.26. I have a plan.
"No!" Aiden yelled from the back of the rogue crowd. He and Camilla had never had any conversations about her wolf; whenever the topic was brought up, she did everything to avoid it. Aiden assumed that she wasn't too big or probably an Omega wolf was too weak to shift. His thoughts came to a halt when he watched what happened from the side.
The human form, whoever had the control over it- backed away. Aiden was ready to jump into the fight, ensuring that Camilla would be safe, but he didn't need to. Along with the vicious growls of the rogues came another- deep and powerful enough to shake the whole house. After a moment, Aiden understood that the growl belonged to the woman. She ran forward and jumped up, shifting mid-air. He gasped in shock, never in his whole life had he seen someone capable of changing like that. It took a lot of strength to shift between human and wolf forms, but for her, it happened in seconds, without any problems. He had never seen her turning into the wolf, but watching her now was the same as watching someone who did that every second of the day.
The wolf was stunning- silver/red fur made him shiver. Aiden finally understood that seemingly weak Omega was one of the last full-blood Blood Warrior. She was much more than anyone around there thought. The male watched how she attacked rogues, each of her movements cleaner than one of a trained warrior. The wolf didn't wait for rogues to attack first- she took the moment of their surprise and started the fight. Of course, he got to witness how nature made killer was protecting her home. Howls of pain followed one after another, while Camilla's backyard was turned into a bloodbath.
She fought off the majority of rogues while Aiden couldn't get back to his senses. The few left tried to escape her- running into the woods. The wolf shifted back into a human, but the eyes never changed. She stood with her head held high, ignoring the fact that she was naked.
"You coming, pussy?" She growled and turned towards the forest. Quickly, she looked over her shoulder and smirked at Aiden, shifting into the beast once again. He felt like frozen on the spot. Aiden wanted to follow her, to make sure that she was alright, but all he could do was watch her disappear within the trees.
Only when he overheard multiple footsteps, he got back to his senses. Zane and Beta Kaiden ran to him, looking around the scene frantically. Zane grabbed Aiden by the collar of his shirt and yelled straight into the male's face: "Where the fuck is she? What did you do?" The Alpha's eyes turned to the same deep red as he saw on Camilla when he arrived. Aiden's facial expression was unreadable, but he didn't feel threatened by the Alpha.
"Where the fuck is she? Answer me!" Zane snarled again, letting go of the male and pushing him onto the blood-covered grass.
"If you're talking about Camilla- I have no idea. If you're talking about her fucking wolf- she ran after the rogues as soon as they decided to retreat." Aiden placed a hand over his heart, wondering if the view was reality or was it just a part of his wild imagination. How could she hide something as grand as that? Camilla wouldn't have to worry about bullies or the low rank if anyone around there knew that she was Blood Warrior, not an Omega. She was stronger than most parts of the pack; even the majority of strongest warriors were a mix between their pack members and outsiders.
"The fuck you mean? Her wolf? She can fucking shift, and I didn't know that? Is this a fucking joke? Look around here; there's no way she's responsible for the blood bath. She is weak; I have to protect her! Where is she? I swear to God if something happens to her, I'll snap your neck within seconds!" Zane grabbed the sides of his head, pulling on his hair. The Alpha's eyes scanned his surrounding, desperately looking for the mate he rejected.
Zane's wolf acted like a reckless madman since the moment rogues left the forest line. Alpha thought that the attackers decided to fall back- understanding that the pack was too strong for them to handle. But his wolf kept yelling that his mate was in danger. Despite Zane's rejection- both wolves didn't reject each other. They didn't even talk. When he overheard the screams and moved closer to Camilla's house- he caught on a scent of blood. Not any other blood- it was Camilla's. The thing which sent him overdrive was sounds- snarls, growls, and screams coming from there.
Zane never expected to see Aiden so stunned, just watching the view in front of him. There was no way that Camilla was genuinely responsible for the killings there. Looking around, he could count at least eleven dead rogues- how a weak Omega managed to kill all those? There must be a catch there. Or the man who was following his mate was lying.
"Kaiden, you go to the North, I'll move to the eastern border. Mind-link me if you find her. And you," Zane turned towards Aiden, pointing the finger at him. "You stay here!"
He shifted into his black wolf and took off, leaving Aiden smirking. The male noticed how there are none red spots on the fur of his wolf, meaning that the high Alpha was mixed himself. Oh, the surprise he's in for might leave the male stunned.
"Any idea where is she?" Beta approached Aiden, hoping that the male might give him any information. He was forced to look for Camilla anyway; it was an order from his Alpha.
Aiden faced the Beta and shrugged his shoulders before daring to speak up. "She ran into the woods, probably crossed the border by now. Honestly, I don't understand why Alpha is so obsessed suddenly, he rejected her, didn't he? Even more- Camilla is a rogue in this pack; she didn't get a chance to follow the plan she had with Zane's dad. You're a reasonable person; maybe you can answer my questions?"
"Man..." Kaiden sighed, massaging his temples. When the topic came to Zane, there was no right or wrong answer. "Listen, he's a pretty complicated man, okay? I heard that she rejected him, but she didn't accept the rejection, so now he will be drawn to Camilla for a while. Or till the day when she accepts his rejection. He has a huge problem with his fucking pride- always trying to prove that he is better and stronger than others. Most of the time, I don't listen to him, and I am his best friend. Just don't mind him and keep away from Omega until he calms down. Or at least until she leaves, okay? Thanks for the help, bud." Kaiden smiled and ran off towards the direction where Aiden was pointing. He didn't want to be one who finds Camilla, especially if she let the wolf take complete control. When things like that happened- most of the pack members ended up dead. Not because of the rogues, but because of the leaders. Some can't gain the control back, their primal side wouldn't back off, and Alpha has no other choice than to kill the beast.
