Chapter 15- Dreams
When we got back to the house we went straight back to my room and got dressed. Grace was certainly hungry as she quickly got dressed and grabbed my hand to head to the kitchen. I could smell the leftovers from dinner in air. Gracie looked at me and licked her lips.
“That smells absolutely amazing!” Gracie said with a huge smile on her face. “Steak, potatoes, and broccoli?” She looked at me with a questioning look. She was testing out her scent abilities.
“Yes Gracie. You did good.” My stomach at this point was rumbling. Between the sex and the run, I had worked up an appetite as well. This was also the first change for Gracie so I knew she must be starving. When we reached the kitchen, it was empty and I went and found some of the leftovers for us in the fridge. I went to work warming them up.
“You really know your way around the kitchen.” Gracie said to me as she jumped up to sit on the counter.
“Yes, boiling pasta and working a microwave. My abilities are truly outstanding!” I teased back as I stood in between her legs and kissed the tip of her nose.
The microwave beeped and I served our food. Gracie ate hers in about two minutes flat. I was done in about 3. We laughed at how hungry we had been. Gracie got up and headed for the cookie jar and pulled out 4 chocolate chip cookies.
“Now for dessert.” Gracie said handing me two of them. She took a giant bite and looked at me as though she had fallen in love,” These are the best cookies I have ever had in my life!”
“Yes. Our cook is actually very good in the kitchen. Now he really knows his way around here.” I said. The cook was also one of my best friends. His dad had been the cook before him and so we had played together growing up around this big house.
“So that is why you can boil water?” Gracie mocked me laughing so hard she almost fell out of her chair.
Just then we heard voices coming down the hall. They did not sound very happy, and I grabbed Gracie’s hand. I pulled her into the pantry closet with me.
“Did you hear they found that stupid golden wolf?” The tall man said. I had never seen either one of these men before. I am not sure why they were in my house or how they got here. I sniffed the air. They were certainly wolves, but not from our pack.
“Yea. I heard she is a real looker too.” The other man said. He looked to be a bit shorter but all muscle. The way he stated that with such disrespect and lust made me want to bust out the door and beat him to the ground.
However, I did not know why they were here and the way they were just roaming around my house gave me the knowledge they were probably ambassadors from another pack. My dad probably had called a meeting to confirm that we had the golden wolf and that the other packs should assist in whatever we needed to do.
“I certainly did. Wouldn’t mind a turn with her. Do you think they actually knew where she was the whole time?” The anger in me was overflowing.
“Eh… probably. Seems unlikely that as soon as random packs get attacked that she just magically shows up. You know all about to be our hope or something.” He said it so sarcastically.
I was still stuck on the fact that random packs were getting attacked. Attacked by who? My questions were growing as we waited. I could tell Gracie was holding her breath and that she was struggling the same way I was. I decided to mind link her then.
*“These guys are not from our pack. I do not know who they are.”* I assured her, I did not want her thinking that her pack, her new family would talk about her this way.
*“I could tell, I could feel your anger. I figured if you knew them, they would be a bloody mess by now.*” I could hear her giggle through the mind link.
“*You are correct. I want to know what they mean about the pack attacks. We did not know anything about that.” *
*“It does seem weird. Maybe Ashley attacked them after I ran thinking she could get away with it.”* Her idea did seem to make sense but on the other hand Ashley would probably be freaking out about how they lost the golden wolf. This sounds like it was planned out not last minute.
*“Maybe.*” I answered. I wanted to keep my own thoughts to myself for now until I found out a bit more.
The men grabbed some food from the fridge and then headed away. I heard the short guy say,” Yea it is like she is Luke, and we are trapped in our own Star Wars movie.”
We waited another few minutes as their footsteps disappeared into the night.
I heard Gracie take a deep breath out. “I think I am ready for bed now.” She yawned. I could believe it. Finding out this whole supernatural world is true, you’re the main savior to it and experiencing your first shift that would make even the strongest wolves feel a bit exhausted.
“Let’s get you there then.” I picked her up and carried her.
“I would protest since I know I can walk, but man you feel so good up close.” She snuggled her head into my shoulder and let me carry her back to my room.
When we got to my room, she had already fallen asleep in my arms. It was one of the most peaceful moments I had ever experienced. Just watching her as she had put her complete trust in me. I vowed to myself right then that I would never let her down.
**You got that right! She is our treasure, and we will not let her down**. Alex said as he popped his thoughts into my head.
She certainly is. Did you see her run?
**I saw her run and I saw how magnificent she is. I have never seen a brighter wolf. **
No, neither have I.
**I am glad she is our mate. I like to taste her. **
I enjoy tasting her too. I laughed to myself. She sure did taste amazing.
I got into bed next to her rolling to embrace her as we slept. I could not imagine not being able to touch her at this point.
As soon as my arm wrapped around her I was transported into a dream, or at least I thought it was a dream.
*“Clay! Clay! Run!” Gracie was calling from behind me. The branches were breaking all around us.
*“What is going on Gracie?” I called back to her.
*
“Clay! Run! They are after us.” *
*“Who?” I asked back. I could see the fear on her face. She stopped running for a minute and looked at me curiously.*
*“Actually, I do not know. I just know something, or someone is chasing me, and I am trying to get to the cabin.” *
*“Well stop for a minute. Let’s see if we can see who it is.” I pulled her to the side, and we hid in the bushes. We waited for what seemed like forever, but no one came*.
*“Clay, I do not think anyone is coming. Also, how did you mess with my dream? I have had this dream every night since I turned 21.” I looked at her. The scenery around us was changing. Where there were woods and trees a moment ago the scene was changing to more rocky terrain. Gracie and I looked all around us*.
*“Clay what is going on?” Gracie asked me. *
*“I do not know. I think we are just supposed to watch.” I looked into the rocky scene just as a beautiful woman appeared in front of us. She looked majestic almost as if she was part of the earth itself. Her hair was bright white and hung below her bottom. It was thick and looked like a waterfall falling behind her back. Her skin was pale like moonlight. Her eyes a green color like the most vibrant blades of grass.*
*“I love you so much Antonio.” The beautiful lady said. She sighed and then I noticed she was petting the hair of a wolf next to her. “I just want us to be together.” The wolf nuzzled his nose into her lap.*
*She waved her hand and the wolf in front of us instantly became a man. He had long dark hair and looked like a man who had lived a life outdoors. This made sense since he was actually a wolf. *
*“Oh Lilianna, I love you as well.” I heard the man say. I also realized that it was the same name as Gracie’s wolf. I looked down at her. She nodded. Tears were streaming down her face. *
