.14. Here you are; finally, I found you!
Someone kept knocking aggressively on the main door, waking Camilla up. She fell asleep on the living room sofa, waiting for anyone in charge to visit her. Alpha-to-be and her were both put under a home arrest to ensure that Zane won't attempt to meet her.
Up to this day, nobody could find out why the young man targeted her. Camilla stretched her sore limbs and rolled off the sofa, lazily nearing the door.
"Who is there?" She decided to follow the Alpha's commands- avoiding letting inside anyone who she didn't invite. As a rogue, she was in great danger; the packs didn't take outsiders kindly. Especially if one of their own decides to become the outsider out of their free will.
"Alpha Snow," the deep voice rumbled from the other side of the door. The pack's leader didn't sound pleased or in a good mood, making Camilla feel cold shivers traveling down her spine.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Camilla hurried to unlock the door and opened it wide, stepping aside. She switched weight from leg to leg, the atmosphere growing tense: "please, come in."
"Thank you." The enormous male had to bed in the knees to get inside of her house. Everyone knew that Alpha Snow was one of the tallest Alphas out there, Zane being nearly as tall as he is.
Even in any public events, whoever joined those knew that the large man with the silver hair had to be Alpha Snow. The Blood Warriors was a well-respected pack, mainly because of the leader.
He sat on the sofa where Camilla just had a random nap and cleared his throat. Alpha eyed her and nodded towards the free space next to him. Camilla sat down, looking at her hands, nervously nibbling her nails.
"We have a problem," Alpha wasn't known to be a person who sugar-coated things. When he had something on his mind- he didn't have time to bother about beating around the bush or giving out hints. If he was taking the time out of his day to deliver the information personally- it had to be something extremely important.
"What kind of problem? Am I leaving sooner than the paperwork stated?" Camilla raised an eyebrow, unsure would she like to leave faster than she thought. Despite being so eager to leave the nightmare, she did have a couple of things to do beforehand. She couldn't find a strength in herself to visit the graveyard. The young woman wanted to set things straight between her and Blake before she leaves. Camilla hoped to leave the negativity behind, to start from a new page, but for that, there were some things to do.
"No, quite the opposite. You see, I might be an Alpha, but there are still many other wolves above me. The council, for example. I have to face many legal problems- piles of paperwork and explainings to give, for example. I have to postpone the date for an uncertain period of time. My mate and I will keep providing the security, might send someone to tutor you at home so you won't lose any more time for your education. My son will return to school tomorrow, so we can't let you go for safety purposes. I know this is a lot to take in, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but that's how things work. I can't fight against the council members since they don't look kindly over someone leaving my pack. Especially knowing how young the shifter is. Camilla, I'm sorry, but I really can't do anything about the situation for now." Alpha shook his head in disappointment. He didn't want to see her leaving, but as a leader, he wanted nothing but the best for his pack members. If Camilla truly wanted to leave his pack, he would deal with the paperwork, council, and everyone in his way to help the young woman.
"I guess that's okay. As long as I can stick around here till the day when I can leave." Camilla shrugged her shoulders. She didn't want to feel bad about things she couldn't change, nor she wanted to disappoint the Alpha. Her mother always reminded Camilla that life is unpredictable, things happen, but that doesn't mean that the time stops.
"For now, I can offer you to build the pack ties back again. I don't think that the council will give out a verdict by the end of your two weeks. If we want to keep you safe- we will have to do things to follow the law. You will not be obligated to do anything against your will. As mentioned- we will do homeschooling and leave the security active around your house. If you need to go for groceries or any other place- you can ask someone to do it or take you to the required locations. For the time being, we will treat you like our high valued guests. I hope this is a decent solution because I truly can't come up with anything other than this. I still have a pack to lead, and my son is getting out of control. My mate supports the plan; she thinks that keeping the two of you apart is the best decision."
"Alright, we can build up the ties again, but only till the moment when I can leave. Don't misunderstand me, please, but I really have to get out of here. It's not about Luna or you, or the way the pack system works. Being a part of the Blood Warriors is fantastic, but some wolves don't fit specific standards. I am one of those who doesn't fit in. My life, despite everything, has been amazing, and you're one of the reasons why it's more positive than other wolves. I've lost too much to hold onto values that remind me of pain.
Alpha Snow, I'd like to see my parents for the last time, and from there, I rather stay locked in here until I can leave. Is it possible to renew the pack ties without a huge amount of pack members around? Or maybe do it here?" Camilla bit onto her lip nervously, deep down wondering would she offend the Alpha in any way.
The man was doing so much for her, yet she couldn't make herself stay. Of course, the annoying voice in her mind kept whining about a lot of things. It nearly screamed that this might be a trap to leave her around for good, but Camilla tried to ignore the voice as much as she could.
"We can arrange that. Would you like to go to the graveyard first?" Alpha let out a deep breath. The male felt relieved after the conversation went so smoothly. The tense atmosphere faded, soon replaced by both of them cracking jokes and laughing. She forgot about his question faster than they noticed- as much as Camilla wanted to go, she didn't feel like it was the right time yet.
