A bit of history

Aurelia

As my training started, I quickly found i was a quick learner. Elnora was a great teacher and easy to learn from. I could now read and write. I loved to read, history being my favorite. I was inspired from the past. Long before there was peace between all races we were divided. Each had their own rulers and lands. There was always fighting going on between them.

It went on for years before the Elf people became tired of the damage to the lands. They were the first to bring peace with the humans. Humans were full of pride and it was long before tensions were forgiven. Eventually the prince of the humans feel in love with the elvish princess and peace lasted.

Their children brought peace through the dragons. An elf princess stuck a bargain to fight with on of the dragon princesses and they were the deadliest duo of all our history. I was very interested in this relationship and spent my free time reading stories of their adventures and battles.

I also learned about the most recent conflicts in history, how the warlocks had cursed my family and how my ancestors had destroyed their lands with fire. My family had spent years uniting the races ,yet the Warlock rulers wanted more and refused to settle for less than total control. Without any Royal dragons left, the Warlocks would be free to take over total control.

At the time the curse hit, luckily my Grandmother was pregnant with my father giving us one more generation to destroy this curse. My grandfather became so enraged by this, he was able to rain a fire so hot on their lands. As far as anyone knows the lands still smoke and nothing grows. No one ever found out how my mother was able to become pregnant with me. My least favourite topic to study.

I was also getting stronger as the weeks went by. Kairios had started training me with bow and arrow. It took me awhile to become strong enough to pull back the string. My arms would shake making my aim faulter. As time went I got better and we started with swords.

I was fast on my feet and able to dance and dodge around his attacks. I stared out with a short sword and shield. I hated the weight of the shield so I quickly got rid of that and tried with a bit of a longer sword. As time went on I became more of a challenge for Kairios. We would both end our lessons covered in sweat and fighting to catch our breath.

Three months have passed since I arrived at Elenor's house and I was getting closer to be able to leave on my journey. This morning Kairios gifted me with my own blade. My new Longsword was forty-five inches long, the blade itself was thirty-five inches of slick steel. The pommel was made of a red ruby cut and shaped to look like a rose. The handle was the softest leather id ever felt and fit perfectly into my hand. The sword was incredibly light, I mainly would use two hands but I had little difficulty using one hand at times.

I spent the better part of the day practicing in the garden filled with such joy as I danced around. Mistress Elnora and Kairios were in the study planning the rest of the journey to find my mother and to take back my throne to unite the two kingdoms and and the ceaseless conflict.

My Aunt, her son and husband would suffer my wrath. I plan to show them no mercy for what they have done. I'm currently undecided if I should kill them or to live a life in a cage, as they condemned me to. The hours seem to pass as minutes before I saw Kairios standing in the doorway watching me.

"It's time to eat, we can leave tomorrow everything we will need is gathered and ready."

"Good I'm grateful for the time here but I'm ready to get this all started."

Kairios extended his arm for me to take. I slid my sword back into its red tone sheath then took his harm. As we walked into the dining room I was lost in thought yet again. I can't help but think that Kairios and I haven't shared more than a few chaste kisses since coming here. I desired more from him like that first night together but I was too shy to push forward, so I buried myself in my lessons and training.

As we ate Mistress Elnora shared all the plans for the trip in the supplies she had gathered for us. Kairios and I would ride out on horseback. Mistress had gifted me with a young mare that I named Scorch for her red brown coat she was fast and unafraid of my dragon form. The first time I shifted in front of her she reared up, then sniffed the air and then walked over to me she bumping her head on mine before chewing on the grass around us.

Kairios also received a gift from the Mistress, she has spared no expense in his new armour sword and bow. The armour was made from green and gold and dragon scales and it was incredibly light. He looked menacing with his bow and arrows over on his back and a sword and Dagger hanging at his hip.

We would leave it dawn, moving town to town on our way to the Warlock lands. Mistress Elnora had suspected that my Mother found safety somewhere in their lands, possibly hidden somewhere in the forest or mountains that separated the two Kingdoms. We had no plan on how to find her, we just hoped on blind luck that she would find us or we would get word of her as we travelled, trying to gain supporters.

For me finding her with the least of my worries. I didn't tell them that I had a lot of anger and blamed her for a lot of the pain I suffered. I didn't know how I was to get past that, and I wasn't ready to find out.

The history between the two Kingdoms had Kairios worried about our journey. I was excited to see the lands, to travel the road, see the towns and meet new people. I also wanted to see these Warlocks. I have missed a lot and owed it to my roll and the people I would rule to experience as much as possible.

The rest of the night passed quickly as the last preparations were made. We would leave at sunrise and head to the next town over. I wanted to see the Capitol but it was best for our plan to stay to the small towns. Try to get as many allies as we travel. Laying in bed thinking about all of this, I fell asleep and slipped into a nightmare.

What is this place? It's like the throne room and the hallway with the many locked doors. This had to be another part of the castle. I'm standing in a courtyard with a castle on one side and what looks like apartments on the other. I am alone, there isnt a single sound other then my breathing.

As I walked closer to the apartments I can hear two women arguing. Wondering what apartment it's coming from, I start to turn door handles. As I keep trying I keep finding them locked and the sounds are getting fainter and fainter.

Starting to panic I run to the next handle and try it, as it turns the door unlatches. Before I can take a step inside, another door at the castle behind me explodes open. Pouring out of the opening is the darkness. I looks like mist and my legs seem locked in place as it creeps across the yard closer to me.

"You may be free of your cage, but you'll never be free of me."
