Chapter 16: The royal family dinner

" Yes I was thinking about him. Do you think he is alright?" Alice admit she was thinking about Dante and Elena wink at her. She knew all along that Alice have feelings for Dante.
" Yeah he is a soldier so he should be alright" Elena reply and Alice let out a sigh of relief. She just need someone to tell her Dante is alright and Elena just said that.
" But is that why you picked a nylon dress for the princess?" Elena asked raising her brows slightly and Alice quickly come back to her senses. She just realised the dress she picked for the princess is a nylon dress and if the princess finds out she picked a nylon dress for her, she might as well get mad.
" Uh I wasn't thinking straight" Alice said and pick the dress from the bed before rushing to the princess closet where she replace the dress with a pink linen dress.
" Have you forgotten the princess dislike pink colors? " Elena asked when she saw Alice pick pink linen dress for the princess.
Diana dislike pink colors because she sees it as the color for the weaks . Only weak girls wear pink dress acorsing to princess Diana and tough girls wear black dresses.
" Oh I forgot!" Alice exclaim and run her eyes through tons of dresses before she finally picked a black linen dress.
Diana walked out of the bathroom and sat down on front of her dressing mirror.
She don't seem to be happy at all as her face looks so expressionless.
She can't wait to get out of her room and talk to her father. If there's someone she needs to talk to, that's her father. That man never lose his faith for her and she never lose her faith for him too.
The scroll her told her about has not be delivered yet or does it mean they are adding to the scrips they already wrote?
Not less than half an hour, the maids were done and she was ready to go to the throne hall or probably her father's chamber.
She heard a gentle knock on the door and asked Elena to check who it was.
Elena now her head and went to check who is at the door.
Diana don't want to have any encounter with anybody for now except for her father the king.
" It's the queen maid your majesty" Elena said with a bow when she came back from the door.
" Tell her to leave" Diana don't want to have any encounter with her mother for now. Maybe when all of this is over, they can start their mother and daughter relationship again but for now, she just want to get things straight without anyone bothering or pressuring her. She knows how mother's can be.
" She said today is the royal family dinner. So they're all expecting you" Elena added bowing her head slightly and that was when Diana remember that they always have royal family dinner right days to her birthday.
Tsk she is not in the mood to see that witch.
" Tell her to leave" She repeat the same line and Elena bowed her head before leaving for the door.
She lay down on her bed and closed her eyes for a while. She needs to prepare herself before going down there. Sometimes Sarah is difficult to deal with and she also has a lousy mouth. Somehow she wonder how that woman got into the royal family. Don't the royal family check the type of woman their sons marry or they just marry any lousy woman they see on the streets?.
She got up from the bed and walk towards the door while her maids follow her. Her hair was packed into a lose bun and the black dress cover her from head to toe. She doesn't look like someone who is going to turn sixteen in few days time rather she looks like a young woman of about eighteen years of age who carry herself gracefully with air of authority.
Her thin lips were pressed together as she walk down the hallway that was illuminated with royal lamps.
Her steps were quite fast but gentle. She has only two goals in mind. To get Irene location from her father and to shut Sarah up.
When they got to the spiral stairs, she stopped abruptly and breathe in and out.
" You guys can rest for the night. I will tuck myself to bed by myself" She said with a calm voice and the maids don't know if they should be happy or not. When the royal family are having dinner, there are always tons of works to do and the princess ends up going to bed late which means they will have to stay awake till the princess finally goes to bed.
" But your majesty, it's our duty to serve you. It's our duties to tuck you to bed and make sure you are comfortable" Elena speak up and the others nod their head. They really don't want the princess to be given them time to rest as they already see it as their duties to always do things for her. They wants to reward her kindness by serving her whole heatedly.
" No but Elena. I'm old enough to tuck myself to bed. I will be sixteen in few days time and other girls of my age don't need maids to tuck them to bed" Diana said casually. She just wants to be free like those girls outside. She just wants to do things herself and don't want maids to do it for her. If only she knew that those girls outside wished to be like her even if it's only for thirty minutes. They wished to have maids like her too and wants to be tucked to bed all night with bed stories being read to them. But the life we are is not balanced. She wants what they don't want because she don't know how it feels and they wants what she don't want because they know it's the best feeling they can ever experience.
