Chapter 30
The rest of the day was filled with awkwardness between Lumae and Jackson, but none of them dared to bring it up and just focused on their work. Lumae really had to go to the restroom though and couldn't hold any longer. "Jackson, I'll be right back. I'm just going to the restroom."
Jackson was clearly bothered by something. "Uhuh."
She didn't want to pry though, so she just went out of 'the forest', making sure to lock it with her own key once she was out. She then headed to the bathroom and into the only open stall. The middle stall.
As she was busy doing her business, the ladies in the stalls left and right of her finished up and came out at the same time. "I bet you, the only reason she's here, is because she asked him for a job."
"Heh, yeah or she just managed to sleep her way into it. Either way, she clearly doesn't deserve it."
Lumae was now finished with her business and made sure to step out of her stall with her head held high. Walked to the sink in the middle of them to wash her hands and threw them a great comeback. "Yeah and I'm pretty sure that you guys know none of my business, so what gives you the right to judge?"
Those women shut their traps as fast as lightning. The one Lumae looked up at then walked over to the other, grabbed her arm and sprinted out of the restroom. Lumae didn't know why they seemed so afraid until she looked up at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were glowing a vibrant blue again. This could only mean one thing.... She was in heat. She was so preoccupied with her new duties as luna, the mafia group, the battle and everything, that she completely forgot to keep track of when her next heat was.
She sprinted out of the restroom and straight into Dominic's office, but on her way there, in the elevator, she could already smell his scent and hear his heartbeat. She shook her head and tried to get through it.
When the elevator finally reached his level, she rushed to his office. Scarlett tried to stop Lumae, "Hey, Lumae you can't just...", but Lumae didn't care.
She barged into Dominic's office. A man in a formal suit and brown hair stood in front of him. When Lumae looked over to Lumae and saw her eyes, he immediately rushed towards her, covered her eyes and told the person to leave.
The person quickly rushed out of Dominic's office and closed the door behind him. Dominic then released Lumae, "Lumae, what's going on?"
She looked at him. His scent was overbearing, his eyes were gorgeous pools of blue and green, and she could feel his pulse through his hands, but she shook off the feeling and took a step backwards. "I-I'm in heat, Dominic. I completely forgot to keep track of it with everything that's been happening. I'm so sorry. I don't think I can be here right now."
"Woah, woah, Lumae, you might be in heat, but why are your eyes glowing?" She looked at him.
"Because that's how strong the White Moon's attractions are in heat. I have to leave now."
Lumae turned, and was about to head to the door, but Dominic stopped her and grabbed her arm. "Lumae, wait. I can..."
A strong sensation rushed over Lumae's body from that one touch, and she could no longer hold back. She pulled Dominic closer by his blazer and passionately started to kiss him. At first, he wanted to retreat, but Lumae didn't let him, she just kept going, making it hard for him to basically breathe.
She started to push Dominic towards his desk, making him sit down on it unwillingly. Dominic now knew that he could not win this. Lumae was clearly much stronger than him and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't escape her. So he just went along with her.
Lumae's hands then started wandering to the buttons of Dominic's shirt, but he came back to his senses. He realised they were still at work. So he started kissing her down her cheek and towards her neck in order to escape her passionate lips as his hand started to trail up her body towards her neck, where he finally got a gap to push Lumae away, still lightly holding on to her neck.
"Lumae, I need you to calm down, alright? We're still at work, so try your best to work through this. Focus on your breathing. Close your eyes and imagine yourself somewhere else entirely."
He now felt her pulse through her neck slow down partially, but it was still irregularly high. Dominic then let go of Lumae's neck and went to the other side of the desk to make a call. He picked up his cellphone on the desk and immediately dialled someone. "Hello? Jurian? Yes, uhm, could you please send lady Francesca to Mortiferum?" There was a slight pause for a second, "Yes, my manor in Whole Street." There was yet another silence, "Alright, thank you, Jurian."
Dominic then ended the call, took off his blazer and threw it over Lumae's shoulders. "Alright, come on. We're going back to the manor. My blazer should ease some of your urges temporarily. Just don't look anyone straight in the eyes."
Lumae nodded slightly as they headed out of Dominic's office. They then stopped just outside the door, right next to Scarlett's office, "Scarlett, I'm taking Lumae home. She doesn't seem to be feeling well, it must be exhaustion or something. I'll be back in a short while."
He then led Lumae to the elevator and pushed the button to the first floor. Halfway there, the elevator stopped and Jackson walked in. He was immediately surprised to see Lumae, but she seemed off. He then looked up at Dominic. "Lumae's not feeling well today. I'm taking her home, she might be back tomorrow." Jackson nodded, turned around and pressed the button for the second floor.
He then glanced back at Lumae and noticed that she looked a bit pale, her shirt was more wrinkled than it was this morning, and she had redness around her neck. He couldn't see it that clearly since she kept staring at the ground, but he saw it. He then suspiciously glanced at Dominic. "What did you do to her?"
Dominic looked at him, "Excuse me?"
Jackson's suspicion turned to rage, "You heard me. WHAT did you do to her?!"
Dominic furiously glared at Jackson, "I don't know where this is coming from, Mr. Mckay, but it is not appropriate to behave in this manner."
Jackson was now fuming, "You know, what's inappropriate behaviour? Lumae's neck being beet red from who knows what ever the f#ck you did to her!"
Lumae then grabbed Jackson's arm, still not looking up at him. "Jackson, just leave it, please. He didn't do anything, I really just don't feel well."
"B-But he clearly-" the doors to the second floor opened.
"I think you should leave, Jackson." He looked at Lumae worriedly, then gave a sharp threatening glare at Dominic as he turned to leave the elevator. When he just stepped foot outside the elevator he mumbled something almost unbearable.
"You will not get away with this." Then he walked off as the elevator doors closed again. Dominic then took Lumae back to his manor, not caring about anything but Lumae's well-being.
