cold and distant. He don't see any reason why Claudius should come to the princess room unless he has something up his sleeves.
" Chill brother and say your last words to your amiable lovely doctor princess Diana " Claudius said with a grin and king Hector eyes turned dark. The sparkles in his eyes before disappeared and was replaced with forge and darkness.
" Whatever you are up to, you better stop it now before it will be too late" king Hector tells him and Claudius chuckle. He really hate it when he does that.
" I'm going to do what I want tonight and there is nothing you can do about that" Claudius tells him and king Hector turned to look at the beautiful face of his daughter. He don't need anyone to tell him what Claudius wants and he is not going to let him get the satisfaction he wants.
He wonder why he was able to get inside without the soldiers stopping him.
" Leave Claudius" king Hector tells him pointing towards the door and Claudius chuckle more.
" I will leave, when I'm through with what I'm going to do" Claudius said shrugging his shoulders casually.
" I have always detest you right from when we were boys. You always get all the good things to the extent of ascending the throne. As if that was not enough, you married the woman I ever loved with your charms and made her your queen. Do you really think I will let all this slip just like that? In case you don't know, you are a threat to my life and a bone stuck in my throat. It's time to get rid of you once and for all and let Alvanor get a new ruler with a new governing system" Claudius said with hatred and king Hector can feel every bit of his words. He knew his mother death has something to do with Claudius but he don't have enough proof to show that he was actually the one who killed his mother.
" I knew right from the beginning that you never accept the bitter truth"
" I don't accept it because it's bitter. Lies are sweet and I accept sweet things not the bitter truth." Claudius cuts him off before he could even complete his sentence.
" Do you think if you kill me now, you are going to ascend the throne of Alvanor?" Hector asked with his voice distant. He never knew he will have this conversation with Hector someday and not to think of having it in the princess room and on her birthday night.
" I will certainly ascend the throne as long you are no longer a threat to me. I will have to worry about something else instead of worrying about you. As for Helen I will finally have her to myself and I can't wait to make her moan under me. As for the princess, I don't know for now yet" Claudius said dreamingly as he displayed in the room by walking up and down in the room.
" Non of your silly dreams will come through. Wake up Claudius, you are just dreaming" King Hector said as he grit his teeth together in anger. The thought of his queen moaning under Claudius wants to make him go crazy.
" I'm sorry to say this. It will be very sad that you won't be alive to watch them come true" Claudius said with a pityful look on his face.
" I will only ask you one request and then you are gone" Claudius said moving closer to king Hector.
" Where is the pendant?" Claudius asked with a serious expression and Hector flick his lashes at him. There is no way he is going to tell him where the pendant is as he might likely hurt the princess which he don't want to happen in case he dies.
" I don't know where the pendant is so leave now." Hector said and Claudius smile evily. He knew Hector will not tell him where the pendant is kept.
" Then that ends our discussion. You don't know where the pendant is and I'm not going to let you live to see the light of the next day" Claudius said and charge toward Hector who dodge his attack. There was a little sharp knife in his hand which was poinsoned with scorpion venom.
He attacked him again and Hector removed a life from his shirt which he he used to cut Claudius arm through the clothes he was wearing. Claudius eyes turned dark and he quickly throw the knife at Hector which hits him on his chest. The knife pieces into his chest and he held it with his hand as he fell to to the ground.
Blood spills out of blood from his mouth as the poison ran through his vein. He tried to talk but the pain on his chest couldn't let the words out. He looked at the sleeping face of the princess but the words couldn't form in his mouth as he vomit out blood.
Claudius watched him vomit clot of blood with satisfaction in his eyes. He walked towards the bedside and lay the princess close to her father. He rub her hands and dress with.
" Don't do " the king voice trailed off as he tried to stop Claudius from rubbing his blood on the princess clothes.
" Rest in pieces brother" Claudius said and jump out of the room using the curtains.
