Misunderstanding

Chapter 20



In fact, even though Boris and Mike were really popular, they are not from Sunset town. No one was expecting them to come back after they left.



The both of them never said where they were from and no one ever asked.



Eva really wanted to disappear from this place but she did not have a choice. She will have to stick this out.



Mike knew that he should step out to diffuse this tension so he did just that .

"Dinner has already been served. We should go eat before it gets cold" Mike said.

"Yes yes let's go eat. We've already wasted a lot of time" Sydney agreed with Mike.



"Since you are already here Eva have dinner with us before you go back home." Kent chipped in.

Kent didn't really want Eva to stay. He was just being polite because she is his niece.



Eva knew that Kent didn't really want her to stay and that he was just being polite but she still chose to stay.

She wanted to get close to Hailey and talk more to her. She was sure that she will able to sweet talk Hailey into bringing her along when she's going back to the City after the holidays.



"Of course uncle Kent. Since you've asked me to stay for dinner. I'll say. I haven't even had dinner tonight at all" Eva shamelessly agreed.



Sydney and Kent were appalled at how shameless EVa could get.

They were all having dinner.

Eve turned to Boris. She could see the way he was looking at Hailey. He didn't even give her the time of day. She clenched her fists. She didn't like this feeling. She hated it. She hates it a lot!



She thought that she already did all that she could to keep the both of them away from each other seven years ago. She thought that since she can't have him, there's no reason for someone else to have him.



But what is Boris doing here now?



"Hailey...I didn't know that you and Hailey were so close. I thought that the both of you hated each other's guts. Who doesn't know better will think that you are a pair of lover!" Eva couldn't help but let her jealousy get the best of her.



Everyone's expression darkened. They all looked at Eva for an explanation. Eva realized that she had said something wrong and she immediately looked away.



"What the both of us do have nothing to do with you Eva" Hailey said. She was already pissed and she wasn't in the mood to entertain Eva. .

Eva knew that she should not have said the words that she said next. She knew that she should have held herself back. But she could not. She ended up saying it.



"I don't think that I said anything wrong. After all, everyone knows that the both of you don't get along at all. I just wanted to know what changed the dynamics of your relationship. We all know that Boris hates you anyway!" Eva said. And no oke will ever find out that she is the reason for that hate!



Even Boris was starting to get annoyed. This had nothing to do with Eva anyway.



"What did you ever do to make someone like Boris hate you so much?" Eva asked sarcastically.



Hailey has always been pampered by her parents. She usually did whatever she wanted. Eva really wanted Hailey to rein in some of her arrogance.



If Boris wasn't here, Eva would have had better control over his emotions. But she just could not help it.



"Eva, you know very well why I hate Hailey" Boris suddenly said.



All eyes turned to Eva. Eva's heart skipped a beat. She wasn't expecting Boris to bring this up. Never in her wildest life had she ever imagined that this will happen!



"What....I don't know what you mean Boris!" Eva immediately denied it. She can't give herself away now! Not when she has hidden it for seven years!



Boris looked at Eva's pale face. He finally realized that something was wrong.



"But you were the one who told me that Hailey was the one who told you about my mother! That she married a man way older than her because of money! You said that she was going to tell everyone about it but you were able to stop her!" Boris said.

"What?! I never said anything like that! I don't even know anything about your mother!"

Hailey looked from Boris to Eva, trying to figure out what was going on. She was really confused. When did she come in here!



Mike had a grim look on his face because he already figured out what was going on.



Boris mother....the woman wasn't anything to write home about. She lived an irresponsible life and got married to an old man...but this had nothing to do with Boris.



And how did Eva know?!



From Hailey's reaction, it was obvious that Eva has been spinning a lie for so long!



Kate and Sydney had confused look on thier faces.



"What is going on?" Sydney asked.



Mike got up walked over to Eva. "How did you know about that Eva? Don't even think about lying to me. It's clear that Hailey has nothing to do with this! Tell us the truth!" Mike yelled.



Eva finally could not take it anymore. She broke down and started to cry.



"It's true! I made up a lie! But Boris was the one who was stupid enough to believe me! I heard the both of you talking about his mother and I spinned a lie with it! Who told him to like Hailey when I'm the one who likes him? All of you deserve it!" Eva yelled manically.



Hailey smiled. "So you're telling me that you lied to Boris and made me hate me all these years just because you were jealous of me?" Hailey asked.



She suddenly got up and ran out of the dining room.



"Hailey!" Sydney got up and ran after her daughter.



Hailey did not stop. She flung the door open, but there was someone else standing outside who was just preparing to knock.



"Mr. Clark, why are you here?"
