Chapter 38
Lumae has been sitting for hours now. Her hands started to hurt from the cuffs, and she started getting frustrated by the constant silence of the headset. She needed to find a way out of the room, and quickly. She started wiggling to see if anything holding her down might be loose, but to no avail, so she started nudging and sliding the headset against her shoulder and managed to slide one side of the headset off her ear.
Suddenly, all Lumae could hear was fighting, yelling and swords clinging. She then knew that Dominic had come for her, and her mind was now more at ease. Moments later, Dominic barged into the room hastily with a group of people fighting behind him. He then quickly rushed to Lumae, and started breaking the cuffs with one of his specially made gadgets.
Once Lumae's hands were free, she immediately embraced Dominic, not caring about all the other things keeping her in the chair. She only cared about being able to see him and hear his voice, though the smell blockers still prevented her from smelling him, she still liked the feel of his touch. Dominic then pulled away after a short while.
"We need to get you out of here ASAP."
Lumae nodded and properly took off the headset, then helped Dominic to get the rope off of her. When she was finally free, a group of people burst into the room. "Lumae, behind me!"
Lumae didn't want to just stand and watch, she wanted to help. "No, you're not doing this alone."
Dominic glanced back at Lumae for a second in thought, then nodded at her, as one of the people charged at them. Lumae immediately charged back at the person, grabbed one of their arms and twisted it behind him. She then kicked the person off towards Dominic so he could deal with him as she worked through the rest of the group.
A few minutes later, Lumae and Dominic walked out of the room, leaving a heap of unconscious people behind them. As they walked out, Lumae noticed some people in formal attire and realised that they must have been from party. Lumae looked over to Dominic, shocked.
When he realised what Lumae was shocked about, he smiled at her and gave her a slight nod. She really wanted to hug Dominic again, but remembered that there was still a fight going on.
One of the enemy's people was busy attacking one of Dominic's friend's acquaintances. She was almost struck down, but Lumae caught the person's hand before he could even touch the acquaintance. Lumae then flung the person through the air with minimal strength, then helped the acquaintance up, only to fight off more people.
The same was busy happening on the other side. Both Dominic and Lumae somehow managed to save everyone on their side at least once and even managed to beat the group. When everything was over, Dominic gestured to Jurian.
"Take one of them and find information on them." Jurian nodded, immediately grabbed a person and dragged them out of the building.
Dominic then turned to the group of people who helped him. "Thank you everyone for helping get back my mate. I will forever be grateful to you, but I do hope that in this process you've also noticed that Lumae chose to fight with us, she didn't just stand on the sidelines and watch how everything went down, she fought, and she did it well. I hope everyone can treat her a little better in the future, but for now, I'd like to take my mate back home."
Dominic extended his hand towards Lumae, and she accepted it as Dominic led her past the crowd of people, staring at Lumae speechless. Dominic and Lumae had now clearly made a big impact on everyone. As soon as they got out of the building, hoards of cars surrounded it, but Lumae immediately recognised Dominic's.
They then got into the car and drove off. Lumae then noticed that the sun was already starting to rise. She was taken aback by the beauty of the sunrise after such a long, tiresome night. As she watched the sunset, she then slowly drifted to sleep. When Dominic noticed that she dozed off, he smiled and stroked a strand of hair out of her face, admiring her beauty.
When they eventually made it to the manor, Dominic once again gently picked Lumae up out of the car and carried her up to the room, placing her down on the bed gently and covering her with the blankets. He then turned to go close the curtains, but Lumae grabbed his hand.
She then mumbled softly. "Please stay. I don't want to be alone." Dominic smiled and gently slid her hand off his.
"Of course. You won't ever be alone from now on." Lumae smiled and fell back into a deep slumber.
When he was sure that she was fast asleep, he went to close the curtains and was about to go back downstairs to rest on the sofa, but stopped in his tracks and thought for a second. He then turned back around and got into the bed with Lumae, wrapping his arm around her waist to make certain that she stayed with him.
When they both finally woke up, it was already nighttime. "Well, hello there my gorgeous moonlight."
Lumae smiled. "Hey."
Dominic then leaned in for a small kiss. "I'm going to make us something to eat."
Lumae nodded, "Sounds good."
Dominic then got out of the bed and went straight downstairs to the kitchen to prepare some food. Whilst Lumae was waiting, she decided to go take a nice, steaming shower to relieve her stress a little.
Dominic had just finished preparing the food and came back up to give it to Lumae, but she wasn't in the room. He then placed the food on the bedside table. He then checked the balcony to see if she might be catching some fresh air there, but she wasn't. He was then just about to go back downstairs to check if he might have missed her, when Lumae came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel. They both immediately collided and fell to the ground.
"Well, hello there." Dominic cockily smiled.
Lumae then rolled her eyes and tried to stand up, but her leg got caught on the towel, and she once again fell onto Dominic. Her towel was holding on for dear life though, and it somehow did a great job at that.
Suddenly, both Dominic and Lumae were overcome with an overbearing sensation, they could smell each other ten times better, they could feel each other's heart beats through the clothes and the towel. They could see each other more clearly. Dominic then noticed Lumae's eyes starting to glow a vibrant blue again, but this time, he himself, was in no position to stop her.
