Chapter 29 The Necromancers Legacy Part 1
Actions have concupiscences, that was all that was running though Necro s mind the day that he had abandoned his father the day he left the guild. And they kept coming back up when ever he did something just waiting for the repercussion's. Even after all he had done he knew that the he had to face the inevitable results off al his past actions.
The Kingdom was doing well a week after Nova had chosen to step down as queen, she had gone home to see her family, wile the council made sure things where fine in her absence. Out in the fields dragons and humans alike ploughed the fields, tilled the land and harvested crops. The vast population needed food and wile magic played it s part work has to be done all the same. Amidst work a hooded figure in a clean black robe walked alone the stone path that led towards the city, as they walked to the city they where over taken by horse drawn carts using the portal s that sat on the border on the farms that allowed free travel across the world. The figure looked up at the stone dragons that lay coated over the city, matching the castle these where a manner of showing off the heritage of the kingdom.
Inside Necro sat on his chair stoking his stubble as Lady sat opposite him.
"Why are we here?" she asked.
He raised a hand to silence her, he had been like this since Nova left, why the council was in charge many matters of the public where handled in the throne room as there was no place for public grievances could be sorted out beside the throne room, where Necro liked to sit. Lady didn t feel he same, but it was up to her and Necro to deal with the disputes.
"Okay." he said letting her speak.
"Why did you drag me here, there s been like, one problem all day, and I don t want to worry about a missing shoe again."
"I miss Nova, and just being here, makes it feel as if she will come back sooner as her chair awaits."
"She won t sit on it until she s eighteen."
"I now, but it s nice to think back."
Lady stood ready to leave up when the guards escorted in the clocked figure, Necro stood to attention as he used wind to blow the hood of their head to see who was being brought before them. He was shocked and taken back to see that face was in fact his mothers, her red hair had been braided in a long pony tail that ran down over her shoulder and down her to her chest, wile her pale complexion and freckles where a stunning similar to Necro s own. The guards left her in order to fetch the other council members as she had asked to see the person or in this case persons in charge. The three where quite still, wile Lady was confused by the new comer and Necro was still mixed feelings of anger dread and love showed, but he fumed as she spoke.
"You ve grown up." she said lovingly.
Lady saw a smile brake though on his face before being replaced with a look of fear behind a scowl. Necro knew her being here was bad, but why was far worse.
"Who are you?" Lady asked stepping down to great her.
"Didn t he tell you?" she asked looking at Necro who only seemed to remain stood on his chair.
The others arrived as a group Bell, Harris and Blair where un-phased by the new comer but Kyle was angered by her mere presence. Necro walked down to be beside Lady knowing what was about to come.
"What are you doing here!" shouted Kyle.
"It s not what it looks like." she panicked not expecting to see him.
"After all that you have done, you finally came back."
Before any one had the chance to ask what was going on or even speak, Necro shot out a flame whip and held it just short of her neck. The man who could kill with out even raising a finger was know showing restraint when at times has been know to kill with out mercy. The fire was not even hot barely casing any damage as it sat just around her neck only a fragment of space between the two. As he walked toward her, Lady followed not wanting him to do anything he might regret.
"You could never bring your self to harm me." she sniggered with a hit of a sinister tone behind it.
"No, but she can." he said making a slay remark as he jumped behind Lady. He seemed to cowering as he stood behind her holding her shoulders poking his head out over one to see her.
"No." refused Lady pulling away form him "I m not doing anything."
"You don t no whether or not to trust her." he said taking s stance looking at his mother, as he disbanded the fire whip.
"I agree, we have no idea why she s her or what she has done." said Bella "or who she even is."
Kyle stormed off not wanting to stick around, the truth of to upsetting for him to handle.
"Actions always have consequences." commented Necro.
"Who is she?" asked Blair.
"She s, she s." started Necro.
"I m his mother." she said at last.
Everyone was shocked, all though little was know of her they all knew his father and only Bella knew that she was a Necromancer form the cult, even a pupil she ounce had at the guild it self.
"We should keep a watchful eye over her just the same." said Bella, unsure wither to trust her or not.
"Done." agreed Necro as he brought up stone chains and bound her hands and feet together.
"Well leave her in your hands." said Harris.
