.11. I'm sorry for the piece of shit your son has grown into.
Camilla rushed to pack her bag. She spent the majority of the night thinking about recent events. Even when she felt too tired to keep her eyes open- the wild thoughts and fears didn't leave her mind.
She slept in, and now Camilla had less than thirty minutes till the first period started. She spent a good ten minutes getting a hold of Blake, but her friend didn't pick up the phone. Camilla didn't want to assume the worst, so she thought Blake took some early classes or was busy. He could have forgotten his phone since she used to text him each morning to remind of things Blake usually forgets.
Camilla didn't have a car, so she knew that getting to the school will take more time than any other day. On regular mornings Blake picked her up, and they spent some quality time together.
She grabbed her hoodie and bag, slid on the old sneakers, and locked the house before bolting towards the school. As she ran, Camilla felt like the whole world was against her- each traffic light burned red in front of her. When she managed to reach the school grounds, the young woman was panting, yet happy- she had five more minutes to get to the class.
Camilla headed towards her locker, instantly regretting showing up at the school. Everyone in the hallways pointed their fingers at her and whispered a variety of meanest things she had ever heard.
On her locker door was multiple notes, different words with identical meaning- she was a traitor in everyone's eyes. Camilla sighed, she knew who must be behind the rumor, but she wasn't strong enough to fight against him. Of course, sooner or later, everyone would find out that she's leaving, but she hoped that the day would come later.
Camilla opened the locked and pushed her bag in. As she was about to close the door- someone passed by and pushed her against the metal lockers. She groaned in pain, holding onto her shoulder.
"Motherfucker, this is going to leave a bruise," she hissed under her breath.
Deep down, Camilla hoped that Blake would appear out of nowhere- as always. He would save her from the stares and make her smile. Her eyes roamed around the hallway until they fell on her best friend. A shy smile appeared on her lips, but Blake never returned one. He looked at her in disgust and turned his back to her.
"What on Earth?" Camilla's eyes widened as she watched her best friend's behavior. She was left shocked, especially since Blake didn't seem bothered by the cold shoulder he gave her.
He stood with a couple of cool kids, Zane and Kaiden included. They all laughed and mimicked the same actions as everyone else had- whispering, pointing fingers, and pushing her around.
*"Congratulations, Mr. soon-to-be Alpha, you did it. You ruined my life and took the last person who mattered,"* Camilla thought to herself, pulling the math book closer to her chest. She managed to get to the class in time- at least one positive thing.
Camilla spent the whole day trying to approach her best friend and figure out what happened and why he changed like that.
During lunch, Blake sat with the popular's, and Camilla chose to stay outside. They used to sit under an enormous oak tree, a perfect combination of shadow and sun. Only when Camilla sat down she remembered about the lunch- the young woman left it on the kitchen counter because of the hectic morning.
*"It's alright, Camilla, don't give up. You will eat as soon as you get home- you have one period left, and then you go back home. Read a book, listen to some music, anything to relax,"* she tried to give herself a pep talk, but even that wasn't the best encouragement.
The book she had in her bag was one Camilla read at least a hundred times. She didn't felt like listening to any kind of music, so the young woman decided to check her social media.
Not like she had many friends or followers, but still. When she opened the app and tapped on the feed button- she gasped.
The whole feed was packed with her photos and news about her leaving. Some people, which Camilla didn't know, spoke about her as if they were best friends. Many other girls posted a lot of mean things, but none of those words hurt Camilla as much as what she saw next. Blake had the most information published under his profile- he was the one who provided a dose of a laugh to everyone. The information varied- her secrets, dreams, fears, and even childhood photos. He was sharing her life with everyone as if it was his. Camilla deleted the app; she didn't want to see how the closest person betrays her.
She wanted to put away her phone, but it suddenly buzzed. With shaky hands, she tapped the green button and placed the phone to her ear.
"Hello?" Her voice sounded raspy.
"Good day, Camilla. I'm glad I managed to get a hold of you. We returned yesterday, and my mate was wondering, would you like to join us for lunch. She has some things to talk over, and I would like to discuss more about your leaving," the Alpha was in a good mood. His voice was gentle, voice monotone, and Camilla could hear whenever his lips curled up in a smile.
"Sure, I have one period left, but since it's art, I could skip. With your permission, of course. I have a matter to talk about myself also," Camilla leaned against the tree, looking up at the sky.
"You have my permission," Alpha agreed and informed her where the couple would wait for her.
"I'll be there shortly," Camilla ended the phone call and stood up, dusting the bits of grass off her pants.
She placed her phone in the hoodie pocket and threw the hood over her head. The young woman neared the school gate when someone grabbed her upper arm. She turned around and gasped in surprise- it was Blake. Very dark looking, grinning Blake.
"Nobody is to leave the school territory until the day ends," he growled, looking down at Camilla. She couldn't understand how a person can change so much in one night.
