Chapter Forty-seven
Chapter Forty-seven
"That would never fucking happen!" And then I stood up from my seat. I was about to leave the dining area when Lola spoke.
"This wouldn't have happened if you had listened to me in the first place! I told you to break up with Lenita, because you are already my wife!" I sighed and didn't speak back on her. Lola is right, I had all the chance to make everything right the first time but I didn't do anything.
I went to Joanna's house but I had to knock and call her and her friend's name and nobody came out of the house yet. I also entered the gate and knocked on their door several times but I didn't get any response.
I even tried to push on but it's locked. I also tried to listen to see if it was my person inside but I couldn't hear any noise from inside. I hung around for a few more hours to wait for Joanna's arrival or at least by Katastrophe but it's late afternoon and it's raining and I haven't seen Joanna come back to their house yet.
I tried to call her for a lot of times but I still got no response. My calls just keep on forwarding to voice mails. Damn it! I also tried sending her a few messages. I called my office and asked them about Joanna but I was informed that she did not come to work today. HR office tried calling her for me but she's not responding too.
New day, the same bullshit! I didn't even enter the office to wait for Joanna to come out of their house but it looks like, her friend and she left. She also stopped coming to work.
"What are you doing here?" It was rude to ask Lenita when she suddenly entered the office. I really shouldn't be going to the office right now, just in case Mommy and Daddy have already talked to me, I already have a lot of board meetings that have been skipped and contract signing with the clients and some investors are looking for my presence.
He smiled at me and then continued walking to the front of my table and sat in the visitor's chair. I was about to react again the next time Mommy came in.
"What is the meaning of this Mom?" It's a bit annoying to ask him. She sighs and sits on the opposite chair where Lenita is. He first looked around my office before staring at the papers hanging on my desk, once again he sighed.
"Your wife is your secretary." That's not a question so I didn't bother answering her. "And now she's nowhere to be found, that's why she's doing what she should be doing right now."
"It's nothing I can manage anyway." I didn't want to answer and then I turned my attention back to the document I was reading.
"It does matter of course. Justin, don't you notice? Your work is slowing down, you need a secretary."
"Joanna will be back soon." I answered Mommy emphatically as I was also trying to end the conversation.
"I doubt." Mommy answered me. This time I stopped reading but I still didn't take my eyes off the paper I was holding, my grip tightened on the paper and then my jaws tightened, it seemed to be my idea why he and Lenita were here and before he can still say that I have preceded him.
"I will not take Lenita as my secretary. Joanna will be back soon, anyway and I don't want to repeat myself Mom. You two can go now, I still have lots of work to do."
A month later.
I was left with no f ucking choice but to accept Lenita as my secretary for the mean time. No matter what I told Mommy that I don't need one, the next day Lenita still came to the office and did her work on Joanna's table.
I told her to leave but her head was really stubborn. I actually called the guards and asked them to go on my office to pick out Lenita but they didn't do it! It turned out that Mommy was ahead of me, she ordered the guards not to follow my order if it has to do with Lenita or other Mom, will fire them and have them blocked on all of the security agencies in the country.
I can't go to Joanna's house often anymore if I can go there when I go home at night. I don't know if it's just a co-incidence but my meetings are always early in the morning since Lenita handles my schedules. It alwys starts at six AM then it will end up late at night. Because I missed a lot of meetings with the board and clients in the past weeks I did nothing but wait for Joanna in front of their house. It's been a month, I'm busy again.
My long meditation was interrupted by the sound of the intercom connected to Lenita's table. "What?" There is no emotion if I ask him to answer his call. I don't want to be mean but I just can't help it. I want her to feel that I don't really want her here. Because even though I keep telling him that he should stop the nonsense he is doing as my secretary, his head is still stubborn.
"It's ugly." She said softly but I heard her clearly. I just didn't react. I waited for her to tell me what she needed.
"Dustin Ford is here and he wants to talk to you. Do you what me to send him in or tell him your busy?" Lenita asked me. That's the only thing that's okay with this girl, when it's time to work, she does work, so somehow I can put up with her a month.
Dustin Ford? Is he the same guy who's trying to hit with my wife? Out of curiosity. I asked Lenita to send me the resume of that a sshole who went awol after that incident on the lobby with Joanna and Lenita.
"Okay." Lenita answered me. Since I made it easy, he didn't have to hang up. I heard the sound of her keyboard then seconds later, I received her email. As I read his resume I also asked Lenita to let him in.
So, he is the son of Mr. Ford, Ford Corporation the rival company of Smith House. The door opened and he entered. I smirked when I saw him in.
"Did you just apply here to spy?" There was no emotion when he told her. He grinned at me and then slowly approached my desk and placed the brown envelope he was holding.
"Why? Is Ford Corporation going down? And you guys need to spy on us to make a better marketing strategy?" I asked him teasingly.
"And for your information Ford, you are marked as awol employee for not going at work during your working schedule and not properly resigning. So, you're just wasting your time here, bringing your resume and you also, you give it on the wrong office, HR office is on the tenth floor."
"I am not here to resign, I am here to give that to you, it's from Joanna." He gave me a simple answer and before I could react, he immediately left my office. I clenched my jaw and formed my fist into it a ball. I can even feel my heart beats so d amn that makes me think it wants to go out of my ribcage. I took a deep breath again and again and then I took the brown envelope that he placed on my table and then slowly opened it. It's from Joanna.
Then I remember what Lola told me last time, Joanna wants an annulment. That's why I couldn't touch him for almost a month because he and Dustin were together. For sure! Dustin won't reach me if they don't communicate Joanna. It was violent when I took the contents of the brown envelope and I really held my breath while taking it out of the envelope.
Bullshit! I don't know if I can breathe easy or laugh at my reaction. It was not an annulment paper but a resignation letter from Joanna. Informing me that she no longer wanted to be my secretary. Well, in the first place she's my wife and not just my secretary. I smiled bitterly and crumpled the paper.
I went out of my office to follow Dustin and confront him about Joanna but I can't find him anywhere. I first went to the lobby but the receptionist didn't notice, so I went to the parking lot. I tried to describe him at the guard on duty but he's not sure if he already went out since his car's window is tinted.
I sighed. Why should I go to Ford Corporation just to find Joanna with him? Damn it! So, instead of going back to my office I went straight to my car and drove back to that cheap bar where I drunk c2gin.
