The Devil's Influence

Running her long red nails against the desk and smiled at Eva.

"I don’t want you here.”

"And yet you managed to summon me.”

Eva fumed, "I was trying to call Alaric, though I assume he’s been with you.”

Drusilla’s smile widened, "He has been.” Seeing Eva blow steam from her nose, she threw up her hands. "Relax, he just comes to the bar sometimes and now actually drinks. He’s become quite boring, I assume that’s because of you.”

Eva felt a lump form in her throat, "What does that mean?”

Drusilla rolled her eyes, "No sex, no drugs…nothing I’d consider fun and I enjoy my fun.”

"Why are you telling me this?”

Drusilla leaned against the wall, "You broke our boyfriend so I figured you should know.” Eva felt her eyes slightly redden and she quickly closed them. Hearing her call Alaric her boyfriend royally pissed her off. Either she was oblivious to Eva’s anger or she simply didn’t care, Drusilla continued her rant. "Alaric and I have fun, sex, drugs maybe even a little rock and roll.” She smirked. "We don’t even fuck anymore, and that was the best part although I’m sure you already know.” She rolled her eyes before smiling at Eva again. "Curious, why are you calling him?”

Eva's face turned into a scowl. She didn’t want to talk to Drusilla, but she knew she didn’t have a choice. "I need help with something and he’s not answering when I call. I thought the damn book would be helpful, but it brought you instead.”

"You do know he’s pissed at you? Don’t know why, but he’s definitely pissed hence why he’s probably not answering.”

"He told you that?”

“Didn’t have to. Alaric easy to read, perhaps you’re just not paying enough attention.”

*So he is ignoring me.*

She didn’t like that either. Even though she already knew it, she hated hearing confirm.

"Well as riveting as this is, I have better things to do than spend my time with a human.” Standing, Drusilla folded her arms. "Be a little smarter human, you know how to get him here.”

"I don’t…” She stopped and her face flushed.

Drusilla winked, "Good girl.”

As she prepared to leave, Eva stopped her, "Why are you helping me?”

Drusilla smirked, "Because I do quite like you whether you believe it or not. I enjoy riling you up because it shows me that you care about my friend. Just because I’m not interested in something serious with Alaric doesn’t mean I don’t want to see him happy. Besides…even if I did want something, his heart already belongs to you.” With that Drusilla vanished leaving Eva confused about their conversation. She would deal with that later, right now she had a more important task.

Walking to her bedroom, Eva slowly undressed. Laying in the middle, her thought traveled to the moment they shared in the bathroom. Hands to her breast, she allowed her fingers to travel over her body. Alaric’s eyes, his smell, his touch replaying over and over. She closed her eyes and bit her lip, and murmured low, *"Alaric…I need you.”* Climaxing on her fingers, she laid breathless on the bed.

A strong hand tugged hard at her leg, yanking her to the edge. Alaric glared at her, his eyes fully dilated. "That was really low.”

She shivered, his red eyes boring into her. "Y-you weren’t answering me.”

His face seemed to harden more, "It’s called ignoring. Figured you would know since you do it so well.”

She flinched, "I-I wasn’t ignoring you.”

He scoffed, "What the hell do you want Eva and please don’t say sex. I’m no longer interested.” His voice was cold and as angry as he was making her, part of her feared him more.

Grabbing her robe, she quickly covered her body. "No, I need your help. They're accusing me of killing Charles.”

He laughed, "Didn’t you?”

She breathed hard. She was angry, but out of nowhere found herself extremely hungry. Her mouth watered, as she watched the vein pop in his neck. She breathed in deep, feeling the rage permeate from his body. She felt a tingle between her legs. Eva closed her eyes and spoke through clench teeth.

"You’re pissing me off.”

"Join the fucking club.”

“FUCK IT!” She angrily stormed past him, but he quickly grabbed her hand.

His eyes again his hazel color. "I’ll take care of it.”

She nodded and he promptly disappeared. She exhaled hard, feeling flutters in her stomach. Now was not the time to talk about the baby…maybe it would never be.

Stepping into his sibling's home, Alaric screamed out, “Lucifer! Where are you?”