"I have Alpha's permission," she shrugged, hiding any emotion she felt. Camilla wanted to throw her arms around Blake's neck and sob against his chest. She missed the warmth and comfort both gave each other over the years. But she also felt truly betrayed for the stupid things he did on social media.
"Is that so?" Blake laughed, looking over his shoulder. Behind him stood a crowd of people, Zane and Kaiden included.
"Yes, the Alpha couple requested for me to join them, you're standing in my way, so technically- you're defying your Alpha's orders," Camilla did her best to sound stern. She understood that the friendship they once shared wasn't there anymore. Blake didn't need her while she needed him more than ever. Her best friend found new people to hang around- why would a popular guy need a weak, hated Omega as a friend?
"Yo, Zane?" Blake called out, his eyes fixated on Camilla, burning holes in her skin. Surprisingly only Zane approached them; Kaiden stood and didn't move- casually talking with the girls.
"What's up?" Zane spoke to Blake, but the wink he sent Camilla didn't stay unnoticed by most of the shifters around.
"She's trying to skip, coming up with excuses about meeting with your parents. Did Alpha mention anything to you?" Blake gripped her arm tighter, nearly making the young woman wince. She bit onto her lower lip to keep even the slightest sounds from escaping.
"No, I haven't heard anything like that." Zane grinned, sliding hands into pockets of his jeans. His facial expression was victorious, but Camilla decided to fight against injustice. Everyone hated her since the person she trusted most chose to go against her. No matter what they think- she is not a liar.
"Go ahead; check am I saying the truth, morons. For as much as I care- I can stay but blame my absence on both of you, not me. The hickeys on my arm will be proof that I was held against my will," Camilla snarled. She had enough- since the day when she ran into Zane, her life became a nightmare. Alpha-to-be, hah, sour little boy.
"And that's how you're talking to your future Alpha, mutt?" Zane growled in rage, stepping closer to Camilla, which was still held by Blake.
"You are no Alpha to me, and you will never be one. Stop acting, everyone here knows that I'm getting my ass out of here as soon as I can. I rather die than live under the control of a sissy prick!" Camilla yelled straight in Zane's face. He deserved all venom in her words.
She didn't register what and how happened, but within seconds, she was on the concrete. Her palm covered her cheek, which stung in pain. Zane hovered over her, obviously pissed off, his breathing deep. The fucker slapped her.
"Dare to repeat this little stunt, and next time I won't be so merciful on you, trash!" Zane growled.
Camilla nodded and reached for her phone. Everyone's eyes were on her as she dialed the number and hit the call button. As the person answered, she took a deep breath and spoke.
"I'm sorry, Alpha, looks like I am not allowed to leave the school ground for now," her voice was stern, not a single hint of pain laced in it.
"And why is that so?" His voice was deep and powerful, Zane and Blake froze as they overheard the Alpha.
"I think one slap a day is enough for me," she smiled at both bullies. Their faces drained from color, Blake's body visibly shaking.
"Explain, Camilla," Alpha growled, demanding immediate answers.
"Partly my fault. Your son's friend held me against my will even though I explained that I was to go to meet the Alpha couple. Your son didn't believe me either, nor did anyone want to check if the information I provided is true or false. We got into a heated discussion, and I got slapped for that. It seems like my lip was split in the process," Camilla let out a deep breath. The tension around everyone grew, most of the shifters leaving the gate area.
"Tell my son to sit his ass down and let you go. No, I will myse..." Alpha didn't get to finish what he was about to say when Camilla interrupted him.
"With all due respect, Alpha, I must say no. I'm sorry. Our families were great friends in the past, but nobody in this pack owes me anything, including the Alpha family. I agreed to comply with your demands, but not anymore. I am leaving, with or without permission- I will break the pack link." Camilla announced, not a single bone in her body shaking in doubt.
"Why? Is that because of the slap? I swear to the Moon Goddess herself that whoever dared to lay a hand on you will regret it!"
"According to the law, any member, regardless of rank, has the right to leave the pack. Especially if they, by any means, feel unsafe or threatened. Everyone in the school knows about my decision, and nobody respects it; instead, I get treated like shit. I was attacked for following orders from the Alpha, and I will not live under the control of an abuser. I, Camilla Avery Tatum, break the pack link with The Blood Warrior pack. From now on, I am a rogue on your land. Since the law states that I must leave within two weeks, I will do it as soon as my transfer is possible. Thank you for everything, Alpha Snow. And I'm sorry for the piece of shit your son has grown into." Camilla ended the call. She stood back on her feet, wiped the blood off her lips with the muddy sleeve, and spit out blood.
She smiled at Blake and flipped them both off.
The young woman left the school territory. She didn't bother to look back, not anymore. If she would mean anything to Balke- Camilla would bid her goodbyes and hug him, but now she wouldn't. He didn't deserve her love and care.
Camilla knew- even if the next pack wouldn't take her in, she would rather spend the rest of her life as a lone wolf than keep silent in abuse. Enough is enough.
