Pacifying one's anger is not the hard toughest thing in the world, but seeing the indifference from your love- that tears you apart from inside.
James went through the same feeling when Kara turned indifferent to him. And this was not angry indifference. This was polite indifference. She stopped getting angry at him for everything. She answered his every word, but from a distance.
A week passed by and James never saw her smile at him again. She was not angry and she did not cry, in fact, she was just the opposite. She was smiling when she talked with others, especially when his family came to the office to meet her one by one. His mom, his dad, even Damon. Especially Damon, because she seemed to be filled with guilt for abandoning him on the day of the marriage. Even when Damon apologized to her for what he had done- for being the bad person to tell that woman named Lila to bring up Damon's name in front of her- she did not get angry and forgave him right away.
James' family seems to have forgiven him for his actions. Damon had told them that Kara and James had been in love when Kara had not left the country. Hearing that from him, they had somehow blamed themselves for not even asking about Kara's wishes regarding her marriage with Damon. And now they had assured her that no matter whom she spent her life with, they will love her just as they had loved her always. Like their own daughter. On the other hand, they also promised to try and look at James in a new light that did not carry any darkness. They wanted their son to be good to them, and to be happy when he saw them.
Kara had listened to them silently, but when James' name came into the conversation, she withdrew herself from everyone who mentioned his name. James was fed up with his own self and his helplessness, and this distance between them. He was ready to do anything to make Kara look at him and smile again.
On the other hand, Kara was getting depressed with each passing day. She was restless and had started considering taking anti depression pills. When James saw Kara like this, he was determined to make everything right in his and Kara's life. Including trying to be good to his parents.
Kara was frustrated with her life. When she brought the anti depressents home, they disappeared the next day. She knew James had taken them and threw them away because he was worried about her getting addicted to those pills but she really needed them to not have this sinking feeling in her chest. She knew he was ashamed for the words he had said to her but she was hurt, and somehow this deep depression was making her stubborn enough to not forget those words. She could forgive him for what he said, but forgetting those words... that was getting hard for her.
Clenching her eyes shut tightly, she took deep breaths in front of the mirror in the bathroom at the home to hide the overwhelming feeling of irritation that kept on building up and increasing each day.
When the attempt of suppressing it became futile, she came out of the room, when a masculine arm shot out and grasped her elbow, pulling her in a dark hallway. She was about to hit the man when a pair of lips fell on her neck while her body got trapped between the hard wall and the strong chest.
"James." she murmured softly.
"Why do you keep avoiding me? Why can't you come to me and tell me how much my words hurt you?" his voice had turned begging when he murmured, "talk to me. Hit me. Curse me. Do anything you want, but just stop ignoring me."
Kara closed her eyes as she felt his heavy breaths that fell on her neck. His chest pressed against her back, heat surged through the flimsy material of his shirt. No matter how much hurt she was, how much angry she was with him, her traitorous body seemed to give in to him easily. When James lowered his lips and touched her nape, a shiver went from her toes to settle between her thighs.
"Kara, please forgive me." he begged, "I should never have said something so heartless without thinking twice. I just want us to start over again. I am repenting mentioning your parents from the moment I said those words. And I am seeing this shine disappearing from your eyes each day and I just... I have started hating myself. Can you please come back to your James? I love you so much, and I am sorry."
Not knowing what to say to him, a tear slipped from Kara's eyes and fell on his hand. He cursed under his breath and turned her around to face himself. She was trying to hold on to her emotions tightly, not wanting to give them away.
"Can't you forget what I said?" he asked, his voice was soft and filled with remorse. Kara stared at him silently for a moment and then she opened her lips, only for the broken voice to whisper,
"Your parents are my parents too."
Her shaking voice tore his heart apart. He pulled her closer to himself and sealed her lips with his own. He did not deepen the kiss, his lips just lingered on hers to show his gratitude. To show how much she, and her words meant to him.
But Kara, her anger, her hurt, her love, everything got infused in that kiss. Her teeth bit down on his lips and his tongue, her hands slid in his hair and pulled him closer to her roughly. He endured everything with a groan, her each accusation and all her pain. When he finally tore back from the heavy hiss and pulled his lips away, he rested his forehead on hers and murmured,
"My parents are more yours than mine. You have every right to be angry at me when I insult or hurt them. Everything is yours, Kara. Everything."
Kara's eyes became wet again after hearing his words, "Don't ever say those words to me ever again." she whispered, "I would never..."
Her words got caught in her throat when James' lips landed on hers again, pushing her back against the wall and pinning her there. She felt his hardness pressing against her abdomen which brought a moan from her lips to be buried in his mouth. He groaned feeling her hand on his chest, roaming on his torso freely. His hand went on her thigh, lifted her up, and cradled her like she weighed nothing.
Kara was lost in the kiss, oblivious to his actions as his tongue delved deeper into her mouth, making her groan as she felt his hardness pressing on her core. A few seconds later she found herself in the darkened bedroom, her back met the soft mattress and her front was covered with his hard, muscular body.
She almost tore his shirt apart while her mouth slid to his collarbone, earning a pleasure filled hiss from his mouth.
"Kara."
"Let's begin again." she whispered.
