Kara was looking out of the car window without saying a word. Her hands were folded under her chest and she kept staring out without giving James a glance. She could not believe she had lost her cool like this. Like a freaking child! Who does that?! 'Ran around in a fucking cemetery to smash her husband's head' - the newspaper highlight of tomorrow's issue. She wanted to bury her head in the sand.
"Hey, shorty, turn on the radio." James's teasing voice nagged at her.
Kara gritted her teeth and avoided him. She was trying to bury that intense sensation of frustration that kept making her turn into an idiot in front of him.
"Come on! Don't tell me that you are angry because you are short and can not catch up with me? I would have given you some of my le-"
"SHUT UP! And stop calling me shorty!" Kara turned her head to him and snapped.
His white, giddy grin met her gaze. Rolling her eyes fiercely, she pushed her finger on the screen in the car to turn on the damn radio so that she would not have to listen to his blabbering. This man had suddenly turned from 'not having a tongue to speak a word' to 'I am the king of blabbermouths' in one day.
Kara then stopped herself from jumping out of a running car when the song that came on was 'I Know I Can Treat You Better Than He Can' by Shawn Mendes.

The evening had already started falling, the sky was turning blue fast. Kara had closed her eyes and was resting her head on the headrest of her seat when the car came to a stop. She opened her eyes, ready to get out thinking they had already reached James' house but as soon as she put her hand on the door, she realized they were nowhere near a housing colony. The car had been parked in front of an amusement park?
"What are you doing?" She murmured in surprise.
Before she could turn her head to the driver's seat, her door was clicked open and extended wide for her to get out.
"What are you doing?!" she repeated the question.
Instead of responding to her, James bent down and lifted her up in his arms. Her mouth let out a squeal in shock but he was already shutting the door with a push from his hip and making the car lock with the button in his hand.
"JAMES!" Kara squirmed in his hold, trying to get out of his tight grasp as he continued striding towards the entryway of the amusement park that was lit with numerous colorful lights, "are you out of your damn mind?! Why are we here?"
"Hush." he shook his head at her lightly as his arms tightened on her thighs and waist to stop her from moving so much, "you are not as light as you think. You are going to fall the next time you try to move, wifey."
"STOP calling me wifey!" she snapped again.
"You tell me to stop calling you shorty. Then you tell me to stop calling you wifey. What do you want me to call you? Darling? Baby? Sex partner?"
Kara gasped and hit his arm immediately. What she had not realized was that while she had been bantering with him, James had already made an entry inside the amusement park's door and was now walking in without a worry in the world.
"Will you put me down!" Kara gritted out now as she realized how he had taken advantage of her ignorance.
This time, he let her feet fall to the ground, letting her stand up but grabbed her arm to pull her further inside the park with himself while trying to avoid bumping in people.
"James! I don't want to go to a fucking Amusement park on my parents' death anniversary!"
This time her voice had turned extremely angry as he did not let her get free of his grasp. When he heard her voice, he finally turned around and stepped forward, close enough for her to feel his chest on hers before he bent down a little so that his face was right in front of hers and his green eyes were staring into her brown ones. And then suddenly a white Lily was coming between their lips when he softly whispered, "Happy birthday, sweetheart."
