Chapter Ten
Samantha was still in the bedroom, and she could hear the conversation unfolding between Nick and William. She knew what was coming but only because he had told her while he was busy violating her entire being. William had cleaned the both of them up and placed new clothes on Samantha but had left her tied to the bed and gagged. She was sore from head to toe, and even worse she was losing the will to fight, by the time William was ready to kill her, sadly she knew at least she’d be at peace. Samantha didn’t hear the punch, but she did hear Nick spitting, his words gave her hope that he would pull through and make it back to Laura and his nieces. Williams words on the other hand chilled Samantha to the bone, she was truly scared to even think about what else William had planned for her.
“Best thing to do, or at least what I feel is fair, is to let you go and give you a possible chance at life. But before I do that, I’m afraid a bit of a beating is on order and a lovely little cocktail of my own design, we can’t make it so easy that you spoil my fun too soon.” William laughed and got up, he went over to his bag and pulled out a few more syringes, the combining of which he’d found acted very nicely together. He carefully set everything on the table before going back to the bedroom and grabbing Samantha. While William had been in the living room Samantha had been trying to loosen one of the restraints and was almost there when he reappeared in the bedroom. William actually wasn’t mad, not really in fact he chuckled as he grabbed Samantha’s wrist and slapped one side of the handcuffs on it. “Almost made it out of one, but not quite far enough love.” William undid the wrist restraints and bound Samantha’s hands behind her back with the handcuffs, he also removed the gag for the time being. Leading her out of the bedroom he pushed her onto the couch and bound her feet so she wouldn’t be able to run.
Samantha couldn’t look at Nick, but that didn’t stop Nick from giving her that all too familiar look, she looked broken, and she knew it. Nick didn’t say anything this time, Samantha’s body language and the unwillingness to look at him said all that needed to be said. “Any last words before we go Detective Montgomery? Anything you want to say to Samantha, as it may be the last time you see her.” Samantha still wouldn’t look at Nick, but he assured her that they would take William down no matter what, and he would make sure they did all they could to save her. William spoke first, “Very touching detective, hits you right in the heart it does. Anything you want to tell Nick before he goes Samantha?” She already knew what she wanted to say and to her it was the only thing that mattered, “Don’t tell my father or anyone what happened…tell them everything else but that…I.. I love you Nick.” it was all she said but the last part threw Nick for a loop. William once again gagged Samantha so that she wouldn’t be able to scream for help while he was gone. It was dark out now, late enough that William would be able to do what he needed to with Nick. “Very sentimental detective, now it’ll take about 20 minutes for the drugs to hit your system, but that’s more than enough time to get you where you need to go.” William injected Nick and cut the tape keeping him bound to the chair. He knew Matt would find out anyway, but he promised he wouldn’t be the one to tell him, Nick managed to choke out “I love you too SAM!” before William dragged him out the door. Secretly holding Nick at gun point they exited the apartment and walked the couple of blocks it took to get back to Nick’s vehicle where William had hidden it. Once they reached the vehicle it was clear Nick was feeling the effects of the drugs, it would only be another minute or so and he would lose consciousness entirely. Nick already had some defensive wounds from being assaulted by William and tied to the chair the past two days, but William knew it would take more to make his idea plausible and convincing. The moment Nick finally lost consciousness William began punching and kicking various parts of his body before carefully placing him in the back of the vehicle. He then drove to a busy part of town parked in an ally and placed Nick into the driver’s seat, before leaving he turned Nick’s phone and the tracking back on and stomped it a few times to crack the screen. Satisfied with how everything looked William placed an anonymous tip with the police so that he would be found and caught a cab back to Samantha’s apartment.
By the time William made it back to the apartment Matthew had tried to call her twice and had sent about 4 text messages. He was letting her know that they had found Nick and that it appeared to be a car jacking gone wrong on the way to the lab. Acting as Samantha, William sent a few replies back about how awful it was and to let her know how Nick was doing. She also alluded that she lost most of her voice and had been at the doctors most of the day trying to feel better. Matthew was understanding and said he’d send updates as soon as he had them, but that he wouldn’t bother her too much so that she could get some rest and feel better. William was more than delighted with the revelation that there would be less interruptions than he had anticipated and shared the news with Samantha. “Seems they’ve found your friend Detective Montgomery rather quickly, that’s good and one less thing for us to worry about. Also seems your father’s more worried about letting you rest than constantly checking in, that will definitely give us more alone time.” Samantha simply sat on the couch, she stared at William and it was as though she was already dead inside. While she desperately hoped with whatever faith or strength, she had left that Nick would wake up and tell them everything, she knew the chances were slim and it was not worth dreaming or hoping for.
