Beyond repair
Aurelia
It sounded like the ground was going to burst open beneath us. We walked next to the horses and tried to keep each foot fall as quiet as the forest animals around us. Our movements were slow and sure, making positive that there were no scouts to report our location to the horde. The whole time I had to wonder what could make such a noise. After the demons made of water I could only imagine what horrors awaited us over then next group of bushes.
“Stay here.” I said to Scorch. “Just over that ridge, get low.”
I got down to the ground and crawled into the bunch of bushes. Random branches pulled at my hair and clothing but I didn’t care. I had to see, to know. I could hear the others behind and next to me, pushing their way through. I pushed a branch out of my way, freeing a hidden one to lash out and slice along my cheek. I cursed as blood started to trickle down my cheek. I raised my hand again to pull some leaves down, and couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
It was another demon army as I had suspected. This one was made of rock, mud and bark. Creatures made of solid rock rolled across the ground, making the sound of falling rocks that drew us near. Next came great globs of mud with gaping mouths a black eyes that slid along leaving a slimy path. Through those paths of mud traveled tall, thin creatures made of bark. They looked like the unnatural trees I saw in a painting of a haunted forest. My skin stated to crawl as I watched them.
They were heading directly to where our army was preparing to depart. They would be slaughtered!
“We have to go back.” I whispered to them and started to make my way back to the horses.
“We can’t go back.” Galorian said as he tried to wipe the blood stream from my cheek.
“They will all die!” I said to loudly and slapped his hand away.
“Yes they will. And with any luck, it will be believed that the dragon queen is dead as well.” He said with hurt in his eyes.
“The pirate is right. Most of them will die. And it will be known through the lands. Word will spread quickly to Zephyrus. It will give us an advantage.” Kairios said as he stood closer to me than he had in days.
“Saira, you have to agree with me. We must return!” I begged her, knowing that when I looked in her silver eyes, she did not agree.
“This is the only way now. If we go back, we die with them.” She said with a heavy voice.
“I have to, I promised them.” I said. I knew that I had lost this argument. Another promise that I would not be able to keep.
“We have to go. If we linger here, we will be noticed.” Galorian jumped on his dark brown horse whom had no name. Saira followed onto Star and after a long look of understanding, Kairios climbed onto Blackfire.
If I mounted, it meant I truly gave up on my men. Scorch came to me and I knew I had but one choice. I hoped that I would be forgiven. I grabbed the saddle and swung myself up. Galorian led the way for now. I followed in the back, Scorch making her own way. My attention soon followed the sounds in the distance. A great crack that shook the ground under our feet sounded. Then was followed by the sounds of horns blasting and people dyeing. Fire started to burn in my belly at the thought of their suffering. What would I have been able to do?
We rode on for hours. The sounds of the battle did not last long. We made it into an open field and I put my heels into Scorch’s side and ran. We ran from the guilt, the anger and the sadness. Tears fell from my eyes and left streams in our wake. The wind rushed through my ears so loudly that if the others called to me, I would not know it. The field ran along side a thin strip of water, we slowed before stopping to have a taste of the fresh water.
I washed the tears and blood from my face before the others reached us. I crossed the stream after grabbing Scorch by the reins and said, “we should cross here, if we were followed this will disrupt our trail.” They all crossed over as well, no one else said a word.
We rode on for a while longer in search of a good place to make a camp for the night. It didn’t take long to find a spot that would be easy to guard. While we set up our small camp, I focused on how I would kill Zephyrus. I tried and failed to banish the thought that if I had taken his offer that the others would still be alive. How he would say that their blood is on my hands.
I made myself a bed next to Scorch, signaling that I wanted the others to leave me alone. And they did. For the rest of the night I sat in silence while I hardened my heart. I had accepted my darkness, now it was time to let that side take control. I could no longer afford to be who I thought I was. What ever stood in my way would taste the heat of my fury. They would all burn.
