.13. A diary?

*"Zane, I want to see you in my office. Now,"* Alpha Snow mind-linked his son.

The young male couldn't remember even one time when his father would sound so pissed off. The things he had done in the past were often worse than slapping an Omega. But this time, the Alpha didn't take his careless doings kindly. For the past two days, Luna didn't spare a glance at her son. Whenever Alpha announced anything- his voice was laced in hatred towards his son.

*"Yeah, won't happen, father!"* Zane snarled.
Despite knowing that what he did was wrong, the young man had enough attitude from his parents. At one point, he suggested his mother adopt the Omega if they loved the girl so much. They could mold Camilla into their perfect child. To Hell- Zane was so pissed off, he would surely give her the damn title and leave himself.

*"Quit your attitude, boy. We had enough of your shit for years. Get your lazy ass off of that sofa and move to the damn office."* Alpha was trying his best to see his son the same as he did all those years. Zane wasn't an easy child, but the parents usually thought that his dominant nature is to blame. As he became older, problems caused by the next Alpha in line appeared to grow bigger.

*"Running, your fucking highness,"* Zane snarled, dropping the console controller, smashing it in pieces. He didn't seem bothered, even though Zane kept staring at the remains of plastic and metal details. He sighed and shrugged his shoulders, yelling out for Omegas to clean up the mess.

A lot of things changed during those two days. Zane got forbidden from approaching Camilla. Both Alpha and Luna made it very clear when they admitted being unable to forgive his actions.
The Alpha-to-be had to stay home and skip school until Camilla left the pack. Alpha Snow arranged security around her house, knowing how his son can be. Even Luna thought that the idea was good, Zane had a habit of taking revenge. He spent most of his days in the living room playing video games or sleeping the days away in his bedroom. The Alpha forced him to involve himself more in the pack business- joining meetings and arranging piles of paperwork.
Zane felt like a slave in his home, but that never made him think how low others might feel about themselves.
At this point, he didn't feel like Omegas are just a weak link in the pack. He hated and despised them from the bottom of his heart.
Who would have thought that one Omega could turn his life upside down?

"You wanted to see me?" Zane barged into his father's office. He was used to receiving the cold shoulder, so the young man didn't bother to greet his parents. Or to spare a glance at any of them.

"You know, even when someone invites you to join them- polite people knock before barging in," Alpha Show pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed in disappointment. He watched how his son sat on the sofa and stared at the ceiling. He didn't like acting so coldly towards the boy, nor did his mate, but someone had to teach him a lesson.

"Yeah, and they do if they want to join the said person. I didn't want to come here; you made me to. So, here I am, make it quick," both of them were trying to punish each other in some way.

Despite the differences- both men always had a relatively good relationship. Alpha never complained about his son and the other way around.

"Probably because you have responsibilities? Just because you got some days off the school doesn't mean that you can act like a parasite. My time as a leader is coming to an end, Zane. I've spent a lot of time building this pack up and fighting for it to survive. The job isn't easy, especially with training and the law system among us. If you don't take this seriously, I will have no other option than..." Alpha Snow couldn't finish what he had to say as Zane interrupted him. A very pissed off, aggressive Zane.

"You will have no other option than what? Go ahead, tell me, father. What will be the next threat you'll come up with? Huh? As if I haven't heard it all! Zane, you are not allowed to approach the Omega. Zane, you will not attend the school until she's gone. You are a fucking prisoner in your own house from now on, until I change my mind. Sure, my education will never stand as high as some low ass wolves fear. Hah, surprise me, give me your best shot," as Zane spoke, he made sure to mimic his father while repeating the new house rules. Other than that- his voice dropped from an aggressive tone to careless. Of course, he knew that the slap was too much; the nagging and annoying the girl wasn't the brightest idea either. But despite that, Zane wouldn't allow anyone to point out the mistakes he made or punish him. Giving his parents the attitude was the best way to fight back. As someone with Alpha blood, he wouldn't let anyone, even his parents, defy him anyway.

"I will have no other option than," Alpha Show sighed, shaking his head: "unite the pack with one of our neighbors. When the day comes- I will step down, and the other pack's Alpha will take it. I don't think that you will be ready to live up the expectations. Today, I wouldn't allow you to take the Beta's rank, let alone Alpha. Your mother and I spoke about the issue- unfortunately, both of us see that you don't take it seriously," Alpha leaned back in his chair. He watched how his son's facial expression changed- from anger to shock, the shock to disbelief, and so on. He didn't want to go to such an extent, but if his son won't change- that might be the only right decision. Alpha had to see how the pack grows and blooms, yet the attitude of his son might lead to destruction.

"And all of this is coming from where? From one fucking time when I slapped an Omega because the bitch disrespected me in front of everyone? I can't believe it, you've lost your mind, father. One simple slap, and I'm losing my title? I was born to be an Alpha, and she was born to be a fucking servant! Dirt has to know its place; sadly, you don't seem to understand things the same way as I do. It's alright, though, do however you please. Excuse me; I'll have to train more so I can kill the next Alpha of choice and take back what's mine," Zane grinned at his father, looking straight into his eyes.

