Match making
Chapter Fourteen
Match Making
Hailey was annoyed when she heard this.
"Grow up?! Why do I need to grow up?! I don't want to grow up at all if it means that I'll have to put up with that annoying Boris! Do you know what he said to me when were alone?! He said that he doesn't even want to live here, but he will do just that just to make me angry! What kind of situation is this?! He is the one who is clearly childish not me!" Hailey was on a tirade now.
Kent raised an eyebrow. It was clear that he did not believe Hailey.
Hailey saw her father's obvious look and she was devastated that he did not seem to believe her at all.
"Dad , do you not believe me at all? Do you seriously think that I'm lying?! I'm not lying! He really said those words to me!" Hailey complained.
Kent sighed. He felt that Hailey was kicking up a fuss for nothing.
"Alright... alright.... he said it. But he probably said it because he was annoyed. I don't think that he means it at all! All of you are friends here. Why do you have to make things so difficult for each other?" Kent decided to talk nicely to his daughter. He didn't want her to be upset when she hasn't come home in a long time..
Hailey was even more frustrated now. She knew that her father won't listen to her.
Her father won't listen and her mother won't listen. Mike is still as cunning as he was in high school and Boris is still a big jerk. She came here because she wanted to relax. Why does she need to deal with this?
When Hailey remembered that she had to spend the entire holiday with Mike and Boris, she shuddered.
........
5 :40 pm. In the Johnson's house. After lunch, Hailey disappeared to her room and refused to come down because she didn't want to see Boris and Mike.
Right now, she was helping her dad set the table for dinner. Her mother was chatting animatedly with Mike.
Hailey thought that it was really amazing how Mike could chat so happily with her mother without breaking a sweat. He really is the people's man. He can always look for a topic.
Kent and Hailey finished setting the table in a few minutes.
"Where's Boris? Everyone is already here. Let's have dinner" Kent asked.
"Oh, I think that he is still in his room. Let me go get him" Mike replied..
Sydney suddenly had an idea. She pulled Mike down to her side and turned to Hailey.
"Hailey, you should be the one to go get him. Mike is chatting with me. You can go get Boris" Sydney's tone did not leave any room for argument.
But Hailey was unwilling to listen.
Hailey was annoyed. She stomped her foot on the ground angrily.
"I'm not going to go! I don't want to go call him! If he doesn't come down by himself then he should forget about eating dinner!" Hailey refused.
Hailey was hoping mad. Why should she call Boris?! She wants him to get lost more than anything else!
"What's actually wrong with you Hailey? They are your high school friends! You haven't seen them in seven years! How can you have such an attitude towards them? This is our house! You need to bea good host! Is this how your mother and I taught you? Or did you pick up bad habits when you went to the city to work?" Kent asked. He was tired of putting up with Hailey. He thought that she was creating a scene for nothing.
Hailey felt bad when her dad said this. She didn't want her father to think that she had picked up some bad habits. She knew that her parents taught her better than what she was doing right now.
It was just that Hailey could not stand Boris. He is an annoying scumbag who has always picked on her since she was young!
"Alright, alright. Stop talking dad. I just have to call him right? I'll go call him for dinner. I know that you and mom raised me better than this. I'm sorry, I won't do this again" Hailey decided to put up with it for the sake of her Father..
Hailey didn't want to ruin the rare time that she had to spend with her parents because of insignificant people. She thought that she will just ignore Boris and Mike. She won't let the both of them get to her.
Hailey walked away from the living room
Mike turned to Sydney.
"Is it okay for you to send Hailey to go call Boris?! Aren't you scared that the both of them are going to get into a fight?" Mike asked. He was really worried that the both of them will break into a fight.
Judging from what he knew of Boris, he will definitely try to pick on Hailey and Hailey will definitely try to fight back. The both of them are going to get into an huge argument then. So, telling Hailey to go call Boris was really a bad idea.
"Of course I know what I'm doing. I asked her to go on purpose. I don't really know what happened that the both of them are on each other's throat like this but I really want to solve it. All of you are good friends. Why are the both of them arguing so much? I'm sure that once they have more interactions with each other, they'll be able to talk about thier differences and get over it" Sydney said. There was a sly smile on her face.
She had talked with Hailey earlier today and she found out that her daughter doesn't even have a boyfriend yet. She really thought that Hailey and Boris will make a great couple. She was secretly trying to match make them.
Mike really didn't think that this was going to work. The both of them have been on each other's throat for all thier lives and they still didn't make up. What happened was much more bigger than it seemed. And only one person actually knows the truth. Boris.
