I was still bothered by my dream last night. Who were the arguing women? They had to be behind that locked door. Why were these dreams happening? They only started when I was planning my escape. Probably another curse to be broken and another reason to get to Amar Eglir. With Scorch and Blackfire loaded up and ready to go we gave our goodbyes.

Kairios' family came giving us both well wishes on our journey. His mother and sister kissed our cheeks and his father crushed us in a hug. These exchanges of love had my eyes stinging with tears at the thought that I will never have this in my family, years and years of developed love and memories. I didnt want them to see me cry so I spat out a quick goodbye and mounted Scorch. Taking off up the road my tears began to fall fast.

I wasn't paying attention to where we were going until I noticed we came up to the river spot I met Kairios at. I dismounted and walked over to the water's edge, bent over and let the water run through my fingers. After a few moments I used the river water to wash the tears off my face.

Kairios arrived as i finished, he walked over to me wrapping his arms around me. It had been weeks since he held me like this and I didn't realize how much I needed the embrace. His body was warm to me, which was strange because I was warmer then anyone else I touched. They were cold to me.

We stayed like that as I work up my courage and move my hands up to his chest. His muscles under his shirt were firm and marvelous. I then went to hold his face Between my hands. His face was soft and smooth, i had never seen any hair on his chin. When I brought my lips to his I poured in all the love I feel for him.

His kiss was as full of love and passion as mine was. My body was on fire as his arms pressed me closer to him. We stood there for longer then we should as we enjoyed this moment alone. He reluctantly broke the kiss and said,

"We should get going or we won't make it to the next town by tomorrow night." he said with a shaky voice.

Admittedly I wanted to stay here and never leave his embrace, it have been too long and I realized how much I missed and needed his arms around me. The journey would be long and hard and all the promises of finding my mother and getting my revenge made up who are the fear I felt.

"Let's get going."

The ride to the next town on by easy and the sights were so beautiful. We passed little farm houses with children running around in the field filled with apple trees and vegetable gardens. As we contined up the dirt road, the houses became further apart. The fields around the houses changed as well. I didnt know the names of the fields, so planned to find out.

We eventually passed a group of humans walking towards the town we just left. We stopped to ask what had happened to them. They had been attacked on the road from the capitol and all their belongings had been taken away. They told us they had nothing and nowhere to go.

"My Father is the mayor, he will be able to help your family."

After they thanked us and we continued on our way Kairios told me more about the capital. More and more young couples were leaving the capitol to try and make a life in the smaller towns. Taxes had become unmanageable. And for those who couldn't pay, the palace guards would come to "collect" what ever repayment they had. Those who had nothing to give would be publicly whipped for three days as punishment.

By the time we reached the town it had been dark for a few hours. The shops were closed and only the taverns were open. Hoping there was still rooms available, Kairios went in while I watch the horses. When he returned he told me that there was only one room left and that we would have to share.

"Let's put the horses in the barn and get something to eat, we should leave as early as possible in the morning."

When we walked into the barn if could see two other horses in the back, but there were no other people. The barn itself was old and looked like it would collapse with a strong gust of wind. seconded Scorch into the barn stall and started to remove our travel supplies and my riding saddle. I quickly brushed her down and give her a carrot before latching the gate, following Kairios to the tavern.

This was my first time in such a place and it was so dirty. There were still plates with food on them covering most of the tables. Someone had fallen asleep at their table and was snoring loudly to their plate of food. We sat down at the only clean empty table and it was furthest from the fireplace. An angry looking woman walked over and slammed a jug on the table asking what we want to eat. Kairios ordered a roast chicken with some bread and cheese for the both of us.

We drank and ate in silence. Thankfully the food was delicious, the cheese was hard and salty and the bread was fresh and soft, the chicken had a honey ginger taste. The meal made up for the disgusting room. Aside from the one cup Kairios had, I finished the rest of the jug myself. I have never had a drink like this before and my stomach was burning my fingers and toes have a slight tingle. All in all I felt greate while Kairios is staring at me with a slight smirk on his face.

