I trailed Riya and saw her knocking on the third apartment, on the second floor of the building.
An elderly lady pushed the door open, donning a huge smile, Riya happily hugged her as they both amble back in.
Something urged me to forge ahead, as I did, ambling close to the same door Riya walked in.
A voice spoke inside, "how are you Riya, it's been a while, my child".
Riya takes a few minutes late before replying to her, "yes mom, I am okay, it's just that Elena has finally confessed that she took me from you and dad".
I was so engulfed in their conversation, I didn't know when a little boy nudged me and I accidentally pushed the door open, sewing Riya's and the old lady's attention over.
"You? Andre's Khan what are you doing here? Are you following me?" Riya gets up from the couch angered by it.
The old lady dabs a brain freeze on her countenance, she veers to Riya and asked, "did you just call him Andres Khan?". Interweaving our attention to each other.
"Hmm!!! Yes, mom, the fellow right here is, Elena's supposed dead son" in a straight and emotionless face, she lets out.
We all shared a look at each other, the old lady fills up the distance and held her hands on my face.
"Are you really!! The evil Elena's an only child?". She copies Riya's words back to me and waited for my response.
I took a step backward and throw a question back, "and who are you? How did you know who Elena Khan is and why did Riya call you mom?".
The lady shares a weak smile with Riya, who walks closer to where I stood, "come with me, and I'll explain". Out of curiosity, I followed her, she sat me down on the couch, and said, "so!! Am listening" I uttered, still waiting for a responsible response from her.
She buffed out a deep breath, took a stand after placing a wooden box over to me.
"This here contains everything you need to know!! And before you ask, the lady here, is my biological mother?".
My eyes widened up after heeding to her words, did she just say her mom? Or I'm hallucinating.
"Erm!! Can you please, explain to me, did you just call this woman your biological mother?".
I buffed out a deep breath before continuing to talk.
"I thought you didn't know who your parents are? Because based on the information I got and the words of Elena khan, she tells that you had no identity at all!! Were you pretending all this while?".
Riya ran out of words to say to me, she turns to her mom.
"Listen to me son!!! Riya at first didn't know anything about her biological parents, Elena took her when she was only a child and trust it wasn't easy to make Riya realize the truth of what happened years back". She gives a headcount before preceding once again, "when I finally got to make her realize the truth, we both decided to have Elena jailed for the evil she committed!"
She sits her hand on Riya's shoulders.
After taking heed of her words, I fell my eyes back to Riya who shoots me a gloomy look, who should I believe?, Because all the while, Riya has been pretending not to know anything about her real identity, not only did she fool everyone at home, she also made me look like one.
Can I be able to trust her once again?.
