Chapter 91 Marco's Fury: I Made the Wrong Decision

Elena Garcia's POV:

Leonardo seemed to read my mind like an open book. We hadn't known each other long, but I chalked it up to him being super smart and emotionally savvy. Maybe that was why he was once the Bianchi family's golden boy.

He stayed cool as a cucumber in front of the lunatic Caesar, totally ignoring him, which was the complete opposite of me. Even though I just stood up to Caesar and threatened him, putting on a brave face, I was still on high alert, scared of what he might do next.

"Marco's reaction? Oh, he..." Caesar said, dragging it out and torturing my anxious heart.

If he kept stalling, I might just grab his collar out of sheer desperation and do something crazy.

"I guess he went to find Sara with a gun, Elena. How interesting, you seem to mean more to Marco than I thought." Caesar glanced at his phone and smirked at me.

His mismatched eyes gleamed with a hint of malice. "I'm starting to doubt my first guess. Maybe Marco didn't lie to you, and you're really not his mistress."

I snapped, "None of your business!"

Just as I wondered what he was planning, Leonardo chimed in beside me, almost like a warning to Caesar, "It doesn't matter what kind of relationship it is, Caesar. Just remember, Elena is just as important to me."

After Leonardo spoke, I saw the malice in Caesar's eyes fade. A flicker of regret crossed his face. His fear of Leonardo was way stronger than his fear of Marco. Even though Leonardo was now the family's "disgraced heir," Caesar backed down.

I shot Leonardo a grateful look, knowing he was trying to help me out.

But then Leonardo started talking about Marco's actions, which made me even more uneasy.

"He's too impulsive. Falling out with Sara's father is a bad move. Especially when the family elders find out it's all over a girl without Italian blood. I'm sorry, Elena. I'm not trying to put you down. I'm not a bloodline snob, but those old-school guys in the Bianchi family think only pure Italians get the family's spirit of violence and victory."

Leonardo looked at me kindly, but his tone was full of frustration with Marco. "Marco's actions will cost him support within the family."

"Sounds perfect. Looks like I don't have to lift a finger to come out on top!" Caesar laughed.

For Caesar, this was a win. His joy was obvious as he pulled me in for a kiss. "You really are my lucky charm!"

His words made me sick. I didn't want to hurt Marco, so I bit Caesar's lip hard, making him bleed, and yelled, "Get away from me, you psycho!"

Leonardo then turned my face, wiping the blood from my mouth with his fingers, clearly pissed at Caesar. "Caesar, if you can't control yourself, then get out of the car!"

"Hey, I just got carried away!" Caesar showed no remorse, licking his lips, looking like he was ready to pounce on me again.

I wiped my lips roughly, feeling nauseous. I desperately wished the car would go faster so I could see Marco before he did something he couldn't take back and tell him I was safe.

Marco Bianchi's POV:

I loved kissing Elena. It was soft and warm, like the first ray of morning sunlight on your skin, brimming with hope.

While I was still lost in the sweetness of my first time with Elena, Francesco's reminder came with a warning. "But I should remind you of something. This girl doesn't have Italian blood."

He served the family but was also open-minded. He didn't oppose Elena and me being together, but he should know if I knew what I should do.

Because it could help him determine if he saw potential in me as the heir.

My answer was yes.

I couldn't think of anything else, as I was too happy to even consider pushing Elena away.

When you crave something and are prepared not to get it, it's painful and lonely. But once you have it, it's hard to let go.

I was sure nothing could make me let go, not even Elena's rejection.

My desire for her was like a beast that had already sunk its teeth into its prey's throat, refusing to let go.

But this determination, filled with my selfish desires, started to crumble at some point.

I never brought up Sara to Elena because I thought it was pointless. Sara was arrogant from the moment I met her, so I had no interest at all.

But in the Bianchi family, they pick a fiancée for you when you come of age. Leonardo was already married, and even though his wife was dead, he had no plans to remarry. Caesar was a moody lunatic, and his fiancée was just some poor soul sent to him because no one else wanted him. Noah was too mediocre, completely clueless about the mafia world.

So, rather than saying Sara was the fiancée chosen for me by the family, it was more like I was the only heir Sara's father could bet on.

So, after Sara's father saw my potential, he started sucking up to me, subtly linking some of his businesses with mine. He saw something he wanted in me again.

And Sara, just like her dad, thought I was worth her time again, arrogantly wanting to re-engage with me.

When I got to the charity banquet hosted by Francesco and heard him quietly tell me Sara's father's intentions, I felt sick. "I refuse. I should be the heir of the Bianchi family, not some stock to be traded at will, right?"

Francesco said, "But you know, Marco, before you inherit the family, you're no different from a stock. People choose you because they see value in you."

"You mean I should give up Elena?" I glared at him, my eyes full of threat.

Francesco knew about my relationship with Elena, yet he brought this up instead of shutting it down, which pissed me off.

"I didn't mean that, Marco. I have no doubt about your sincerity towards Elena," Francesco advised, "I just suggest you don't make any decisions yet. You need more support to secure your position, and delaying is also an effective strategy."

"But I don't want to deceive Elena." I frowned, resisting Francesco's suggestion.

"Marco, how can this be considered deception? It's also a way to protect Elena." Francesco was very persuasive, telling me it would help hide my relationship with Elena.

I was almost convinced. But then I regretted it. My foolishness made me pay the price, and Elena's hurt look made my heart race with anxiety.

How could I forget that I didn't truly have Elena? We didn't understand each other's feelings from the start, and Elena was with me after being heartbroken by that bastard William. This always made me feel insecure about my relationship with her. I wasn't confident that she really loved me.

When I saw Elena about to leave, a huge panic overwhelmed me. When I saw Leonardo inviting Elena to the first dance, I could see a certain intensity in his eyes, a look akin to that of a lunatic searching for something within her.

Unlike Caesar's madness, I thought Leonardo had been living in the past since his wife's death, which made him somewhat abnormal. He was craving Elena, wanting to take her away.

The panic in my heart turned into anger at the thought of Elena leaving me.

This anger controlled me, making me do some wrong things to Elena. After the rough sex with Elena, I realized I needed to do something to make up for this mistake.

So, when Francesco sent someone to tell me there was an urgent matter, I left immediately with the thought that I must stop my engagement with Sara.

But this gave some despicable bastards an opportunity to hurt Elena.

Seeing the chaotic scene in the room and hearing from Caesar's men that Elena had been kidnapped, the rational part of my brain told me I needed to analyze whether Caesar was telling the truth. Maybe he was trying to sow discord.

But my emotions made me pick up the gun. I didn't think my actions were impulsive because discerning whether Caesar was lying was too difficult.

I had already missed too much time to protect Elena. Now, Using the gun against Sara's head was the quickest way to confirm Caesar's words.

When I burst into the meeting room, that fool Sara was excitedly talking to her father. Seeing me, she almost eagerly came up, putting on a haughty expression. "Marco, I'm so glad to see you so soon. Are you here to consider our engagement? I think you're ready to give me an answer. But before that, I hope you can deal with those women around you! Of course, if you don't know how to deal with them, I can help you!"

I couldn't bear her shrill voice any longer, so I swiftly pressed the gun to her forehead, causing her to scream in terror.
