Chapter 40 Sofia's Hatred: Damn Elena 2

Third Person Perspective:

"Why would you think that?" Sofia's eyes widened in shock.

She couldn't believe she might have slipped up somewhere; she thought she was being super sneaky.

"Did someone say something?" Sofia pressed.

William didn't hold back; he told her it was Albert who spilled the beans.

'Damn it, what's Albert up to?' Sofia fumed internally.

Hearing William's words, Sofia was livid.

William explained that Albert had told him right after they got back from their competition.

But Sofia couldn't admit it.

She knew exactly why Albert told William. He wanted to see her mess up!

In the whole Garcia family, this sly guy knew her best!

Because he never meddled in her business, she almost forgot about him!

"I was just worried about Marco because he's Albert's friend," Sofia argued.

"Marco always seems so distant, never showing any emotions. Plus, he's Albert's business partner. Not long ago, my dad's business hit some snags, and we had to work hard to fix it. Maybe I'm just paranoid, worried Albert might face the same issues as my dad."

When Sofia brought up business, she noticed William's awkward expression.

William was a bit of a proud guy.

Even though Albert was a playboy, he didn't rely on the Garcia family; he started his own business early on. William always wanted to be friends with him but never managed to.

Facing Marco, who was more handsome and had Albert's respect, made him uneasy.

While Sofia and William were talking, Marco came back to the villa from the beach. He didn't look great and just nodded in greeting.

This made William even more annoyed. Sofia thought she heard him snort.

"Actually, William, I need some time. I can't figure out my own feelings right now," she gently reassured him. "I don't know if my feelings for you are temporary or real because we haven't faced any challenges that could test our relationship."

After Sofia finished, William seemed deep in thought.

His face showed pain and anger. "Isn't there any other way to prove your feelings for me besides challenges?"

"I don't know," Sofia replied.

Sofia pretended to look pitifully at him, leaving the question hanging.

While William was thinking, he glanced towards the beach, and his eyes lit up.

"I've got an idea. Sofia, if your feelings for me are real, would my confession to someone else make you realize your own feelings?" William asked.

Sofia didn't get it at first, so she didn't answer, but she quickly realized this fool didn't need her answer.

He thought he had a brilliant plan to get a clear answer from Sofia and eagerly went downstairs, rushing towards the beach.

When Sofia felt uneasy and started to chase after him, it was already too late.

Sofia could only watch as this fool impulsively confessed to Elena.

The joy in Elena's eyes stung Sofia. She angrily cursed William in her heart. 'William is not a true gentleman. If he were, he wouldn't think of such a nasty way!'

Sofia always knew this, but she didn't care before.

Because William's foolish actions never hurt her, she was always the one benefiting.

But Sofia couldn't accept that William regretted it after using Elena. He then took back his confession.

That might confirm Sofia's suspicion that he indeed had some feelings for Elena, which made him start to care about her and regret because of her reaction.

The fear of losing a suitor hit Sofia, and she gritted her teeth.

She realized she couldn't just stand by; otherwise, she might lose William, who could boost her status.

She needed to find a way to make William see Elena in a worse light, so she started looking for opportunities.

When she learned that everyone would temporarily leave the villa and found out from Elena that it was because Marco's family agent was coming, she thought it was a good chance.

Now, in the basement, Sofia was seething with anger as she spat internally, 'If it weren't for Albert! William should have thought it was Elena who pushed me onto the stair railing!'

Albert saw through her act, ruining her plan, and then Elena messed up another one of her schemes!

That was Sofia's plan all along—to sneak back into the villa and cozy up to Marco once everyone else had left!

Sofia leaned against the cold wall, biting her nails in frustration. 'Damn Elena! That bitch!'

Elena's fake kindness had led them to this point, making it hard for Sofia to accept how foolish she had been to be deceived by Elena.

In the basement, Elena kept trying to get close to Sofia to explain, but Sofia wasn't having it.

Sofia thought her anger needed a target, and that was Elena.

If there was an option to sacrifice Elena in exchange for survival, Sofia would choose it without hesitation!

When the mafia members came back to the basement, Sofia did just that.

"That girl is the daughter of the Garcia family, Albert's sister! As long as she's here, Albert and Marco will definitely come back!" Sofia shouted, drawing the mafia members' attention.

"Sofia!" Elena called out Sofia's name and rushed over.

But Sofia thought Elena was trying to stop her and make her lose her chance to survive, so she pushed Elena away. "Please, let me go, I don't know anything!"

Sofia pleaded, completely ignoring the shocked expression on the fallen Elena's face.

'That fool Elena might be confused about my inconsistency, but it doesn't matter. In the face of survival, those things are irrelevant.' Sofia muttered in her heart.

In fact, if it weren't for this sudden incident, Sofia had planned to reveal her true self to Elena much later, which would have been much more interesting.

If the situation were different, Sofia would have turned back to mock Elena for her long-term foolishness in being deceived by her.

"You can't do that, they won't let you go!" Elena was still shouting in defiance.

Sofia turned a deaf ear to her words, convinced that Elena was lying and that she had found the right way to escape.

Sure enough, the mafia members exchanged glances, then one of them left for a while and came back to take Sofia away.

As she was leaving, Sofia could hardly contain her joy.

She had bet correctly; these mafia members would definitely let her go!

But Sofia was only dragged back to the living room, where a man who looked like the boss sat on the sofa, pressing a gun to her head.

He accurately called out Sofia and Elena's names.

Sofia's body began to tremble again, and she wanted to scream.

"Shut up! Be quiet!" The man slapped Sofia hard.

The pain almost made her pass out, and when she came to her senses, she didn't dare look at the man but cursed Elena in her mind to transfer her hatred back to Elena.

"If it weren't for someone reminding me, I wouldn't have known you were both Albert's sisters," the man said.

Sofia then realized her monumental blunder.

The Garcia family had just held a banquet recently, and she was a frequent socialite. With a little effort, they could easily find photos of her and Elena.

She had thought she could use Elena to get herself out of danger, but she had overlooked that the man in front of her was not one of those easily manipulated fools.

Sofia felt panicked. She tried to lower her head again, to humble herself even more, and told him she wanted to cooperate. "I'm different from that fool Elena; I want to live. I'll help you lure the others here, just please let me go."

Sofia put on a sufficiently pitiful look.

The gun moved from her forehead to her chin.

"Sounds tempting," The man sneered, "But do you know what the most disgraceful act in the mob is?"

At this cold inquiry, Sofia's heart almost stopped beating. "What is it?"

"Betrayal." The man tapped Sofia's cheek with the gun, revealing a sinister smile.

"I had originally planned to give one of you a chance to live because I need to lure Marco here. But now, thanks to you, bitch, I don't have to worry about choosing between the two of you. You've given me the answer." The man smiled coldly.

Upon hearing this good news, Sofia thought the man had agreed to her proposal and was going to let her go.

She couldn't hide the ecstatic expression on her face.

But then his next words made Sofia immediately change her mind, and she could hardly restrain herself from cursing out loud.

"I'll keep you here and release your sister. After all, a betrayer might betray again at any time. You've already betrayed your sister once. And I wouldn't like to see a traitor flip again."

Aghast, Sofia contorted her face, eyes widened, brows knitted to a line.
