Chapter 18
Kamila wanted to cry. Miranda is really bad. Even though Kamila had obeyed everything for mom's sake, The only person who could help with the fees was Miranda. However, Miranda did not keep her promise.
"Did you forget? That was a wedding gift for me. If you spend it all, you have to replace it because there is my right to that money." Kamila warned.
Miranda laughed. "Did you forget? The money is for my daughter. You're just a surrogate bride."
Kamila was very upset. "But Auntie said to me that you would split some of it for Mom's treatment."
"That's all right. You are also becoming a rich man. You just asked Gerald. He will definitely give you money. There's already a bodyguard, and your cell phone seems to be new." Miranda took the cell phone from Kamila's hand.
Miranda noticed it was better than hers. "You have a good life there. My daughter should be the lucky one."
"It's not as good as you imagine, living with a mafia family. I wouldn't be in this position either if Vira hadn't run away." Kamila said it silently.
"I beg you, Auntie. Give me the money." Kamila pleaded.
"No! The money is already gone." Miranda returned her cell phone and left. Kamila tried to hold back, but her hand was slammed down.
Kamila sat down and cried. She remembered her mother, who fought between life and death. Kamila felt that all her sacrifices were in vain. If her mother died, Kamila thought of following her. Kamila's world is meaningless without her mother.
Kamila got up and turned around. Wiping away tears. One of the bodyguards asked. "What's wrong, ma'am?"
"It's nothing. Now we go to the hospital. Please don't come in. I really need some privacy." Kamila wanted to see her mother.
"Who is sick, ma'am? If we don't follow Madam, we could get scolded by Mr. Gerald." They were ordered by Gerald to keep an eye on Kamila by staying close to her.
"You don't have to worry about that. It will be safe." Kamila was very confident.
The bodyguards stared at each other. Kamila invited them to go to the hospital. In the car, Kamila could not calm down. Sad and upset. Her head hurts thinking about her mother's expenses. She doesn't know where the money will come from. I didn't dare to ask Gerald.
Arriving, only Kamila entered. Go straight to the room where her mother is being treated. Tears flowed freely. Her mother lay weakly on the bed.
"Mother, forgive me." Kamila could only pray that God would heal her.
The doctor came over to Kamila. "Your mother will have surgery tomorrow."
Kamila was shocked. "I haven't paid the fee for Mom yet."
"It was paid yesterday. Tomorrow morning is the scheduled day for surgery. Let's pray together that the surgery goes well." The doctor told Kamila something that confused her.
"Already paid? By whom?"
"Your aunt," the doctor replied.
So, she was lying? Kamila felt like she'd been tricked. Everything had been paid for. Kamila felt relieved, despite her resentment. Kamila always prayed for her mother's health. The doctor left, leaving Kamila alone. Not long after, Kamila's brother arrived.
"Brother, why are you here? Are you not working?" Kamila was surprised by Reynaldi's arrival.
"I haven't gotten a job yet. After the incident, I wasn't allowed to work at Uncle's company. Even though it has been proven that I am innocent, This must all be Aunt Miranda's doing. Now, finding a job is very difficult." Reynaldi clenched his hands into fists. He thought of his aunt's face, which made Reynaldi angry.
Kamila looked away. She did not want to look sad. Kamila didn't know why Miranda was so mean to her family.
"You, how are you here?" asked Reynaldi.
"I got permission from my husband. The doctor said, "Mom can have surgery tomorrow because the cost has been paid by Aunt." Kamila told him.
"That's a relief. How is your household? Do you feel insecure? Is your husband hurting you?" Reynaldi was afraid something might happen.
Kamila smiled. "I'm fine. They are good. I can't see Mom's surgery tomorrow. Brother, please keep me informed. Take care of mom and dad. Don't tell them about me."
"Okay. I promise I'll get you out of their way." Reynaldi felt useless for not being able to protect his sister.
Before going home, Kamila hugged Reynaldi. Kamila returned to the car and returned to Arven's family home. Arriving at the room, Kamila saw Gerald, who was pacing.
