Chapter 31
Gerald sat leaning against the body of the bed, while Kamila sat with her back to Gerald and her back resting on Gerald's chest. One of the man's hands hugged Kamila's stomach, and the other played with his wife's hair while occasionally being kissed.
"What major are you studying, and in what semester?" asked Gerald.
"I'm majoring in business management, already in the fourth semester," Kamila replied. She tried to hold back her laughter when Gerald sometimes tickled her stomach.
"Good, will you be working for the company?" Gerald asked again.
Kamila nodded enthusiastically. Indeed, working for a magnificent company, being an office employee, and having her own room was her dream.
"Then, when you graduate, you can work at my company."
Kamila looked up, looking at Gerald. Her face looked happy at the offer.
"Are you serious?"
Gerald nodded with certainty. "Of course, I'm sure you're great and can manage the company well; I can even set up a company for you."
Kamila paused; she wanted to, but realized that the more important thing was to achieve success from her own hard work.
"Sorry, I'm happier if I struggled from scratch to be successful because of my hard work, even though I had to fall up and down."
Gerald smiled proudly; he pinched his wife's chubby cheeks until she screamed in pain.
"It hurts." Kamila whimpered.
Gerald laughed. "I'm glad you talk like that. Your thinking is mature," Gerald said.
Gerald himself felt offended because he founded his company with a lot of help from his father so that the success he got today was quite easy. In fact, Gerald also received a share of the property and a position as head of the mafia to replace his father.
"If you need anything, I will always help and support you," said Gerald.
Kamila smiled a simple smile. She hoped that someday her dreams would come true and her current status as the wife of a mafia would not be a hindrance.
Suddenly Kamila was nauseous and wanted to vomit. Suddenly, Gerald panicked.
"What's wrong with you, darling?" asked Gerald, changing Kamila's position to face him. His wife's pale face was visible.
Kamila shook her head weakly, suddenly feeling dizzy and sick all over.
"I don't know, ugh!"
Kamila immediately covered her mouth and quickly headed for the bathroom.
Gerald followed, but he couldn't get in because the door was locked.
"Honey, open the door. Are you okay?" Gerald shouted while banging on the door repeatedly. However, Kamila did not respond, only the sound of her vomit.
Kamila looked down at her vomit splattered on the sink. She didn't know why she was suddenly like this. The woman massaged her nape to feel better. Then she opened the door to find Gerald waiting in worry.
"Honey, what happened to you?" asked Gerald as he held both of his wife's cheeks.
"I don't know why I threw up," Kamila replied listlessly.
"Is it possible you're pregnant?"
Gerald's question made Kamila grin. "No, I can't be pregnant." Kamila started to panic. She was afraid that there was a child in her womb.
"Why is it impossible? We often have conjugal relations. Can you remember if you had your period this month?" Gerald asked.
Kamila was silent then worried. "I haven't had my period this month," she replied. Kamila usually menstruates at the beginning of the month. However, she thought that since the month had not yet come to an end, she hoped there was a possibility of being a few weeks late.
Kamila did not want to get pregnant because she was not ready at all, especially since this marriage was not what she wanted. If the pregnancy happened, it would be even more difficult in the future.
Gerald raised one eyebrow. "It's like you don't want to have children with me," he asked in a stern tone.
"It's not that." Kamila's speech stopped because she was at a loss for how to explain it so that Gerald wouldn't misunderstand.
"I have a test pack; you can prove if you're pregnant or not."
Gerald stepped over to a table and opened a drawer. Then, he took a white test pack and gave it to Kamila.
"You can prove whether you are pregnant or not. Tomorrow morning, use the device when you urinate," Gerald explained.
Kamila trembled as she held the test pack. It was the first time she had ever held one. Even though it was her first time, she knew how to use it. Kamila's heart was beating fast; she was even more afraid that the result would be positive. Kamila could only agree with Gerald's words. He put the device on the table.
"It's better for you to rest so that you're in better shape," Gerald said. He led his wife to the bed.
Kamila lay down and pulled up the blanket. She blinked softly, honestly not sleepy. She couldn't sleep because her mind was in turmoil. However, she pretended to close her eyes.
Gerald smiled slightly and left the room. The creaking of the door reached Kamila's ears; she opened her eyes slowly.
"Where is Gerald going?"

"Gerald, what are you doing here? Where is your wife? Why are you alone?"
Griselda was surprised to see her son in the kitchen.
Gerald turned around. "Mama, I was just getting a drink." He showed him the glass and drank.
"Why didn't you ask your wife to get it? Where is she?" Griselda was starting to get angry at the thought of Kamila leaving Gerald alone, especially since she remembered that Gerald's current wife was not his real wife.
"Kamila's not feeling well; she's sleeping."
"What's wrong?" asked Griselda.
"I don't know, maybe pregnant."
"What?!" Griselda spontaneously shouted, making Gerald cover both ears.
"How can she be pregnant, anyway?!" Griselda clearly did not accept this fact.
"Why are you talking like that? Because she's my wife, she could be pregnant." Gerald placed the glass on the table firmly.
"You know she's not your real wife! She's not Vira!" Griselda shouted.
"What do you mean by that?"
A heavy voice with an angry tone was heard, making Griselda and Gerald turn their heads. Both of them were very surprised because Max was suddenly present.
Max looked sharply at his wife and son. However, they remained silent as Max demanded answers.
"Answer! Why are you silent? So, all this time, that woman wasn't Vira? So who is she? I don't like to lie in this house!"
Gerald tried to calm his father's emotions. "Dad, keep your voice down. Kamila is sick; I don't want her to wake up and hear our commotion."
"Oh, so her name is Kamila? How dare that woman lie to us!"
As Max took a step, Gerald stopped him.
"I know the truth, it's not what you think." Gerald looked at his mom and dad.
"I'll explain, but not here. Let's talk in the secret room," Gerald invited.
Max nodded. He walked first, followed by Gerald and Griselda. The secret room was an underground room that only the immediate family knew about. It was often used for important meetings. The entrance was very secret. The room was soundproofed so that people outside could not hear anything. The room contained many important documents and weapons for mafia fights.
The three of them were already inside and sitting on the sofa. The atmosphere in the room was hot and tense.
"What do you want to explain?" Max asked sternly.