"In here.” Alaric followed the voice. Pushing open the office door, he stared at Lucifer as she sat at the desk. Papers in her hand, she looked up and spoke to her brother. "Make it quick, I’m swamped.”

Alaric glared at her. "Make time."

"Do you know how many people are coming to hell? I don’t have time for your shit.”

"It’s about Eva.”

That got her attention "Oh, the little wife.”

"Don’t call her that.”

She smirked, "Are we still pretending you’re not in love with her? You have been for years, the denial is getting old.” Alaric blew steam but remained quiet. "So what can I do for you?”

"I killed her husband and the stupid ass humans think she did it.”

Lucifer tapped her finger to her lip. "Hmm…well just temporarily reanimate him. Simple.”

Alaric ran his hands through his hair in frustration, "Not simple, I ate him.”

Lucifer shook her head, "You have to stop eating people you don’t like Alaric! Just because you can, doesn't’ mean that you should.”

Alaric rolled his eyes, "Are you going to help or not?”

"This is your mess, why would I get involved?”

“Because you love me.” Silence, and then they both broke out in laughter.

"Oh big brother, always one with wit. Now seriously, what’s in it for me?”

Alaric smirked, "How about because you owe me, for that little story I fed the humans. Do this and I’ll owe you one.”

She rolled her eyes, "Damnit, I knew you were going to bring that up. It’s not my fault they’re not progressive enough to accept the devil is a woman. Hell, even dad’s advisor still refers to me as male.” She scoffed. "Ugh fine, how can I help?”

"I need a pawn.”

She tilted her head confused, "How is that-”

Alaric snapped his fingers, changing his face to resemble hers. An evil smile spread across her face, "I like where this is going.”

"I need you to influence him, you know dear ole dad bound my ability to do that."

"Did you forget the Garden of Eden incident you little serpent? They still think that was me.”

Sheepishly, Alaric rubbed his neck, "Sorry…”

"Oh don’t be, I enjoy the notoriety.” She walked towards her filing cabinet. "What we need is a damned soul. Someone who's going to be coming here anyway. A loophole, that way the balance isn't thrown off. Extend your mirage just until they put him in the ground.” Alaric nodded, as she looked through in contemplation. Pulling out a folder, she handed it to Alaric. "He’s most certainly on his way.”

He nodded, "He’s perfect.” Alaric turned to leave.

"I know what I want from you.”

He paused, "What?”

"Bring my sister-in-law to meet me and make sure she brings your book. I find myself curious to what she wrote inside” Alaric remained silent and vanished. Returning to her desk, she called over the intercom, "Send in a few of the demons, I’m feeling a little frisky.”

--------------------------------------------------------

Alaric had done a number on her. Unsure if it was his anger or just his presence but her body was on fire, Eva raced to the bathroom and masturbated in the shower until she could hardly stand. She dried her hair and made her way to the kitchen.

*I’m starving.*

She pulled out a salad. Taking a bite, it did nothing to satiate her hunger. She slammed down her fork in annoyance hearing her phone. "HELLO?!” She wasn’t in the mood.

"Turn on the news.” Mark’s deep voice, said on the other end.

"Why?”

"Just do it.”

She huffed under her breath. Flipping through the channels, she found finally found the news.

"Reporting live from the square, police are working overtime to get the man to come down from the ledge” The reporter placed her hand to her earpiece. “We have just confirmed that the man in question is Charles Wright, husband of famed author Eva Wright. Sources say he’s was reported missing recently.” Eva's eyes widened as she stared at Charles hanging on the ledge.

*That-That’s not possible.*

From inside, the police spoke to him, "Sir…please you don’t have to do this.”

Charles's eyes remained forward. Completely ignoring everything around him, he looked down to the bottom.

"Charles, that’s your name, right?”

He said nothing. Teetering his body forward, his eyes remained dead.

"Charles, why don’t you come off the ledge? I’m sure there are plenty of people who miss you. Your friends, family…your wife Eva.”

He turned his head, "Eva?”

"Yes…Come on down so you can see Eva.”

Charles looked at him hard. Turning his head back to the front he spoke. "Tell Eva, I’m sorry.” And with that on live television, Eva watched him jump.