"What are you doing?" Kamila approached.
"I'm just walking. Exercise my muscles so they don't get stiff." Suddenly, Gerald had an idea.
Gerald pretended to fall down. Fortunately, Kamila immediately held Gerald's large body with her small body. This was Gerald's way of getting a hug from Kamila.
"Be careful; don't get too tired." Kamila helped Gerald stand up.
"How was your day?" asked Gerald.
"I'm glad I met my aunt. I'm grateful to you." Kamila smiled.
Gerald smiled too. "Everything for my wife."

The next day, Kamila looked anxious. Her mother was going to have surgery. Kamila was waiting to hear from Reynaldi.
"Why do you look anxious?" Gerald had been suspicious of Kamila since earlier.
"It's okay. I'm not anxious." Kamila was caught off guard. Started acting casual.
"Are you contacting another man behind my back?" Gerald watched Kamila, who was busy with her cell phone.
"Of course not. I'm not contacting anyone." Kamila looked nervous. She couldn't lie.
"Give me your cell phone!"
Kamila was trembling. It would definitely have been discovered if she contacted Reynaldi. The message had not been deleted. Kamila was afraid that Gerald would be angry for accusing her of contacting another man. Gerald continued to insist, until Kamila was forced to comply. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
This is Kamila's chance to divert the situation. Opening the door, she saw a doctor and several nurses. They came to check on Gerald's condition. Routine every day. While Gerald was busy with the doctor and nurses, Kamila took the opportunity to delete Reynaldi's message.
Before deleting, Kamila had time to see Reynaldi's reply. Reynaldi informed her that mom's surgery went well. Mom has been moved to the hospital room. Although she was still unconscious, her condition was stable. Kamila was relieved to read that.
"Gerald's condition is getting better. His muscles need to be exercised frequently. Move and walk a lot to prevent stiffness." After saying that, the doctor and nurse left.
"Give me your cell phone!" Gerald was still asking for it. Kamila gave it easily because there was nothing to be afraid of. Gerald played with his wife's cell phone. Nothing suspicious; it was returned to Kamila.
***
This morning, Kamila took Gerald to the park at Gerald's own request. Gerald wanted to take a walk in the park because he was bored in his room. He wanted to breathe fresh air. Kamila took Gerald in a wheelchair because, from the room to the park, it was quite far. Gerald's house is very big. Kamila didn't want Gerald to get tired. Once outside, they went down using the elevator. They passed Max.
"Where are you going?" Max looked at them in turn.
"I'm taking Gerald for a walk in the park." Kamila replied.
"No! It's an open place. What if people attack you?" Max was worried.
"There's no need to be afraid. This is my own request. I'll be safe." Gerald explained.
"Hopefully. Alright, Papa will go first. Your mom isn't home either. She's at an event with her friends." Max left them.
Kamila continued pushing the wheelchair to the park. Gerald smiled a little. Enjoying the soft breeze. He slowly stood up from the wheelchair and walked slowly. Gerald spread both hands. Feeling happy. Kamila watched behind.
"How beautiful your garden is," Kamila said.
"Of course it is. It's well cared for," Gerald replied.
"But there's something more beautiful and gorgeous than all this." Gerald's words made Kamila curious.
"What?"
Gerald turned around. He looked at Kamila softly. "You."
Kamila gasped. Her heart was racing. Gerald was amused to see that both of Kamila's cheeks were red. Kamila looked down in shame as Gerald stared intensely. Gerald slowly approached Kamila. Raising his wife's chin. Kamila finally looked into Gerald's pair of brown eyes. Beautiful eyes.
One of Gerald's hands held Kamila's nape. Slowly, the face approached. Gerald had been looking at Kamila's red lips, which were always tempting. Gerald couldn't resist kissing her. Kamila only held her breath.
"Sorry to disturb you, Sir and Ma’am."
A voice thwarted Gerald from kissing Kamila. Gerald pulled his head back and looked angrily at someone standing not far from them.
