Charles dragged Eva in the house by the back of her neck. Throwing her to the floor, her hip hit the tile hard.
"You sneaky little bitch!” He seethed, the alcohol on his breath evident, "You think you can hide shit from me?” Pulling a paper from his pocket, he opened it revealing a flyer with her name. Eva looked at it in horror, feeling his large hand against her face. "And that part about the impotent husband? What was that about me?”
"NO, I WOULD NEVER-”
He struck her again before grabbing her tightly by her short hair. Dragging her to the bedroom, he let her body hit the floor.
"I had to cancel my plans to stay behind because you want to read that bullshit.” He kicked her, "I should have listened to my fucking mother and married Jasmine, at least she’s a *real woman.*”
He kicked her again in her stomach, causing her to vomit onto his shoe. The sight of it infuriated him further, and he kicked her again.
"Had that little fucker touching you, whispering in your ear. I bet he’s the one you’ve been sleeping with isn’t he?” Bending down, he spit at her, "Then you had the audacity to bring him to my house. Not too bright Eva, think I didn’t see the plates in the sink?”
Eva balled her body into a ball and allowed herself to go to another place. The harder he struck, the farther she traveled.
*30…29…28*
-------------------------------------------------
After leaving Eva’s event early, Alaric needed to clear his mind. Standing against the rails of the pier, he looked out to the water as he took a drag of his cigarette. Seeing her in her element, made him feel weird.
*Her smile…number four*
Alaric ran his hand through his hair in frustration. He was getting too close, and he knew it, especially since she didn’t know his secret.
*Not to mention she clearly likes Mark*
He hated everything about him. Just seeing him touch her arms, pissed him off. It should have been him giving her words of encouragement, and yet he remained in the shadows. Rubbing his face, he took a long drag and closed his eyes. Why did she have to make this whole thing so difficult? Why couldn’t she just be like everything else in his life? Simple and without invoking anything from him. Even Drusilla and he were just friends who had a little fun. Neither of them taking anything too serious, neither of them getting intimate with their feelings. Yet, his peculiarly frustrating Little Human made everything different, both infuriating him and intriguing him. It was what got under his skin the most yet was the same thing that wouldn’t allow him to stay away.
"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?! I’VE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER FOR YOU!” Raien’s angry voice radiated from his side.
"Minding my business,” He shot back annoyed.
Raien’s grabbed his shoulders, “"laric…she needs you. He…he saw her tonight.”
Alaric eyes reddened, “Where is she?”
“At the house, he’s…” Raien couldn’t finish the statement.
"YOU SHOULD HAVE LET ME FUCKING KILL HIM!” He raged before immediately disappearing.
Finding his way to Eva’s home, the smell of blood hit him immediately. Light cascaded from her home office, his eyes widened seeing her bloodied body on the floor. Books ripped to shreds, papers everywhere, strands of her hair on the floor. Racing over her, he lifted her head, and she could hardly open her eyes.
"…Alaric,” She choked and held her stomach.
"I got you, Eva,” he said, carefully wrapping his arms around her.
A slight commotion behind him, made him turn around as a fist collided with his face. Charles stood over them both. Words slurring, he looked at him angrily, "So, you have two huh Eva? I knew you were a little whore.”
Alaric stood ducking as Charles took another swing, stumbling slightly. Alaric wanted nothing more than to rip him apart, but he knew he couldn’t even hit him. The book bound him from doing so, so instead, he would have to wait until Charles tired. Turning and looking at Eva, he felt Charles punch him in his side. Blow for blow he took the beating, waiting patiently until it was over. Eva’s eyes widened seeing Charles hurt Alaric.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!” She screamed to which Charles just smiled before hitting him again. Alaric’s eyes closed, he groaned with every hit inflicted upon him while ducking a few. Eva felt her tears fall as his hazel eyes opened, locking with hers. Wobbly and in pain, she stood using all her strength to make it to her desk. Leaning against the wood, her vision blurry, she struggled to find what she was looking for. Grabbing the book, her blood hit the pages as she opened it slowly. Her hand shook as she took the pen in her hand.
"I SAID LEAVE HIM ALONE!”
An evil smiled plastered itself on Alaric’s face. Eyes red, he watched in excitement as Eva began to write in his book.
*Alaric’s body shifted into an unrecognizable beast as he towered over her human husband. The sight of him caused the man to stumble before he retreated to the hall. Scaling the ceiling, Alaric blackened the home, toying with him like a cat does a mouse. Allowing the man to retreat to the bathroom, he scratched his claws against the door. “How fun this will be for me,” he said tilting his tendrilled head in jest. The look of horror on her human husband’s face bringing him immense joy.
*“What the hell are you?” Alaric didn’t respond, instead just closed the door.Picking the man up, he raised him above his head, and let out a deep roar into his face. Sharp yellowed teeth, red gleaming eyes, Alaric extended his mouth. Dropping him, he quickly locked down on his arm, tearing it from his shoulder. Screams nourishing his hunger, driving his nonstop vicious attack. Alaric clawed and bit repeatedly into his betrothed’s human husband, swallowing the pieces until there was nothing of him left. *
Eva’s shook, as she collapsed to the floor. Trying her best to cover her ears, she listened in terror at Charles's screams. Silence filled the home, until from under the desk, she could blurrily make out boots. Body bruised, unable to no longer fight, she allowed Alaric to pick her up.
Alaric carried her body, unsure where her blood ended, and Charles began. Vanishing them to his home, he placed her fractured body onto the bed. Delirious, she clung to him and muttered under her breath,
"The plates…I forgot to wash the plates…”
His heart tore in two. Pulling her into his arms, she writhed in pain, tears falling from her slowly blackening eyes. "I got you, Eva,” he said rocking her, as she felt warmth flow through her body. Eva could feel his strong arms around her, his light cologne filling her nose. She didn’t want to pass out, but she was so tired and somehow, she knew she was safe. Lips to her ear, he held her tighter causing her to sigh in relief and pain. In a voice lower than before, she heard him lightly before she succumbed to the darkness.
"I got you Eva, always...30…29...28”