The Alpha could feel how his son kept trying to get a hold of him but decided to ignore Zane rather than leaving Camilla on her own. He took the whole day off to spend it with the young woman. Luna couldn't get herself to look into Camilla's eyes after what her son did.
"I should take a shower," Camilla groaned, taking a glance at her phone. The time flew unnoticed, and if she wanted to go anywhere- she had to hurry. The young woman smiled at Alpha, unable to find the right words to show her gratitude: "if I want to get some flowers for them, I really should hurry up. Thank you for everything," Camilla hugged the Alpha shyly. She felt too emotional; any moment, the young woman could cry, but for her tears was a sign of weakness. She swore to herself that she wouldn't cry for no one ever again. Even if those were happy tears- there would be none.
"You do you; I should get back to work anyway. I tried to get a full day off, but that's quite impossible for Alphas. I'll get one of the guards to drive to the flower shop and get the bouquets. Do you have any idea which flowers and what color you want? After he's back, he will take you to the graveyard. Just take your time and relax a little, everything will be alright." Alpha stood up and smiled at Camilla. He could see all the right reasons why his mate loved the girl as much as she did. The girl would be a perfect child for any parent- truly simple and kind soul.
"White roses, if possible. My mother loved roses, and my father learned to love them nearly as much as she did. They used to give me white ones, saying that I was their angel. Mom always bubbled about how they often represent purity, innocence, and youthfulness. Dad said that they symbolize a new beginning and everlasting love. They wanted to see white roses in my wedding bouquet, but yeah... Anyway, that's too much information; I'll go take that shower and thanks again," Camilla rushed upstairs, closing the door and leaning against it. She was as close to bursting out in tears as never.
Somehow she found herself telling the Alpha such details about her parents that she never said to anyone before.
Camilla covered her face with her palms and let the tears escape. She wanted to be strong and seem unshakable in others' eyes, but breaking down behind a closed-door was something she could afford. As long as no one saw her crying. Each tear escaping her eyes represented seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks of grieving. The young woman knew that her parents weren't the only reason behind the tears- her everyday life seemed to be partly to blame. All she wanted was to fit in, to live among others, and reach her dreams. She never dreamed of being the popular or extremely likable type of person; all she wanted was to be someone between everyone.
Camilla wiped her tears and headed to the bathroom. An ice-cold shower helped her to get back to her senses and calm down. She didn't like using makeup, and straightening her hair was just another waste of time. She blow-dried her curls and let them fall over her shoulders. The choice of clothing- everything black. Camilla used to love happy colors, especially yellow, but in time everything changed. Going to the graveyard in yellow appeared to be an outrageous idea.
She grabbed her bag, threw a wallet and phone in it- just in case, and headed downstairs. For a while, she struggled to find the classy looking black heels; her mom gave Camilla a while before her death. She hid them in the hope that she wouldn't have to wear the heels, but today Camilla felt like dressing up for the occasion.
The young woman slid on the shoes and sat down on the sofa, waiting for a doorbell.
After fifteen minutes, the guard arrived with two beautiful white rose bouquets. He held Camilla's hand, seeing how the girl struggled to walk in the heels. During the car drive, both of them joked around to avoid uncomfortable silence.
"Should I walk you there?" The guard asked, parking his car near to the graveyard. Camilla smiled but shook her head. It was a nice gesture from the man, yet she had to do this on her own.
"Are you sure?" He asked again, getting out of the car and walking around it to open the passenger seat door.
"Absolutely sure. I hope the heels won't kill me, but I really have to do this on my own. I haven't been here since the funeral; my parents deserve some alone time with their daughter. Can I leave my things here, please? I don't want to drop the beautiful flowers," Camilla smiled, gladly placing her hand in his and getting out of the car. Deep down, she hoped that her mate might be as gentle and understanding as this guard was.
He took the flowers out of the car and handed them to Camilla. He didn't ask more questions and didn't offer to accompany her anymore, either. He just looked down at her and smiled.
"I'll be here, waiting for you then." The male winked and sat back in the car. She almost choked on her saliva after noticing the cheeky grin on his face. Camilla stood frozen on the spot, shock written all over her face. The male saw her reaction and opened the car door, leaning half body out of it and whisper-yelled: "Hurry up, or I won't have time to take you out for dinner. I can't let my opportunity go."
Camilla shook her head and rushed away from the car. She smiled like an idiot as she walked closer to the dreaded place. For some reason, the young woman felt good- the handsome guard might like her.
Within a couple of minutes, she found the place where her parents were buried. Carefully, Camilla placed the beautiful bouquets on the graves and dropped on her knees. She kept quiet for a while, thinking that there were no more tears left to cry.
"Mom, dad..." her voice cracked, she was wrong about the tears as they streamed down her cheeks like wild waterfalls.
"I miss you guys," Camilla hiccuped as she spoke. She had a lot of things to say, a lot of unspoken truths and unanswered questions, but all she could do was cry.
"Here you are; finally, I found you!"
