Chapter 6
Kamila was completely dumbfounded. The fair-skinned girl covered her mouth with both palms. Her eyes were also unblinking, not wanting to miss what had just happened. Even if she thought using her logic, it didn't make sense. However, just now? It made it hard for her to believe.
"How can someone who has been in a coma for two months wake up because of a kiss?" The girl kept thinking until she couldn't find the answer.
Alvero looked very happy. He stepped quickly to his father's bedside. "Mama, look, right? Papa's hand is moving. He's awake." His slightly raspy voice spoke loudly.
Kamila moved closer. She was only one step away from Alvero's side. On closer inspection, Gerald's fingers did move a little.
"This is impossible." Kamila only said a small word, but it was heard by Gerald's adopted son.
"You should know that nothing is impossible in this world. Come on, you should kiss Papa again. So that Papa really realizes. Don't kiss him on his face, but on his lips, Ma."
Alvero babbled on, giving advice that Kamila found hard to follow. How did the little boy know to kiss there? She had never kissed. Just now, having made her so embarrassed, she wanted to cover her face with a plastic bag.
"Come on, Ma. It worked." Alvero coaxed again. He had to jump a little.
Kamila felt like pulling Alvero out. However, she remained silent. She didn't know much about the medical field, but she knew that no one had woken up from a coma because of a kiss. Was that kiss so magical?
"Mama, come on." Alvero never gave up. With that tiny hand, he grasped Kamila's wrist. The girl looked down, meeting Alvero's expectant gaze.
Kamila let out a long sigh. For some reason, her legs felt very heavy as she got closer to Gerald. Her head bowed slowly and then suddenly stopped when their lips were only an inch apart. Again, Alvero coaxed her.
The long-haired girl closed her eyes. In slow motion, their lips met. They were just pressed together, and Kamila immediately pulled away from Gerald's face. The scene kept dancing in her mind and made her heart beat fast. Kamila had no idea that she had kissed a stranger who had become her husband.
Kamila backed away. She knew nothing would change. Just obey the little boy's wishes. Alvero also seemed to be waiting. After a while, everything looked the same; the gap-toothed man looked glum. Kamila was aware of that.
However, in what can only be called the eighth wonder of the world, Kamila was astonished to see Gerald slowly open his eyes. The man blinks a little. Adjusting the light entering his retinas.
"Alvero, look! Your papa's..." Kamila couldn't even continue her sentence.
The handsome boy raised his head. He clapped his hands in excitement because he saw his papa had regained consciousness. Gerald did not look at the two of them, looking straight at the ceiling of the room. Kamila's legs felt weak, like they were boneless. She unconsciously retreated further, and her back hit the table. The objects on it shook violently and almost fell over.
"You ...." Kamila couldn't even utter a complete sentence. She stared at Gerald in a daze and thought she was dreaming. Did he really wake her up with a kiss? Was it a medical miracle or something? How could it be?
Alvero shouted, "Ma, you're amazing! Mama really woke Papa up with a kiss. From now on, I am a child with complete parents." He was so happy that, at school, his friends no longer teased Alvero for not having parents.
Kamila placed her index finger on her lips. Signaling Alvero to keep his voice down. It could make a scene in the whole house.
"Your papa didn't wake up." Kamila reminded Alvero. "He's not fully awake yet. Don't tell anyone about this now, okay?" she continued.
Alvero did not understand Kamila's words very well, but since Kamila was her father's wife, he had to do as she was asked. Therefore, Alvero nodded seriously, saying that this was a secret between him and Kamila.
"I will never tell anyone about this," Alvero said.
Kamila was relieved to hear that.
"It's getting late. You should go to bed," Kamila said.
"You can come and see your papa again tomorrow, okay?" she continued.
Alvero nodded. He was indeed sleepy. The man could already be fast asleep now that today was his happiest. A smile spread across those tiny, rosy lips. He walked out of the room. Afterward, Kamila was left alone with Gerald, who opened his eyes and blinked slightly.
"Are you really awake or not?" Kamila asked the man on the bed.
No one answered her question. Gerald's gaze did not change its direction. The man's breathing was also nice and calm. Kamila breathed a sigh of relief. Under the dim light of the lamp, Kamila approached to check on one of the mafia families that was said to be dangerous and ruthless.
Kamila moved closer to Gerald. She could clearly see how God had so perfectly created his physique. The jaw was firm, the nose was large, the eyes were medium-sized and sharp, and the eyebrows and eyelashes were thick. If Kamila described everything, it would take a long time to mention everything about Gerald. Just one word would do: perfect.
"Oh my!" Kamila squealed when their eyes met. Gerald looked like he wanted to skin Kamila with eyes like freshly sharpened knives.
Kamila had a hard time swallowing her saliva. "Why is he looking at me like that? Am I going to be killed right now?" She thought, starting to shudder.
"Engg, that, actually, I didn't want to take a chance by kissing you, but because earlier, that little boy, ah, I mean your son, he asked for it. Sorry, I didn't mean to be presumptuous." Kamila was so nervous, she spontaneously said so.
However, Gerald was silent. Kamila was dizzy, scratching her head that didn't itch. Suddenly, her hand hurt from the sharp edge of the crown. No red liquid came out, just a little sting. Kamila was annoyed that there were so many things on her body.
"Is she awake or not? There's nothing to say." Kamila thought.
Kamila looked at him for a while and suddenly remembered that she was still wearing makeup. Then she grabbed her own clothes as well as toiletries from the suitcase. She went to the bathroom to take off her wedding dress, which was a lot of work for her to do on her own. Next, she washed her face and removed her makeup. After that, she took a shower.
She hung up her wedding dress. Kamila put on her nightgown and came out. She was already more refreshed. I slowly approached Gerald, who was now looking up again.
"If you really wake up, you should thank me. I am your wife, but you can't ask me to do any of those things," Kamila squeaked.
"Wife?" Suddenly, Gerald raised his voice.
