Chapter 33
Dominic and Lumae arrived at a well-known designer company just a few blocks away from Flos.co. Lumae then turned to Dominic, shocked. "Surely you're not taking me shopping in there."
Dominic smiled, "Of course I am. As I said, you'll need some clothes when you come visit me. Besides, my birthday dinner's coming up this weekend, so I need to get you all preped and dressed within four days."
Lumae was confused. "Birthday dinner? I didn't know your birthday was coming up. Why didn't you tell me?"
Dominic scratched the back of his head. "It really isn't a big deal. If I told you, you would've wanted to buy me a surprise and all that cheesy stuff. I'm not really a person that likes surprises."
"O-Oh, okay then. It would've been nice to know beforehand, but I guess it's fine." Lumae then wrapped both her arms around Dominic's one arm.
"You're getting something as well then. I wouldn't want to be the only one standing out on your birthday, now would I?"
Dominic chuckled, "Very well then. We'll stand out together." They then walked into the company.
Meanwhile, Jackson went to some sort of secluded building at the end of a strange alleyway, making sure that no one saw him go through there. When he reached the building, two armed men stood at both sides of the door.
The one to his left looked over to him. "Arms up for a pat down."
Jackson then obediently raised his arms as he was instructed. Both the men then went over to Jackson and patted him down from both sides. When they were sure that he didn't have anything on him that could be used as a weapon, they looked over at a shadowy figure in the corner of the room and nodded.
"He's clear."
The figure then lifted his right hand into the light and gestured for Jackson to step closer and sit down, so he did. When he sat down, the figure leaned forward into his hands and into the dim light. The man had long, curly, brown hair, hazel eyes and a scar running along the right side of his face. Jackson was partially terrified, but he pushed the feeling to the back of his mind. He knew Mr. Mortez had some sort of secret, he knew he had to have something to do with a cartel or something. He had to do this for Lumae's safety.
"So, Scarlett tells me you want to join our family." The man lowered his hands and placed them before him on his desk, with a gun just an inch away from his right hand.
"Now why is that?"
Jackson had a lump stuck in his throat, he was definitely afraid of the person in front of him, but he didn't let it show. He took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eyes. "I want to protect someone dear to me, but I believe the person she's in love with, might have something to do with this kind of business."
The man smiled. "Well then, you're quite the smart one, huh?" He then leaned back into the shadows, "Welcome to the Fuoco family."
Lumae and Dominic walked out of the company with a few bags of clothing. They then sprung into the car and headed back to the manor. "You can hang your clothes in the closet next to mine."
Lumae smiled, "Okay." She then rushed upstairs and started to unpack her gorgeous new clothes, placing them on the empty hangers next to Dominic's clothes.
When she finished and went down to Dominic, she was surprised to find that he had made an entire romantic set-up in the short amount of time that she was busy unpacking. A trail of rose petals led her to the dim candlelit living room. On the small table in front of the sofa, there were a bunch of delicious foods as well as a bouquet of flowers.
She saw a note on the sofa. "Sit down and relax. Tonight's going to be our first proper date night." Lumae smiled and grabbed the bouquet of flowers as she sat down, taking in its amazing scent.
As she was doing so, Dominic snuck up from behind her and held his hands over her eyes. Lumae couldn't help but laugh at his antics, and placed the bouquet of flowers next to her. "Dominic, what're you doing?"
He leaned in closer to her ear without letting his hands go from her eyes. "Keep your eyes closed."
Lumae followed Dominic's instructions. He then placed a cold metal-like thing around Lumae's neck. She could clearly feel that it was a necklace, and she was urging to open her eyes to see it, but she kept her composure. Once it was on, Dominic walked around the sofa, grabbed both of Lumae's hands and kneeled down before her.
"You may open them now."
When Lumae opened her eyes and looked down at the necklace, she was stunned. The necklace had her name as a pendant, with small blue diamonds decorating it. She immediately embraced Dominic. "I love it."
Dominic smiled lovingly, took one of Lumae's hands and brought it to his lips. "I'm glad."
Lumae smiled jokingly for a second. "Soooo, you're not the type of guy who likes surprises, huh?"
He chuckled, "I don't like getting surprised, but I do like surprising others."
Lumae now pouted jokingly, "But if you do all the surprising, what would that leave me?"
Dominic chuckled once again. "Your beauty." He moved in closer to Lumae.
"Your elegance." His hand started to slowly trail up her arms.
"Your compassion." His hand finally made it to the back of her neck.
"Everything that makes you a great luna and mate. That is more than enough for me."
Dominic's lips now hovered mere inches away from Lumae's, but he pulled back and smiled cockily. "Tonight's a movie date night. What do you want to watch?"
Lumae looked at the ground, blushing, and placed the tips of her fingers on her lips. She really wanted him to kiss her. She almost yearned for him to kiss her. She had to get a grip.
She looked up at the television and focused on what to watch. "Uhm, to be honest. I'm not really sure, all of them seem quite interesting."
Dominic smiled, "A random movie it is then."
The night went by peacefully, but Lumae was clearly hoping for much more to happen and Dominic knew exactly what he was doing. After a few movies, Dominic stood up and stretched. "It's getting late, and we have work tomorrow. I'm going to go take a quick shower."
"Oh, okay then."
He then left and for a brief instant Lumae felt disappointed, but she knew that Dominic was right. They have work tomorrow. What in the heck was she thinking? If Dominic didn't stop, she would've been put out of order for a while again and everyone knows that healing takes up quite a lot of energy. Lumae was actually quite relieved that nothing had happened, but why was Dominic suddenly acting this way?