Time by time, Zane kept mind-linking Kaiden. Alpha was moving around the territory in insane speed, checking all places possible. Beta, on the other hand, couldn't understand why Zane had to do this. Feelings- those weren't half as strong as they are after meeting a mate for the first time in life. Kaiden would prefer if Camilla had a chance to leave- for both her and Zane. It would be easier for his best friend to focus on work and for the she-wolf to get over the rejection. It didn't seem as she was dealing any good so far, especially after the rage outburst in her backyard. How could a woman do so much damage in such a short period of time, anyway? Was it really her? Or was it someone who made sure to leave way before Zane and Kaiden reached her house? There were a couple of words spinning in his mind- Omega, woman, blood, and rogues.
It didn't matter how much he tried to come up with a decent scenario- nothing seemed to be the truth. Kaiden shook his head and stopped. His nostrils flared, catching a slight glimpse of Camilla's scent. The young man decided to check if she was anywhere near before mind-linking Zane. If Alpha would find out that there was a faint scent of his unwanted mate around- he would lose it and run straight to the spot.
Kaiden looked around and sniffed the air again. His face turned to his right, where the scent seemed to be the strongest. He wasn't as far as he thought. The male stepped towards the cause of smell cautiously, making sure to act as quiet as he could. Despite his strength, Kaiden still risked a lot- an outraged shift was dangerous for the shifter and the whole pack. Some never came back from experience, not only because of the possibility of being killed but also because some wolves ran off.
The view in front of him made Kaiden gasp. Camilla laid on the forest soil, completely naked, covered in blood which wasn't hers. Wherever the rogue bodies were- none was visible around the closest surroundings.
"Camilla? Are you okay?" Kaiden asked, carefully moving closer.
The woman opened her eyes and grinned. Her orbs are still blood-red, the grin widening into a type of a mad person. Kaiden felt a wave of shivers traveling down his spine. Whatever happened to her wasn't good- she looked like she had lost her mind.
"Camilla?" He called out again, gulping loudly and stopping a few feet before her.
"She's busy, resting. Either way, she's not available, would you like to leave a message?" The woman stood up, tilting her head aside as only a wolf could do. Kaiden understood that his suspicions turned out to be the truth.
"Could you please give her the control back? Alpha is looking for her everywhere; I'm afraid that he might lose it if he finds you like this here. I mean naked and covered in blood," Kaiden averted his gaze. The male could admit that she had a nice body, but Zane would kill him if he found out that Kaiden had seen it even a bit.
"Interesting, is it, by any means, the same Alpha who rejected my human, huh?" Eden snarled, feeling how the anger built back yet again. She hoped that the rage would disappear after killing a couple of rogues, but mentioning Alpha just worsened the situation.
"What's your name? If that's not too much to ask." Kaiden turned out to be a rather polite person, making Eden smile. She liked it if men acted like decent human beings instead of being animals.
"You can call me daddy," She winked, bursting out in laughter. To her surprise, so did Kaiden, the wolf didn't expect him to get the joke. But he did, and that made her like the weird-looking male even more. "Eden, my name is Eden. What about you, Beta wolf?"
"I'm Kaiden, but you can call me Kai- it's a friend thing. Anyway, can I ask you something?" The male smiled, showing off his million-dollar smile. Eden felt like she could trust this wolf; deep down, he was a rebel, same as her.
"Go for it." She urged the male, getting a little curious about whatever he wanted to ask. Nobody, besides Camilla, ever asked her questions. Eden liked to answer those, but she absolutely hated asking them.
"Why are your eyes so red? I haven't seen such eye color on Omegas ever again. Is it natural?" Kaiden scratched the back of his neck, blushing a light pink. Only after the male asked his question, he understood how weird he sounded.
"You're a funny one; I like you. Think- would a wolf have time for stupid contact lenses to fake their eye color? No, I don't think so. As to the answer you were looking for- I'm not mixed." Eden stated with pride. That was, indeed, a thing to be proud of. Most of the shifter population was mixed, finding someone with full blood from one pack was difficult, if not nearly impossible. Camilla wouldn't accept it when Eden said that they were a rarity.
"No, shit! Can you show me, please? I haven't seen someone who isn't mixed in this pack yet. Thought that no one was left." The male almost started jumping up and down in excitement. He was about to witness a once in a lifetime thing to happen- even his parents would be jealous of him.
"Sure thing. Don't touch me, though, if you're willing to use your hands ever again. Camilla might be nice, but I am not." Eden winked and shifted on the spot. She let Kaiden stare at her for a couple of minutes and turned back to her human form. The male took off his hoodie and handed it to the nude woman with his eyes squeezed shut.
Eden thanked him and accepted the piece of clothing. Camilla was as shocked as her wolf was- wondering why Zane's best friend was so nice to them. Didn't he hate Camilla as much Alpha did?
"It was nice to talk to you, Beta Kaiden, maybe some other time we shall meet again. You wanted to talk to my human- I'll grant your wish. Just... Keep in mind that if I feel like she's in any, and I mean it- ANY danger, I'm coming out. Feel free to be an idiot and end up like those rogues near the borders. Ah, how I love a good game of a fucking chase," She smirked, and the red eyes disappeared.
It was visible that Camilla was in control since her head hung low. Her wolf was so dominant, so confident, and strong- everything that Camilla wasn't. Probably that's why they fit together so perfectly.
"We don't have much time, Zane's out there, looking for you as a psychopath. He won't stop. Do you think that you could face him?" Kaiden approached Camilla, grabbing her wrists.
She shook her head no, still looking down to her feet.
"Alright, I have a plan."
