Chapter 11

The sentence Kamila said, of course, didn't come directly from her lips, but she just thought about it. The girl felt like shouting to them that Kamila was not Vira. She was just an ordinary woman who had a forced marriage. However, Gerald's family would be furious if they knew the truth, and Kamila and her family's lives could be at risk. Like it or not, Kamila played her role as Vira.

"My name is Vira Jayanti. Greetings everyone. I hope I can be well received in this family," Kamila said politely. Everyone at the dinner table looked at Kamila with various expressions.

"You don't need to say that, Vira. We will definitely treat you well. Especially after marrying you, Gerald came to his senses," said Griselda.

"What a wonderful power of love! Oh, how beautiful." Gerald's grandmother was Martha, Griselda's mother. Martha propped up her chin as she continued to smile widely. Her eyes narrowed, and she blinked many times.

Kamila mumbled to herself. She was amused at being teased by the grandmother.

"Vira, you should get to know Arven's family. This is still not all who are present; there are many more. You'll get to know them when you get together more often," Max said. The man began to introduce, one by one, those who attended the meal together this time. Kamila smiled and remembered the names and faces of each Arven family member well. Although it was difficult, Kamila hoped she wouldn't forget it in the future.

After the family introductions, Kamila turned to her right. The servants, who had prepared the food, began to line up while holding the dishes. One by one, they put the dishes on the table. Afterward, they returned to their original positions, bowed briefly, and then went to the back.

This mafia family is truly respected, Kamila thought.

"Let's eat," Max said. He began to turn over his plate.

Kamila looked at the dishes lined up. Nothing was familiar to her eyes. Everything looked like it had never been eaten before. She didn't know which one to take.

"Vira, why are you staring? Come on, let's eat!" invited Martha.
Kamila nodded. She started pouring rice onto the plate. The warm atmosphere at the dining table was enlivened by the voices of small children.

"Mama!"
Kamila turned her head to see where the voice came from. Alvero, with his uneven powder, ran and rushed into Kamila's arms.

"Eh!" Kamila was startled. Everyone stared at them.
"Mama, how is Papa?" asked Alvero with a smile on her face.
"Your papa is fine. He's resting," Kamila replied nervously.
"Alvero, don't surprise your mother. Let's eat," said Griselda, who had gotten off the chair and was holding Alvero.

"Alvero wants to be close to Mama," whined the boy.
"With your aunt first, so you don't get distracted," Griselda explained.
"It's okay, Ma, if Alvero is with me," Kamila said.
"You just ate. Let Alvero take my lap," Griselda replied as she placed Alvero on her lap.

Everyone started to eat. Kamila slowly put her food into her mouth. As she chewed, the deliciousness of the food tingled her tongue. Delicious food that Kamila didn't know what it was called. The girl continued to eat voraciously. Alvero, too, was being fed by Griselda.

Kamila looked at a chair in front of her. She immediately thought it could be Gerald's chair. However, there was not only one chair left. There was another one next to Gerald's uncle. The image of the man she met last night came to mind. A cold man who had the same stature as her husband.

"Who is that man? Why didn't he attend this meal together? That empty seat could have been his." There were too many questions in Kamila's mind.

"Why do you daydream so much?"

The question came from the mouth of Isabella, Max's sister. Kamila gasped and turned to her. Damn! Kamila suddenly stiffened from staring at Isabella's sharp eyes as well as her cynical and cold expression. Not friendly.

God, please, I don't want to die now. Kamila thought to herself. She was already scared that Gerald's aunt seemed to want to tear her apart.

"Sorry, Aunt. Just thinking about my husband," Kamila replied with one breath.
"Then finish your meal and go to your room," Max ordered.
"Alvero wants to come meet Papa too!" the boy shouted excitedly.
"Nope. Finish this meal first, okay?" coaxed Griselda.

Alvero pressed his lips together playfully. "No way! Alvero wants to see Papa. Last night, after Papa woke up from Mama's kiss, Mama told Alvero to go to sleep," he said.

Max, who had heard Alvero's words, suddenly choked. Griselda immediately handed him a glass of water. Thanks to Alvero's honesty, everyone turned to Kamila and Alvero in turn.

What a boy! He said he wanted to keep his mouth shut, but he revealed it too! Kamila thought to herself. She had lost her face. The top of her head was suddenly hot.

"What do you mean, Alvero?" asked Isabella.
"Grandma, last night, Mama kissed Papa, and he woke up. That's the truth. According to the fairy tale book Alvero read," Alvero replied.

Kamila realized that Isabella was Alvero's grandmother. This means that the dead cousin Gerald, Alvero's father, could be Isabella's son or daughter-in-law.

"How could that happen? It doesn't seem possible!" said Martha.
"The proof is that Papa is awake, thanks to Mama. Alvero saw it himself," Alvero explained.

"Gerald himself also said that he woke up because of a kiss. Although he's not sure because he can't remember much, It's medically impossible that this never happened," Max added.

Kamila wanted to escape from this conversation.

"If you don't believe me, please ask Mama yourself," Alvero told her.
Kamila opened her mouth. How could you, little boy? She grumbled to herself. Because of Alvero, everyone looked at her for an explanation.

"Look, what Alvero said is true. It doesn't make sense, but after trying it, it worked. I kissed my own husband. It's a natural thing, isn't it?" Kamila explained. They still can't believe it. If it's true.

"Whatever it is, even if it's illogical, We can have fun today, celebrating Gerald's recovery," Kamila continued.

"You really are a goddess of luck, Vira!" said Griselda.
"Yes, grandma is very happy with you," Martha said.
"I'm his wife. That's what I have to do." Kamila forced a smile. She just wanted to escape the awkward situation, but she could not. Right now, she was like a presenter, and the audience was waiting for her to speak.

Kamila thought that the better they treated her, the more it meant she wouldn't let go easily.
"We are grateful to you," Max said.

"You're welcome. I try to be a good wife, and being a member of this family, I'm happy for you," Kamila said sweetly.
"But we must always monitor Gerald. Don't let the previous incident happen again. He can't go out for a while. There will be many people after him," Isabella said.

"That's right. His health comes first," Max replied.
"Please excuse me, Sir, Madam, Miss, and young Master Alvero."
A female servant, dressed in black and white, came into the dining room. She bowed.
"What is it?" asked Max, looking up at her.

"Please excuse me; I called Madame Vira to Mr. Gerald's room as he is in need of Madame," said the maid.
Kamila raised one eyebrow. "Need what?" she asked.
"I don't know, ma'am. But Mr. Gerald says it is urgent," the maid replied.
