Chapter 56 Marco's Wrath
Marco Bianchi POV:
I watched that slimy liar take Elena away, and it made my blood boil.
Before she left, she gave me this look, full of disappointment, and man, that hurt like hell.
She probably thought I was the one who had been lying.
I stood on the balcony, pulled out a pack of smokes, and stuck one in my mouth.
The smell of the cigarette always helped me chill out a bit.
Before I could grab my lighter, a flame popped up in front of me. It was Albert, who had hidden behind the curtains and eavesdropped on everything.
"I thought you'd keep arguing until you decked William," Albert grinned.
"I wouldn't do that. Losing my cool would just make Elena think even less of me, especially since I can't prove William's a liar," I said.
I sounded calm, but it took everything I had to keep it together.
I noticed the bandage peeking out from my cuff and quickly pulled my sleeve down to hide it.
If Elena had come a bit closer, she might've seen my wounds and smelled the blood.
I had rushed through the work my agent gave me, got a few injuries, just to see Elena as soon as possible.
I didn't think it was a big deal until I saw Elena hurt. That was when I realized she was more important to me than my own life.
That idiot Abner thought he could talk to me and had a chance to live.
I didn't deny it.
But that would only happen if Elena wasn't hurt. He could get my forgiveness, and I'd overlook his reckless break-in.
The night Elena asked me to save Sofia, I went to the villa ready to kill him, not to negotiate.
When I saw Abner, I grabbed his hair and smashed his face onto the glass table.
"You messed up big time, Abner. She got hurt because of you and your guys. You owe her an apology but I wouldn't let your presence scare her again. So I'm sorry," I said coldly.
When the glass shattered, it cut my hand, but I didn't feel a thing.
I added, "This puts me in a tough spot, but I found a new solution for you. Sometimes, keeping your life quiet forever can also solve problems and be a way to atone."
I only stopped my rampage when my agent Francesco showed up.
"Marco, you're just like your father! Ruthless and cold! The true heir of the Bianchi family! I knew I was right to bet everything on you!" Francesco praised.
He was excited, handed me a handkerchief, and praised me as I wiped the blood off my hands.
"But Marco, let me apologize. I'm sorry Abner upset you. Leave the rest to me," Francesco said.
Francesco's words calmed me down. Looking at the unconscious Abner, I agreed.
Francesco's men found Sofia in the basement; she had fainted from fear.
They planned to deal with her and Abner together, but I stopped them.
I promised Elena I'd bring Sofia back, and I wouldn't betray her trust.
Francesco wasn't too happy; he thought at least Sofia's tongue should be cut out or her eyes gouged to keep her from causing trouble when she woke up.
To make him back off, I agreed to give him a third of Abner's assets, which he wouldn't have gotten otherwise because of his screw-up.
Even the aftermath took me quite a while, which was why I couldn't get back to the Garcia Mansion to see Elena sooner. I had to wrap everything up first.
Albert lit a cigarette for himself too.
I told him that most of Abner's assets were now under my control, and he'd be busy for a while.
He needed to sort out the info on those assets and integrate them with mine.
Albert joked that he hated working, but he didn't refuse, looking pretty pumped about it.
After we finalized the plan, I finally asked him, "Did you have a fight with Elena?"
"How'd you figure that out?" Albert looked a bit surprised.
"When she took the kid from you, she was avoiding your gaze on purpose." I frowned, my tone carrying a warning.
I added, "You get what I'm saying, right? Don't upset Elena."
"You're being a bit overprotective. It's just some family squabble, don't take it so seriously," Albert raised his hands in a surrender gesture. "I have no beef with my sister. I just spoke some truths. I like her way more than anyone else in the Garcia family."
Albert seemed to think of something and sighed. "It's just that those truths might not be what she wants to hear, and given my personality, it's hard for me to sugarcoat them."
I had to admit, Albert was right.
Albert lived with Sofia, but he was the only smart one in the family. He knew her true nature and that she seduced him to gain more benefits from the Garcia family.
But he never fell for it, only toying with her.
If he really had bad intentions towards Elena, he wouldn't help her or use me as an excuse. He'd just stand by.
He had mixed feelings for Elena, wanting her to stay away yet desiring her closeness.
Maybe it was because of his childhood memories; I heard they were twins.
But Elena lost those memories of their childhood.
"Be careful," I reminded him.
Albert nodded. After we finished our cigarettes, he pointed to the banquet hall.
"Want to teach him a lesson?" Albert asked.
"I will," I nodded.
I knew who he was talking about.
The Bianchi family would cut out the tongues of liars as a warning, but I couldn't do that to William.
I didn't want Elena's disappointment in me to turn into something worse.
My mind was racing. I seemed to hear Elena's laughter in the banquet hall. She was having a good time with William, which made my heart ache.
I thought I'd be content with Elena considering me a friend that night, but when she chose William, I realized I couldn't.
"Do you think William lied because he fell in love with Elena?" Albert asked.
"I don't know," I replied.
Albert looked at William with disdain. "Elena isn't his type, but maybe he changed his taste. He might have lied because he fell for her, or maybe he's just playing around."
"Well, he better not let the lie be exposed and make Elena sad," I exhaled the last puff of smoke, sneering, "Otherwise, the Bianchi Mafia Family wouldn't mind doing some business for free. I won't let a shameless guy like him get Elena."
