Chapter 11- More Answers
“Of course!” Yelled both Rose and Clay at the same time. “Why did I think of that?”
Rose hung her head as if ashamed that she didn’t even think to look in this ancient text. I touched her arm. “Rose, all of this is big news to us. I am thankful for your help in this journey though.” She gave me a big hug.
“I will work on finding the maps and the book. You two go and figure out this mating business. We can’t have you not knowing your wolf on this journey.” With that Rose threw her bowl in the sink and left out the doors.
“Mary could I actually talk with you.” I looked at her, not really knowing what I wanted to ask but knowing she would give me the answers.
“Of course sweetheart.” Mary took me by the hand. “Clay I will have her right back to you.” Clay nodded as he picked up the dishes we had just left behind. As we left the kitchen and were in another garden by a large tree that looked like a mix of a cherry blossom and a willow, we sat down and took a moment to let nature surround me. I needed to think of what I really wanted to ask Mary.
“Mary I am scared.” I finally started out with that. I didn’t have a chance to tell anyone this and going from a coffee getter working at a lab to a supernatural being going to save the world in mere hours had been a lot to simply grasp.
“Oh dear I know it is scary. But this is what you were made for. The strength you will find on this journey will help determine who you are and who you are meant to be. You are meant to be so much and you will find it. However, you will need Clay. He will give you some of the strength you will need to get through.” She looked out towards the field. ”Not the strength of muscles but of courage and growth.”
“Everyone keeps talking about this mate bond and I feel it with Clay. I do. But how do I feel so strongly about someone I just met this morning?” I look at her warily.
“I had a mate once.” How Mary said it made me see the sadness in her eyes, “The bond was great. We were so in love. I remember the first day I met him. He was walking across the field full of confidence. I smelled him. He met my eyes and came running over to me. He looked at me and said Mate. I looked at him and said nope.” She giggled at the memory.
“He was in shock. I told him he had to earn it a bit. Really he was just oozing overconfidence and I don’t think anyone ever said no to him before me. I wanted to make sure he knew I wasn’t going to be easy for him.” She winked at me. “At that moment he asked me to go for a walk. I decided to let him have that since he was my mate after all. He walked me to this very tree. It is called a willow blossom. He told me I was stronger than this tree that had been here for thousands of years and he would be honored to be able to care for something so strong. My heart melted. That evening we mated. It was magical and my heart belonged to him forever.” Mary stared out lost in her memories.
“What happened?” I asked quietly.
Mary looked at me, sadness consuming her eyes, “the dark witches found out that we were hiding something precious and they killed him and all the other wolves with him.” I gasped with my hand over my mouth something deep inside telling me that I was the precious thing they were hiding.
“Im so sorry Mary.” I hugged her.
“Now now dear. Stop your crying. He knew what he was doing. We all did. We all do. We protect one another. We love one another. Now I know your nervous about the mating stuff. But really it is every bit as wonderful as you could imagine.” She said gripping my arms and looking me in the eye. I look back at her and nod.
“Ok. I can do this. All I have to do is bite him?” I looked at Mary in confusion. She was rolling on the ground where we were seated laughing. I didn’t understand why she thought this was so funny.
“Oh my dear. Oh Goddess above. Clay is really in for something!” She continued to roll around laughing. Finally getting herself together enough to speak she looked at me, “Honey, you ‘mate’. Like sex and the bite is just the climax and it is intoxicating.” Now I was blushing feeling my whole body heat up inside.
A silent, “oh” was all I could muster. No wonder Clay was so hesitant about making me. Oh this world was going to be quite an adventure, at least I would be able to have some fun.
Mary and I walked back inside, as soon as I saw Clay I started blushing.
He looked at me with a smile and I instantly felt my body heat up to this stare. My nipples getting hard against my shirt and my core heating at the thought of Clay’s hands through my hair. Mary leaned over, “Just so you know, wolves have an excellent sense of smell. We can smell arousal.”
I instantly got even redder, if that was even possible. “Now I need to leave but you two have fun!”
“Bye Mary.” I was still staring at Clay as his eyes scanned over my body.
“Did Mary answer your questions?” Clay asked him as he walked over to me. He wrapped his arm around me bringing me in close to him.
“Yes, I think she did.” I nodded.
“What do you think of what she told you?” Clay backed up a bit so I could look him in the eyes.
“I think that I am pretty excited for this whole mating thing.”
Clay growled and picked me up. “Clay what are you doing?” I whispered to him.
“Love, you can not come in smelling like that, tell me you want to mate and not expect me to take you to do just that!” Clay seemed exasperated. I could sense his turmoil of deciding what was right.
“Oh ok.” I said simply. “Clay, I have never, well you know I have never,” I was unable to finish my sentence.
“Oh you are all mine love.” Clay growled. He seemed to appreciate that I was a virgin and that I would forever be only his.