"I just announced that you wouldn't take the Alpha title if you don't change, didn't you heard me? All you had to do was think of your actions and mistakes, and meet the consequences- a little change in your attitude. Instead, you choose to crawl out of your skin and kill someone? Are you fucking stupid?" Aloha growled, jumping on his feet and slamming his fist against the table surface. His nostrils flared as he breathed heavily, anger taking over any rational thinking.

"I heard you, father- loud and clear. I could, technically, think of my actions, yadda yadda. But why should I comply with your demands if I can play the game by my rules? You'll get the satisfaction in seeing someone else taking over. I, on the other hand, will enjoy the sweet taste of victory after killing the fucked of your choice. Trust me; I will fully savor the taste of blood after I get my place back. Wait and see; I'll make sure to show you a blood bath beyond your imagination. It was nice catching up with you. Let's do it more often," Zane pointed out a lot of vile things, but the grin on his face didn't fade. Alpha Snow watched how heartless his son can be in terror. The boy grew up in a loving household, without a thing missing. And it turns out that he's nothing but a savage.

"We should, I agree on that one. Feel free to visit me as soon as you're ready to disappoint me even more. Keep on with the marvelous job, and maybe within a few months, we will reach the point where I'll be ashamed to call you my son. You may leave, but don't think of approaching your mother." Alpha sat down; his face seemed rock-hard. The man didn't feel like showing any emotions since his son refused to learn from his mistakes.

"Oh, wow, really nice, dad! Now I'm forbidden from seeing the woman who gave birth to me. Why don't you defy me air, water, and food if we go to such extents?" Zane stomped towards the office door, boiling in anger. He had to get out of there, at least for a bit. The thought of running in his wolf form seemed to be good enough, especially if he needed some time on his own.

"Stop acting like a fucking child, Zane! Your mother is struggling with health issues; she doesn't need unnecessary stress on top of everything. For once, stop being the egoistic child and think of others! That small mistake of yours, an attempt to show off your superiority, was nothing but an act of a coward! She is an Omega, yes, but she is a woman! How the fuck would you react if someone would slap your daughter, huh? This pack is my family; it is your mother's and your family- we treat the member as equal. I am the Alpha; all of the wolves below me are my children, and I won't allow anyone to abuse them. Not even my son. Fuck out of the cabinet; you have time till your birthday- decide what you are going to do to change. If you don't drop the attitude, I'm stripping you the rights as soon as you turn eighteen. End of discussion."
The Alpha turned around, looking out of the office window and waiting for Zane to leave. Everyone knew that as soon as Alpha turned their back to them- there was nothing left to talk about or do.

The young man left, angrily slamming the door closed behind him. Zane cursed the world under his breath as he stomped to his room, locking himself in. He needed a shower- ice cold.

For the rest of the day, Zane didn't leave his room. He kept thinking about the day when everything went downhill. As much as he tried- Zane couldn't decide which day was worse. Meeting Camilla for the first time or the day when he raised a hand at her.
If Zane wouldn't run into the Omega, maybe things wouldn't go as they did, possibly his life would be the same as usual.
The overthinking led the young man to have a massive headache; he needed a distraction. Any other day Zane would call Kaiden and offer to play some video games, but the idea didn't seem appealing now. The possibility of inviting a girl over and having a quick fuck didn't seem any better than having Kaiden around.
After a while, he decided to call Blake. Even though Zane didn't know the guy for a long time- they were in this shit together. Blake didn't make Zane feel bad about what happened and didn't even think about blaming him.

After mind-linking his new friend, Blake received a message saying that he would be over within twenty minutes. Apparently, the guy had a surprise for Zane.

Since the young male refused to leave his room, one of the Omegas had to lead Blake to him. Thankfully the guy seemed to be the same as Zane, despite being Omega himself- he hated most of the rank wolves.

"How are you hanging, dude?" Blake questioned Zane as he sat on the enormous bed, dropping his book bag on the carpeted floor.

"Like shit, man. How's school?" Zane chuckled, feeling oddly good about the unexpected days off from the torture house.

"Same old, same old. If you're interested in Camilla- she isn't attending school anymore. The school's secretary told me that she is under home arrest until the needed paperwork will be gathered and signed. Speaking of which- that's the part of my surprise." Blake reached into his bag and took a black box out of it. He stood up and placed the box on Zane's desk: "open this after I'm gone. You can thank me later."

They spoke for a couple of hours, watched some gameplay videos, and tried to act as naturally as possible. Zane enjoyed the moment off of the problems, feeling like himself once again. Blake had to leave before dinner; his mother kept bugging him to hurry up. Zane laughed and offered Blake to come over whenever he wanted before walking him to the exit. He closed the door, and one of the servants approached him, announcing that the dinner was ready and would be served soon. To avoid being anywhere near his parents- Zane ate in the kitchen and left before his parents arrived in the living room.

Zane got back to his room and locked himself in again. He didn't need his father or mother getting in uninvited, whining about his absence during the dinner. The young male sat on his bed and looked around his room when his eyes fell on the black box. He stood up, walked in front of the desk, and opened the gift.

"A diary?" Zane whispered, a chuckle of amusement leaving his parted lips.
