Chapter 18- The Library

“I know you do. Let me sum it up so I can answer most of them right away.” I said to Rose. She seemed content with this answer. I was not going to go into details with her about everything because I felt like she did not need to know every detail right this second.

“You already know that your brother and I mated. I met my wolf. Her name is Lilliana.”

“And she is beautiful and fast!” Clay interrupted. “You should see her Rose. I have never seen such a fast wolf before.” I could tell he was impressed and proud.

“Well in her human form she is fast so that does not surprise me.” Rose said.

“The her you are talking about is right here.” I laughed and fake scolded.

“Oh sorry Grace, go ahead.” Rose said and listened intently.

“My wolf is part of the moon goddess. And the legend is real. She told us to start in the alpha books and follow nature. She can not help us know how to fulfil the prophecy. She created it but not the fulfillment of it. That was nature.” I finished telling Rose what I thought was all the main points of the story.

“You are telling me that the moon goddess is your wolf?” Rose looked a bit taken aback.

“I am telling you that my wolf is part moon goddess. I am a descendent of the Moon goddess. It gets rather confusing Rose.” I said with a sigh finally giving up on trying to really explain what I was trying to say to her.

“Wow.” For once in my life my best friend was absolutely speechless.

“Yea.” I sat there looking straight ahead. Now that there was a moment to fully digest everything it seemed like a pretty big deal.

“What now?” Rose said, after a few moments of all three of us just looking out into our own daydream.

“Well, we are going to research some this morning. And then we are headed down to the training grounds to help her train.” Clay replied.

“Gracie and researching. You expect her to just walk away from books?” I laughed. My best friend knew me far too well.

“We have a deal.” Clay said with a wink in my direction.

“Yes, I promised we would do the training after lunch.” I confirmed.

“Well, Grace always keeps her promises so there is that.” Rose stated matter-of-factly. It felt so good to not be alone. Having Rose and Clay with me I felt complete, and it was a feeling I hadn’t felt in a very long time.

“Rose did you find anything in the maps or books yesterday?” Clay asked and I vaguely remember her saying that she was going to look.

“I found the dragons lair on the maps. It is about a month-long journey to get there. I found the legend in the Alpha books I will show it to you and see what you can make from it.” Rose and Clay were now just sipping their coffee. I was busy thinking about how Rose said it would take a month. A month by foot? A month by car? Why would it take so long?

“In fear of making myself look naïve, why is it a month journey?” I finally asked them. They both looked at me like I had two heads and then almost as if they just realized it had only been a day since I discovered all of this they giggled.

“The supernatural world is not all on earth. We live on earth as well as the dark witches. However, the fairies, dragons, mermaids, they all live in worlds connected to earth. We will have to pass through them to get to the dragons.” Clay explained all of this patiently.

Rose continued for him realizing that I still had questions, “We get to those worlds by using the good witches we have here. They make simple keys that will help transport us to where we need to go.”

“Wow, so it is on foot, kind of.” I said. This was going to be quite a journey.

“Izzy, is a good witch. She will be joining us on our journey and helping us get to each world.” Clay replied. I was happy to hear this as I really liked her and her spunky attitude.

“Awesome. Are you guys done with your coffee? I want to see these books!”

“Yes.” Clay sighed, “ I still cant believe you don’t like coffee. Like just do not like it?”

“Clay, I have been working on her for years. The girl hates the stuff. I have even tried adding sugar and milk. She just can not do it.” Rose interrupted. She truly had been trying for years to get me to drink the stuff. I just could not get past the smell. Plus, I did not really need caffeine.

“Alright. Fine then.” Clay sounded so defeated at this news. We walked quietly to the library. It was amazing how large this house was. I would get lost in here if I was by myself. They led me to a gigantic door and pulled it open. This moment reminded me of the movie beauty and the beast when he opens the door and there is just a giant room completely filled with books. It was the scene that unfolded before me.

“You are never going to get her out of here.” Rose said in a completely serious tone.

“This is amazing.” I stood in the middle of the room in complete awe of what was around me. Floor to ceiling was filled with books on all four walls, a piano sat in the corner and comfortable chairs were set all about the room. If I could have created my own heaven this is a version of it.

“We lost her.” Clay said finally, he was laughing at my amazement, but I didn’t care. I was so blown away by this.

“Alright then, we need to get started. Over here are all the alpha books I have found throughout the generations. We will have to read through them and see what we can find and then compare notes.” Rose said. When Rose had a task, she was the best at forming a plan to get it done.

“What are the alpha books for?” I asked needing to know the layout and reason why there were so many in front of me.

“Each Alpha for his term, writes a book about information he has learned that would be useful to further generations. Almost as if a historical document.” Clay answered my question.

“They are journals.” I answered.

“Yes, journals of their time as Alphas.” Rose replied. This was going to be a great was for me to learn more about the wolves and everything that has happened to them and their way of life. I was even more excited to begin reading them.

“I think the best way is to try to begin with the oldest books and go from there. Each one of us will take one and read.” I was excited to begin but as much as I wanted to read all of them, I knew I couldn’t. I had to find one and read it through completely. There were too many here to just read alone. I promised myself one day I would do just that.
