Kara was walking down the street after the long office day . The driver had gotten stuck in the middle of the road as her car had broke down. Now she had to take a cab to return home. She had just walked about five minutes away from the office building when her eyes fell on someone similar. Jacob was getting out of his Ferrari with a girl clinging to his arm like glue. Kara immediately made a face of grimace, the sight was definitely unsavory and something that she wanted to avoid desperately. She was moving her eyes away the next second but sadly it was too late as Jacob's eyes fell on her and then without delay of even a second he called out to her,
"HEY!"
Kara turned away and started walking in the opposite direction hurriedly. The mere thought of talking to the arrogant jerk ruined her mood. But unexpectedly, he came running after her after telling the girl in his arm to go inside the hotel alone for now. Kara felt his hand on her shoulder before he turned her around to face himself, "I have been calling your name, Chickie!"
"And I have been ignoring it. Couldn't you tell?" Kara murmured under her breath.
"What are you doing here?" Jacob asked with a grin on his face, "Don't tell me, are you already in love with me? Stalker much?"
Kara rolled her eyes at his words, "I work here. Sera enterprises is barely five minutes away from here. I should be the one calling you a stalker right now."
"My bad. Now don't be angry." Jacob laughed, "listen, how about you and me grab dinner together? I am sure you have not had it yet, right? I want to know how you got to Damon, after all. Is he really in love with you? He looks like a human made of ice. I am shocked after your sudden announcement."
Kara looked up at him with an appalled expression, "After what happened yesterday, do you really think I am going to go and have dinner with you?"
"Oh come on!" Jacob said nonchalantly, "it was not really anything serious. I was just kidding with you. Why are you taking this so seriously?"
"I am not hungry." Kara said dismissively, "I have to get back home. See you."
She was turning to rush away from him hurriedly and did not notice when a biker guy drove right next to her. She was right in his way, and would have gotten seriously injured if at that exact moment Jacob had not grabbed her elbow and snatched her back with a sharp pull.
Both of them fell hard on the pavement. Kara's forehead collided with the pavement corner, while Jacob's elbow got injured as well. Once the initial shock of falling down wore off, both of them stood up slowly and looked at each other.
"Are you alright? Geez, look before you try to run off woman!"
"If it was not for you bugging me constantly, I would have already reached my home safely. Stop trying to befriend me!" she snapped. The pain in her head made it even harder for her to speak clearly.
She took her hand off her forehead only to notice it covered in blood.
"Damn it!" Jacob hissed sharply under his breath, "get in the car."
"I will handl-"
"Kara, get in the car if you don't want to bleed out and make me become a possible murder suspect for trying to save your life."
Kara gave him a glare but then silently climbed in the passenger side of his car. Jacob's shirt was torn off from the place that he had taken a fall, but he was not bleeding from anywhere, so that was a relief.

"Nothing serious. I have patched it up. Just don't let the wound get wet for a day or two until the healing starts." The doctor adviced with a warm smile and let her out of the room. By the time she came out, she found Jacob pacing back and forth.
"All good?" he asked.
Kara nodded her head, "Thanks for bringing me to the hospital. But honestly, I would prefer if you don't try getting in touch with me in the future. We are not familiar with each other and I would like to keep it the same way."
Without waiting to hear his response, Kara started to walk towards the elevator, but Jacob blocked her way, "Hey, hey hey, wait up."
"Now what?" Kara gritted in irritation.
"Uh.. hehehe... you know, I wanted to see if that engagement of yours is really real real or a fake one, so I called Damon and told him you got into an accident." Kara's eyes widened in shock when he continued, "now if he really gets here leaving everything, I will be convinced that the engagement is a real one and not something that you both came up with to fool everyone."
Kara was seething by the time he stopped speaking, "Are you out of your god damn mind?!"
"No, it wa-"
"Get the fuck out of my way!" Kara snapped angrily, and started walking away. Her hand immediately fished for her phone in the bag and dialed Damon's number, but it kept going to engaged. Deciding it would be best for her to go to him at the office directly, she hurriedly went to the elevator and got in.
Unknown to her, Damon rushed out of the next elevator in frantically to find her on the same floor.