Wile Bella was unsure to leave she still had classes to teach, Harris had rounds to make and Blair was working on keeping the magic in check around the city, wile Necro had a few classes that day he had nothing to do and brought Lady away form her own practice to sit on the throne. But knowing more about him form what he had told her mostly lies she knew leaving him was a bad idea. As they disbanded Necro made a stone chain form the bounds to his hands to guide her.
"Come on." he grunted yanking the chain.
The three left, unsure on their destination.
The trio was moving though the castles many halls, Lady was doing her best to give a tour wile Necro just kept her in check as he was heading back to his room, to only have no plan after that. Wile Lady s awkward attempts to keep her spirits up failed she noticed she was more focussed on Necro then anything she had been saying.
"Why are you refusing to talk to you own mother?" Lady asked.
He stopped and looked at her his mother, before encasing her in a stone dome, to keep her form hearing.
"She cared enough about me to tell me the truth." he started.
"Okay, so she told you the truth about."
"Me being a pawn for my grandfather."
"So why are you holding a grudge."
"Maybe you should ask your self why was she not around to care of me after that, and stayed loyal to the m,an that wanted to use me." he snapped, his out burst even causing him some distress.
"Maybe she was trying to keep your grandfather away form you, or maybe she fled."
He squinted as he looked at the dome as the rocks turned to dust letting her out of her rock cage and shackles. With out saying a word she knew that was not the case, and he knew more then he was letting on.
"The book is located in the depths of the castle behind a set of wooden doors." said Necro.
"What are you doing." blurted Lady.
"But, it s not like you can use it anyway seeing as grandfather gifted you his powers, meaning you can t gain any more form it anyway." he finished.
Lady was dumbfounded the very thing he had stopped the cult form getting was now of easy access. But a sly smirk grew on his face before he departed leaving his mother with everything she needed to have over magic to his grandfather, seeing as she could just as easily bring back the army. Lady was stuck between the book and Necro wile the book was safe Necro was far worse, and in a panic induced sate went after Necro, leaving his mother all alone.
Necro was storming though the halls, his room was far behind him, Lady was racing up to catch him before he got to far.
"Wait." she called.
He stopped and turned to face her as she slowed down.
"What are you doing we don t know if we can trust her " she panicked . "And you practicality handed her the book."
"You don t get it do you." he remarked.
"Get what?" she pleaded.
"She could have raised the army back, and they re still dead."
"So then she can be trusted?"
"No, she can t."
"Why."
"My family abandoned me, my father left before I was born, my grandmother never told me the truth and let me go and grand father, enough said."
Lady saw how his anger was coming back up, the furry and rage that allowed him to kill with out even needing to raise a finger.
"As for her she left me with the truth and never came after me, she didn t try and find me."
Lady was forced to remember his isolation in the cave with no one to turn to as everyone had abandoned and left him. Lady put out a hand to touch his shoulder but he jutted her away, she watched as she slumped off back down the halls.
The castle s lower levels had been given guards to ensure the book was safe guarded, but as an added level of security and a labyrinth had been erected with guards at every turn that went deeper and deeper in and none standing in the path of the room it self. The concept was created to fool anyone foolish to go after the book to get lost and die in the maze like tunnels, but with all this it only made it easier for Necro s mother to find the book, she had dived down an unguarded hall to find a way around hoping not to get lost, and low and behold found the room. Standing before it the seal was gone and no other locks or measures placed to secure the door, Nova had removed the seal entrusting the book s safety in the fact no one knew of it as well was knowing Necro and Lady had the power to kill anyone who dear touch it. This only made it easier for her to push the doors open to lay her hands on the book as they had where not going to harm her.
"Holly death." she gasped as the doors swung open.
As she looked in the room the blood almost returning to her face her eyes didn t lay on the book nor did the lay on the other treasures the room held, they fell on Necro. Standing in the room the book was in front of him as he looked out, she knew she could kill him and he the same, but his power was the greater of the two.
"I knew you d come after the book." he said, his voice harsh and unfeeling "Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you know."
"The truth." she said as she as she knelt down tacking a seat. "I ll tell your the truth." she said looking up form her crossed legs.