"We should go to bed, can you walk?"

"Of course I can walk by myself, what a silly question." As I said this and tried to stand up, I promptly fell on my ass and laughed.

"Maybe I need a little bit of help."

Kairios was laughing as he helped me off the floor I stumbled a few steps before he gave up and picked me up and carried me upstairs to our room he laid me on the bed and turn to the window he stared off into the night and I fell asleep watching him

When I woke the next morning he was still sleeping on the end of the bed I move to wake him but was stopped by a pounding in my head and my stomach lurching. Realizing I wasn't going to be getting up yet I decided to stay where I was and watch the sunrise across his body he was so beautiful to me I couldn't believe that this was my life now how far have I comes from cowering in a cave beating and afraid to finding the will to escape and fighting karaoke it was hard to believe it was real now I felt like I had a family and a life to fulfill

As time passes I started to feel better and Kairios woke up.

"How are you feeling?" With a grin on his face.

"I am never drinking that filth again."

Kairios laugh was instant and loud. I had to agree this was very funny. Ready to be out of this room and in the fresh air I sat up. This really was not something I wanted to repeat.

"We should get moving. Its going to be a long day on the road. We need to keep a good pace."

After we got back on the trail it wasn't long before I started to feel much better. The fresh air was wonderful. The town in the morning light had been quiet. Most of the shops remained closed and the open ones looked very empty. I wondered what was wrong with this town.

It wasn't long before we came across a few men huddled around the fire. They looked up if we passed saying nothing in return to our greetings. They kept their eyes on us until we rounded the bend where we were covered by some trees. I had a bad feeling about the men back there.

"Kairios, i want to go back, those men gave me a bad feeling and I want to see why."

Okay. Let's take the horses up into the trees then we can go around and observe them from behind. But we can't stay long"

We rode up the hill side and left Scorch and Blackfire in a small open space. We left them untied, trusting they wouldn't go anywhere. Kairios and both grabbed our weapons and quietly made our way back to the road where we saw them.

I knew we were getting closer as i smelled blood. I didnt remember seing any of them injured. The smell was strong, there was something about the smell of that blood. I wondered why I could smell it.

"We should move soon, i told you we were to close to the village. The girl will wake soon and someone might hear her."

"Don't be so bothersome with your fears. Soon we will be on our way. Your weakness annoys me."

"Shut up the both of you. Start packing up, i don't want to be late to meet our buyer."

They agave a girl with them? Maybe that's where the smell of blood came from, and they planned to sell her? These men were animals, and i was going to stop them. I drew an arrow, nocked it, took aim and let loose. The Arrow whistled through the air and landed with a pleasing squish into one of the men's eyes. By the time he fell to the ground the others were up and drawing their swords.

I found a had a quick flash of delight as I dropped my bow to draw my sword. The remaining men had no idea where I was. I jumped out of the bushes and they charged me. I could tell they were accustomed to fighting as a team, their swords ringing against mine blocking their strikes.

I can see in their eyes that they registered me as a real opponent and not some girl. I never fought with more than two opponents before. I was starting to lose ground when one of the blades ran across my leg, the pain was real but I was used to this and it took opportunityl I swung my sword as hard as I could and connected with one of their necks, my blade was stuck in his flesh as I gave it a yank pulling it free.

Out of the corner of my eyes while another sword swing my way the rolls out of the way but dropped my sword in the process I was not without a weapon.

"Who are you?" He asked me

I didn't know what to do next he could kill me now that I had no way to fight back. I had no choice I had to shift and tear him apart. my claws started to grow out as soon as I realized this. Surprise crossed his features as I shifted, he was now facing my dragon form.

I bared my teeth as I growel ripped up my chest. His face went pale and I jumped. I could feel his sword brush my scales as my teeth tore into him. I ripped his arm off and tossed it to the side, at the same time I flipped my tail around and stabbed him with my sharp spikes.

His wide shocked eyes stared at me in surprise. I met his gaze and watched as he slipped into death. I had won, my first fight was behind me now. I had killed them and now wondered where was the girl and where did Kairios go?