Morning came and I was still on my own next to Scorch. Galorian was still asleep while Kairios was getting a fire started and Saira was preparing some food. I tested my mood and found I was still in the throws of my darkness. Good, I thought to myself. I walked over to Saira and started to help her prepare a few bowls of cooked oats and a fried egg. Kairos continued along with feeding the horses and gathering some buckets of water for them.
“I am sorry.” I told her while we worked. “I don’t know what else to say.”
“Its okay. It was hard for me to. If I had been there, the wounded need not suffer. The truth, as hard as it is to take, we need to be dead right now. The eyes of the enemy wont be looking for us. We may actually make it to the wall of my city now.”
“I know you are right. I just want this to be over. I grow tired of watching death.”
I went over to wake Galorian and give him his bowl. The sooner we were on our way the better. We still had long miles to cover before we even made it to the top of the mountains. “Wake up.” I said I as I shook his shoulder. “Your food is ready.”
He moved and mumbled but didn’t open his eyes. So I left the bowl next to him and went to help Kairios water the horses. He handed me an empty bucket and nodded his head. “There is some water back this way a bit.”
We walked in silence for a while. I didn’t know what to say. We hadn’t had much alone time since he sent me away. And now that he was speaking to me again, I didn’t want to say the wrong thing. The water he mentioned was little more than a pond. I crouched down and let the bucket fill.
“Are you happy? With the pirate?” Kairios asked out of no where.
“In a way yes. He brings out a side of me that I have been trying to stamp out. But every moment of the day I miss you.”
“I was foolish when I cast you aside. My brother, he always made choices that were wrong. He tried to kill you and Saira. It is only natural to defend yourselves. I just wish he had stayed home.” When he was finished speaking he grabbed my hand, pulled the bucket from it and threw it to the ground.
“What are you…” I started to say but was interrupted by his lips crashing into mine.
All questions and thought melted away as he kissed me. My hand found the familiar path up his arms and around his shoulders. I pulled myself into him and his hands crushed into me. They ran all over my back, removing any clothing that was in his way. He wasted no time in having me standing naked before him.
Some of his clothing had come off as well, only his pants remained. A single finger worked its way around my right nipple, then the left before tracing a path towards the center of my shaking legs.
“I’ve missed this heat, the tightness.” A finger slipped inside. “The way you tighten around me when I push deeper and deeper.”
A second finger joined the other and spread me wider. His mouth came to clamp down on the hardened pink bud of my nipple. I had to brace my hands on his shoulders, my legs were starting to become weak in the knees.
“Are you going to cum for me? Beg me for it.” He said with my flesh still in his teeth.
“Make me scream your name.” I said as I looked into his green eyes.
A smirk in the corner of his mouth and he dipped lower, sliding his tongue over the bundle of nerves exposed to him. He nipped and licked and pumped his fingers until I shuddered and cried his name to the wood.
Before I could stop and catch my breath he pulled me from where I stood and laid me on the ground. His pants were down around his knees and his thick cock stood tall waiting for me to open my mouth. I took him in my hand and opened my mouth around him. I flicked the tip with my tongue and massaged his shaft with my palm.
Before I could suck the pleasure from him he withdrew and grabbed my hips to turn me over. I spread my legs wide apart and arched my back in a way that fully opened me up to him. A ruff sound escaped him as he slapped my ass. The second he was lined up he thrust in.
And we both sighed at the feel of it. I moved my hips and he matched my pace. It had been to long since I felt full by him. He started to quicken his pace and I let him take control. His thrusts became deep and hard.
When he reached his pleasure he grabbed me by the shoulder and hauled me up so my back was pressed against his chest. I could feel each pump of his seed into my core and his hand worked hard at my breast. I turned my face and found his lips ready and waiting.
Whole. That’s what I felt. The personal wrongs in my life were on the way to healing. We could do this. He had forgiven me, he wanted me.
“Well now.” Galorian’s voice called from the cover of a group of bushes. He walked out and said, “That was an exciting show.”