The events that followed her departure to tell her son the truth where the hardest she had to face, as she was going against her mentor and father figure. The man she owed her life to, but when she returned back to her dark stone room after seeing her son for the first time since he had left for the guild she felt sad at she would not be able to see him ever again. The thoughts left he head how ever as she had to make sure no one ever found out. As always the room was dark due to the lack of lighting and dark material used, so she had no idea of what was going to happen next.
"Hello." grinned San-saw.
She jumped back with panic and dread knowing what he would do if knew why she was gone. He was sat in dark stone armchair, in the lush room at the castle that she earned though granting and heir to San-saw.
"What are you doing coming back at this hour?" he asked calmly, with the note he already knew in his voice.
"What hour is it?" she asked, trying to make it seem as she had not been to the over world.
"What did you tell him?" he asked standing up and looked away, as if to shun her.
"The truth." she proclaimed proudly.
"Well that puts a crimp in my plan." he said blankly peering back to see her still there.
She was going to fight and die to protect her child.
"You know, getting attached was not part of the deal, the deal was you have sex with my son, I make sure you get pregnant." he started but his voice moved to a harsh tone as he walked over to her. "Then you can leave your hovel hole and move her to live in in a life of luxury." he finished slapping her across the face.
She fell to the floor like a rag doll, as he looked own at her smiled maniacally, looking up at him she saw him raise a hand as she felt her soul being torn form her body, she was being reaped slowly.
"I can t have you do any more damage." he said.
With her own strength she was able to turn her power on him forcing him to stop before his own soul was reaped. As he let her go and her soul returned to her body, she had enough strength to open a new portal and escape.
Necro looked blankly at his mother, as she sat crying her eyes out recounting the pain she suffered for him. But when you know the truth and someone thinks you don t it shows them up when they lie.
"I ve been looking for you ever since." she cried holding out a hand.
He just pinned up against the wall with gale force winds, the pain shot though her body as it slammed in to the wall, as he walked over closing the door behind him.
"Your laying." he said. "Grandfather was weak, it took him all his strength to even reap one soul, you should of over powered him with ease."
Unaware of the truth she had thought it would have been the fact she was at the meeting of the Necromancers he had attend with a young women and a girl. The same day he had banished half of them the after life, leaving only a few saviours or the fact as was present as the guild when he was teaching there for a short time or even the fact she was sure he had spotted in the battle which he had banished all the Necromancer to the other side, before brining her back, but it was that of all things or maybe it wasn t, maybe that was the only think he had chosen to speak up about.
"The truth." he insisted making the winds so intense she would be crushed slowly ageist the wall.
Sighing she knew the only way to mend the bridge between them was to be honest "I was never caught, but tasked with finding you, after you never came home."
Necro pivoted his head at the term home, knowing she meant the underworld, she noticed the sudden change in his demeanour as the wind was changed to water and the air started to escape her lungs.
"That place was never a home, this, is my true home!" he snapped. The water around her head slowly moved away form her mouth and noise to let her breath.
She gasped for air as her eyes felt the sting of water hit her eyes, forcing her to close them, the water was pushing down her with to much force to move. The only thing she wanted to do was whip the water form her eyes to stop the stinging pain she felt.
Though the pain she managed to continue to explain her self. "I was recalled for the finale fight and after the battle, I was brought back."
The water began to weaken around her as she moved her body to a more comfortable position, he could only look away unable to come to terms with what he had done. The man cable of killing with out mercy or resolve, who killed his own father, sent his grand mother to deaths door and brought her back was unable to kill his own mother the only person he knew cared for him.
"I told you can t bring yourself to harm me." she smiled, almost pleased as she felt like she held power over the only threat to her own existence.
But his anger came back to the service. "I killed my own father, what s there to say I can t do the same to you."
"What?" she exclaimed, unaware of events she had missed, in the wake of her son growing up.
The death of his father and the loss of his powers where but a few of the many things she had missed by not being there.
"And this time I won t be bale to bring you back." he said.
Closing her eyes she expected death, but Necro saw her eyes close that she she would except death s embrace ounce more seeing as she already died twice by this point a dying a third time would no no problem.
"You really don t now me at all, do you." he sighed "I can t bring my self to harm you, but if you dare do anything to harm this kingdom or that book I will end you."
Opening her eyes she watched him leave, as he left the water dropped her to the floor and she was bale to wipe her eyes and by the time she had a clear view he was already gone.
